Pregnant people?

Trustisamust · 11/04/2021 03:12

So our local NHS Trust have finally updated their guidance re allowing partners to attend pregnancy scans etc.
They now refer to pregnant people, not pregnant women.
I don't know if I am being unreasonable here but this does not sit comfortably with me?

It is no real surprise that there is no similar campaign from transmen creating a stushie about being "men". That's because they are women and are just happy to be the gender they prefer, they do not feel the need to force themselves and their dogma onto other men.

It seems that men have always like to dominate women and here they are doing it again! As transwomen.

And, we (women) are expected to suck it up and accept defeat.

No. We won't.

This isn't talked about often enough. Why is the push always coming from men? @ASugarr maintains the NHS have to make these changes by stealth so as not to upset men.

Aye very good.

and how do they know they are men? I mean if men and woman are just charachteristicless blobs floating around waiting to be assigned a gender how come they know who to start with first.

ASugarr · 12/04/2021 10:02

@transbadger

I mentioned earlier that it will be happening. However it is an ongoing change. The NHS know the reaction isn't going to go very well, especially with men. So they've done it so changes for young people have been made for a while now. Now changes in the female side are being made, and finally the male side. Then overall everything will have changed.

Hmm... creepy. Sinister. Get those changes in by stealth and then, when anyone complains, it's wide-eyed innocence and "what? It's been this way for years. Keep up with the times."

As always the trans lobby working backwards from their pre-determined conclusions.

Having followed your shenanigans on this board for the past couple of weeks now @ASugarr I don't believe a word you say anyway.

Cool thank you 🤍
Whatwouldscullydo · 12/04/2021 10:06

What, no answer on how men and women are identifiable when it comes to who to ignore or screw over but no other time ?

transbadger · 12/04/2021 10:08

@AnxietySugar_ (@ASugarr) is currently on Twitter linking to this thread and asking Mumsnet to "ban transgender conversations on your platform."

Apparently this would be "great" for the following reasons (and I quote directly):

"The usual terfs and "I'm not cisgender" women who don't understand gender are arguing amongst themselves."

"The comments on the site are harmful."

The "arguments around transgender people have nothing to do with feminism. It's allowing homophobia and transphobia to grow on your platform."

"Every conversation I'm in where I give my professional view on transgender lives, your users insult me."

@ASugarr concludes that we shouldn't be allowed to discuss these topics at all on the FWR boards as these are not feminist discussions.

I would ask Mumsnet why they are happy to let someone continually try to sabotage a female space and stop women from having discussions.

As someone who has been thinking about gender for as long as our recent visitor has been alive, I find it humorous to be told that we "don't understand gender".

As for being expected to take someone's self described "professional" status as fact on an anonymous chat platform, well that's even more entertaining. And to be then expected to take their pronouncements in their "professional" capacity as gospel, hilarious.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/04/2021 10:12

The usual terfs and "I'm not cisgender" women who don't understand gender are arguing amongst themselves."

Oh? I thought our non trans, non "cis" identities were respected? I'm disappointed.

Whatwouldscullydo · 12/04/2021 10:14

Love how gender has been remotely defined or explained and we are apparently the ones who don't understand.

Whatwouldscullydo · 12/04/2021 10:15

Has not been

Incorrect. I don't think the use of the word transgender if the use of the word cisgender can't be used. Plus the threads on here aren't about feminist issues. They tend to be transphobic comments.

Whatwouldscullydo · 12/04/2021 10:17

I mean apparently its evident on brain scans but brain.scans aren't part of the dx.

It has a definition and can be applied accordingly but no one can tell someone's gender so you have to ask them and believe them and the questions are top secret.

Which is it?

Erm...

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/04/2021 10:17

Plus the threads on here aren't about feminist issues.

All things to do with the definition of women and challenging women's sex based rights are feminist issues. That they also concern trans issues doesn't negate their being feminist issues.

DdraigGoch · 12/04/2021 10:18

@SaturdayRocks

Other members of the animal kingdom don’t need to transition between male and female, because there are no societal expectations on their sex. So they just are.
The animal kingdom is full of societal expectations based upon sex.

You may not yet have worked this out ASugar, but someone saying something is true doesn't actually mean it is. It's a useful life lesson for you, will help you to improve your critical thinking.

Yeah it would be useful for you all considering you are arguing with scientists and doctors on this. If you don't agree then cool don't agree, but then don't go complaining about it and insulting people when they try to explain it to you.
AlwaysTawnyOwl · 12/04/2021 10:22

@SaturdayRocks

If we accept that ‘woman’ is gender-based, it still needs a definition.

What does ‘woman’ mean?

What does ‘man’ mean?

Honestly this is what it all boils down to doesn't it? Starting all arguments with TWAWso that means......., Woman is a gender term si that means.....

But what is this mysterious 'woman gender'? How do we know we've got it? How do we define amd describe it? I've asked this question numerous times on Twitter to those who tell me that TWAW. I've asked ASugarr who said she had a questionnaire but couldn't let us have any of the questions as they were 'confidential'. But there's never any answer. Either they know it's based on stereotypes but don't dare say so or they have never actually thought it through.

It's a statement of belief rather than fact.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/04/2021 10:23

I'm not arguing with scientists and doctors on this thread, I'm arguing with a random person on the internet who hasn't managed to make a coherent argument.

AssassinatedBeauty · 12/04/2021 10:23

You are not a scientist or a doctor, we are discussing this with you. Stating your opinion claiming it is what scientists/doctors would say is not a valid approach to discussion.

Whatwouldscullydo · 12/04/2021 10:23

If it was definable in any medical way. Through any kind of test would you need self ID and top secret questionnaires? I bet the questions have ficus on toys akd wrong bodies too which if you listen to.mermaids are not the case so you are working on out dated info

Helleofabore · 12/04/2021 10:24

Is someone trying to force change our definitions of ourselves again? and even dictate what we can discuss? Because we are also told what should and shouldn’t impact on us all the time.

What a shock!! Must be a day ending in a ‘y’!

ASugarr · 12/04/2021 10:27

@AssassinatedBeauty

Yet I'm giving you the reasons and information behind this as someone who works alongside doctors and scientists. If you don't want to have a discussion on this then what's the point of the thread asking why this has happened? Look I'm done with just being insulted for trying to help and answer what OP had to say. Hopefully MumsNet will ban the use of the word transgender so you all can stop making transphobic and inappropriate threads that lead to no good.

You realize medical professionals can't tell you everything because of safeguarding and confidentiality? Do you not want people to have that? It is a right for medical services to not give out all this information and is important also that young people have the right to this too.
AlwaysTawnyOwl · 12/04/2021 10:29

ASugarr Many of us ARE scientists and doctors - myself I'm a physicist by training. It's what makes these boards so interesting - there are so many clever and well educated scientists, doctors, lawyers, psychologists and many others from whom I have learnt a lot.

Whatwouldscullydo · 12/04/2021 10:30

Are you going to answer how we know of we have a gender ID and how we can determine.its a woman.one ?

I mean there are 33 million women and girls in the uk all with different personalities so.what are the common.factors of thise gender ID? Even.nermaids think.there are millions of gender identities.
