Knew this would happen, had to turn down job

I'm furious, have been out of work for a while. Was offered a temporary contract writing and implementating policy for a public sector organisation. Just up my street and would really have helped us out. Turns out they're Stonewall champions and are full on TWAW and have all rights to anything they want. I asked to review some of their current policies and it's all cisgender crap and lists of stuff we must and mustn't do to make all Trans people safe. We'll I've obviously had to turn down the role and worse I told the recruiter why so will probably never get a job through them now. There are companies out there that haven't bought into all this crap aren't there?

Oh, and even organisations like Mermaids are distancing themselves from the whole 'born in the wrong body' shower of shit, so you're really barking up the wrong tree there.
Aw really?

If mermaids said it il have to retract it. Hmm

CorvusPurpureus · 22/04/2021 22:00

Also known as transphobia

So, umm, PP's son was now being transphobic for his unformed thoughts on male & female brains? Yet a minute ago you agreed with him?

I'm never quite sure, Driveway, if you're a very confused poster who gets the wrong ends of lots of sticks, or if it's all a cynical gish gallop, tbh.

Butwasitherdriveway · 22/04/2021 22:01
@Butwasitherdriveway

Nope, that's not an opinion, that's a well documented fact.
Hence why I talk about arrogance and ego.

You don't decide what feminism is.

@Butwasitherdriveway

You make a lot of leaps, don't you?

VanGoghsDog · 22/04/2021 22:02

But do you not think it's odd that an Op has said she's leaving a job because she doesn't like the policies (that she hasn't given ) and people have applauded her?

No. I think people can post as much or as little detail as they wish and other posters can respond as they wish.

It may have escaped your notice but there are literally hundreds of thousands of MN posters who have not posted on this thread. Maybe they think oh well, she didn't say what policies so I can't support her. Who knows?

Unlike the posters who are making up that OP is right despite having zero evidence for this? Ok hun.

Or maybe, they look at the feminism board and think oh hello no.

Like many of us.

Anyone who thinks that it isn't the case that some people think they were born in the wrong body shouldn't really be able to give an opinion on the issue. I think what PP thinks is embarrassment is rather him knowing he's wasting his time.

As I clearly explained, he said there are male brains and female brains. He realised that he was therefore telling me I must have a female brain. I didn't mention people being born in the wrong body, his internet story was male brains could be in female bodies.

Do you think there are male brains and female brains?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/04/2021 22:03

It is blindingly obvious that from your posts you don't like, agree with, or believe in anything to do with transgender.

That is transphobic.

No. I don't subscribe to this particular ideological belief system. Just like I don't hate Christians or Muslims just because I don't believe in God. I won't believe in God, and you can call me a heretic as much as you like, but it won't change my belief.

No. But I think people can believe their brain is different from their body and they are in the wrong body.

Is that ok with you?

countrypunk · 22/04/2021 22:04

@Butwasitherdriveway

Hmmm... I never claimed that that definition of feminism was my own. So another leap there.

Cool.

So is there a difference between being homophobic and transphobic then?

Sorry, I must have misunderstood. I thought you were telling me something was a documented fact when in fact it's an opinion.

LostToucan · 22/04/2021 22:05

I'd love to see this lot last two seconds in AIBU.

Please do head over there and give your thoughts on the parking threads.

Or, from the current threads, your thoughts on bra sizes, regretting having a 7 month old, being upset with the hairdresser, walking alone in forests or being old, fat and knackered.

OwBist · 22/04/2021 22:05

I thought the OP had clearly articulated that her issue was around her professional concerns around being asked to write, disseminate, train and defend policies which she knows are not compliant with current law. Which would lead to her personally being exposed to censure, as well as it being against her personal views. How we got into personal insults, I don't know, but it would be great if it would stop.

VanGoghsDog · 22/04/2021 22:05

Yes, fair enough. And so what? There's a fuckton of stuff on the internet I feel like that about. No-one forces you to read it, let alone join in.

Butwasitherdriveway · 22/04/2021 22:06

@Ereshkigalangcleg

I was interested to know what the policies were that so compelled OP to jump and PP to support her 14, pages ago. Nobody has talked about them. I wonder why.
CorvusPurpureus · 22/04/2021 22:06

Driveway - I'm sure that's what you thought you'd posted, but if you read your post properly, you'll see that it wasn't.

Anyway, Bunbury is as always wise on the subject of derailment.

Glad the 🍷 is helping, OP!

But what are hese policies?

She didn't say that in her OP. She talked about stonewall and 'cisgender crap' which she knew would attract this lot to cheer her on .

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/04/2021 22:06

So is there a difference between being homophobic and transphobic then?

That rather hinges on how you define them, doesn't it? If you define transphobia in the catch all way that you appear to, then there may not be in your eyes. But there is in mine. My definition of transphobia centres on the human right of people to dress and identify as they wish, without being victimised or discriminated against.

itsalifetimesworkfella · 22/04/2021 22:07

How annoying Op but better to leave them to it.

We had training on these sort of policies at work. We all sat quiet as the trainer launched through it all but once they left we discussed it and not ONE person bought any of it.

Just a tick box exercise.

Best summed up by the comment 'what a load of shite'

But you do discriminate against them eresh.
