Knew this would happen, had to turn down job

I'm furious, have been out of work for a while. Was offered a temporary contract writing and implementating policy for a public sector organisation. Just up my street and would really have helped us out. Turns out they're Stonewall champions and are full on TWAW and have all rights to anything they want. I asked to review some of their current policies and it's all cisgender crap and lists of stuff we must and mustn't do to make all Trans people safe. We'll I've obviously had to turn down the role and worse I told the recruiter why so will probably never get a job through them now. There are companies out there that haven't bought into all this crap aren't there?

Yawn.

@Lordamighty

Owain Sutton typifies everything that’s wrong about the Greens.
Dicking around on Mumsnet seems to be a favourite pastime of political activity nowadays. What about the planet Owain?!

Activists natch

I do not want women to be less safe than they currently are.

And on Earth Day too! Shock

@Katypyee

Oh look, more transphobia again. I fail to understand as a fellow human being why you would not want to ensure trans people are safe.
I would like to ensure everyone is safe and treated with dignity, this includes trans people. I don't hate trans people but I don't think ANY group should be prioritised over others. The MRAs on the other hand can fuck right off.

Pants, just remembered some MNers use screen-readers and can't access content in screenshots.

Here's the text of that image above.

A female inmate at Logan Correctional Facility, Illinois’ largest women’s prison, has claimed in a lawsuit that she was raped by a transgender inmate, a biological male transferred from a men’s prison.

The woman, whose name is not revealed in the lawsuit, also alleges Illinois Department of Corrections officials covered up the rape and punished her for reporting it, claiming the rape allegation was “false.”

I think you may have the wrong forum. Or have naively believed a whole slew of misogynists. I don't believe you will find many posters on this board who want to trans people to be anything but safe.

I think you will find though that posters on this board are imminently more interested in progressing the rights of those with female sexed bodies, however they identify, against the millennia of discrimination they have faced and are STILL facing.

Disclaimer: 'female' is defined as any person that has a body formed around the production of large gametes, regardless of whether those gametes have been produced, will be produced, or are being produced.

@OhHolyJesus

Did you call?
Ooh, I'm glad you're here, I have some questions. Mostly on transubstantiation.

No you haven't 'obviously had to turn down a job' OP.

There are people out there desperate for work who don't have the ability to turn jobs down based on their beliefs.

EmpressWitchDoesntBurn · 22/04/2021 18:06

You did the right thing, Trixie.

So it's only male to female we don't care about, then
EmpressWitchDoesntBurn · 22/04/2021 18:07

I can imagine Oasis singing Prosecco Stormfront.

Erkrie · 22/04/2021 18:10

No you haven't 'obviously had to turn down a job' OP.

It seems as though she certainly has had to.

There are people out there desperate for work who don't have the ability to turn jobs down based on their beliefs

Why is that relevant to the above point?

Helleofabore · 22/04/2021 18:11

Butwasitherdriveway

I don't know what you care about at all.

I care about the rights for all females** regardless of how they identify. Because they needed those rights once, and they still do, and they will do so in the future. Whether they agree that they need those rights or not is up to them. Either way, they have and probably will benefit in the future.

So it's only male to female we don't care about, then

This is Feminist Chat, a board focused on supporting the female sex.

That fact is quite often missed, isn't it?

Often in a rush to cast aspersions. I guess we won't have long to wait.

Erkrie · 22/04/2021 18:17

Prosecco storm front is really quite offensive. A certain charity really need to review the hateful social media put out by their employees. It doesn't look good. I think I need to start making official complaints about this behaviour.

IHateCoronavirus · 22/04/2021 18:17

Well done for keeping your principals op Flowers something will come up.

Erkrie · 22/04/2021 18:20

That fact is quite often missed, isn't it?

Yes. But a little scroll up to the top of the page reveals all, should they find themselves lost on the t'internet. Feminism chat. Right up there. ☝️

I disagree, the role is key in the removal of the rights of women from this institution and deliberately misrepresents equality laws. Accepting the role would have made me not only complicit but responsible. I had no choice as I for one will not throw other women under the bus to get a paycheck. I agree I'm in a privileged position to be able to do this and feel outraged for the women who don't have the same option to make the choices I have.

I see.

But it still doesn't make you some kind of martyr, and it's deceitful to pretend you think everyone has these Same beliefs as you.

Butwasitherdriveway · 22/04/2021 18:31

Perhaps you could tell is exactly the reasons?

ListeningQuietly · 22/04/2021 18:32

I admit that if I'd been in @Trixie78 s place
I'd have taken the job
and then annotated each draft policy with the legislation links that support / contradict the updates
that way those rejecting the updates are on the record as rejecting UK law

but then I'm like that Grin

AssassinatedBeauty · 22/04/2021 18:32

The OP is neither trying to be a martyr nor claiming everyone else has the same beliefs as her.
