Knew this would happen, had to turn down job

I'm furious, have been out of work for a while. Was offered a temporary contract writing and implementating policy for a public sector organisation. Just up my street and would really have helped us out. Turns out they're Stonewall champions and are full on TWAW and have all rights to anything they want. I asked to review some of their current policies and it's all cisgender crap and lists of stuff we must and mustn't do to make all Trans people safe. We'll I've obviously had to turn down the role and worse I told the recruiter why so will probably never get a job through them now. There are companies out there that haven't bought into all this crap aren't there?

@AssassinatedBeauty

The OP is neither trying to be a martyr nor claiming everyone else has the same beliefs as her.
Claiming you wouldn't take a job because it affects other women is being a martyr.

Worrying about all the other women who can't do the same financially (assuming they all would ) means she thinks everyone would do the same if given the choice.

AssassinatedBeauty · 22/04/2021 18:35

That's your opinion, of course. I'm sure you aren't suggesting that we must all agree with you...

Not in a million years.

Having my opinion like everyone else.

No it doesn't mean op thinks everyone would do that. What a bizarre reach. Although many here do agree with the principle, myself included. ☺️

Scepticaltank · 22/04/2021 18:40

The Green Party wouldn't know what a policy was if a cat boxed them in the face with it.

Where is that lovely cat?

Erkrie · 22/04/2021 18:41

That cat was fabulous.

@Erkrie

Prosecco storm front is really quite offensive. A certain charity really need to review the hateful social media put out by their employees. It doesn't look good. I think I need to start making official complaints about this behaviour.
good idea. I have recently become familiar with the complaints procedure.
OhHolyJesus · 22/04/2021 18:43

Ooh, I'm glad you're here, I have some questions. Mostly on transubstantiation.

My apologies for being late, I had an urgent prayer call 🙏🏻

Now what's this trans sub what now?

Is that the body/bread and blood/wine thing? Yes, hmmm...I'm glad you asked...

I'm sorry. The prayer hotline is ringing again. BRB.

Me too. Thanks to our terribly helpful visiting friends who kindly laid out all the steps 😎

Would have stayed in the Green Party if they`d had a few more boxing cats.

I know not all women agree with my viewpoint but I thought posting my thoughts on a feminist board was the most likely place to find people who agree.

Don't you have to have been killed to be a martyr?

Just started watching this, after I ended down a internet rabbit hole because of this thread. Shock

That is the essential nature of cats.

Why all women? Why not all people?

No.

So what were the specific things you couldn't possibly work with?

OwBist · 22/04/2021 19:07

Sad to say, but I think that the cost of potential, then actual, legal cases will be the driving force in getting companies and institutions to finally care whether their policies are right, as opposed to righteous. Good for you, OP, here's to a better opportunity coming up soon. 🍾🥂

The principle of refusing to keep trans woman safe.

Yes, yes she did. She claimed she was acting for people who couldn't afford to do it.

VanGoghsDog · 22/04/2021 19:08

@ListeningQuietly

I admit that if I'd been in *@Trixie78* s place I'd have taken the job and then annotated each draft policy with the legislation links that support / contradict the updates that way those rejecting the updates are on the record as rejecting UK law

but then I'm like that Grin

It's not worth it, I tried it but was told "the lawyers have said the first version is right and this is the way organizations are going now". And how can I argue with the govt lawyers?

I'd drive myself mad doing it all the time. Luckily we haven't been "Stonewalled" but it's only a matter of time!

OwBist · 22/04/2021 19:09

Sorry, posted too soon - "righteous" as in according to the currently fashionable ideology, and not what us GC women consider "moral"....

Erkrie · 22/04/2021 19:10

~Yes, yes she did. She claimed she was acting for people who couldn't afford to do it.

Oh did she. That's great. Thanks op 👍

I use legislation.gov.uk nearly every day
they can argue "the lawyers" till they are blue in the face
but up against that website, most people crumble
am currently seeking a killer clause from 1980 for a particular purpose Grin

Yes, yes she did. She claimed she was acting for people who couldn't afford to do it.

Erm, no haven't said that in any of my posts. I turned down the job because I don't agree with their policies and don't want to be responsible for updating/defending them.

The clue is in the name of this part of MN. Take a look.
