@Ereshkigalangcleg

Being critical of "gender" does not equal transphobia. I don't think you quite understand what feminism is, or transphobia, ASugarr.
That's your opinion and I disagree. Have a good bank holiday everyone 🤍
WhatWouldPhyllisCraneDo · 05/04/2021 17:05

Well it's unknown who did it so no one can confirm or deny what. It's still a terrible thing. Also that doesn't make GC people okay or anything.

So grafitti may or may not have been done by some GC people.
All that means is that some GC people aren't nice. Actually they probably are nice, they just did a bad thing.

You know, much in the same way that Karen White doesn't mean all trans women are rapists.

GoingThruTheMotions · 05/04/2021 17:05

We'll never know because you know what. Two women die every week from domestic abuse and no one puts up memorials for them. Two a week. So that should tell you how much outcry there'd be because women's deaths are so common they barely register.

And also, feminists didn't do the graffiti or the murdering (I assume, but statistics are on my side here) so you have no point.

334bu · 05/04/2021 17:07

Nobody is condoning the defacing of the memorial. However, there is no evidence that the same people tagged the centre and yet you said the graffiti there was transphobic. Which bits ? What transphobia?

Thought you might be interested to see some quote-Tweet comments from Spanish feminists on the Twitter thread.

I think most people here would condemn anyone's memorial being vandalised. Why are you expecting us to be concerned with whether a woman is "cisgender"? What do you mean by that? You identify as "cisgender" but as we established on another thread, most women do not recognise themselves in this niche identity label. So not sure why we would find that relevant detail or especially compelling, Asugarr?

Yes but you clearly don't know what feminism is or who it's for, so your opinion on this matter can be easily dismissed as not relevant. Have a lovely rest of the day Smile

@ASugarr

Well it's unknown who did it so no one can confirm or deny what. It's still a terrible thing. Also that doesn't make GC people okay or anything. Clearly whoever deframed the memorial was gender critical so still links there. There isn't really such a thing as a gender critical feminist (plus the murder thing is weird to input)...
That’s the exact definition of a feminist!
334bu · 05/04/2021 17:20

Phone, keys,cards, mask, hand steriliser and paint thinners , just what everyone now carries around with them

Leafstamp · 05/04/2021 17:20

@Leafstamp

Also that doesn't make GC people okay or anything

Are you saying GC people are not ok @ASugarr ?

Any chance you could answer my question @ASugarr

And if the answer is indeed that you don’t think GC people are ok, why is that?

Erkrie · 05/04/2021 17:21

I honestly don't know why she bothers coming on here to make an absolute fool of herself

Probably because eventually the threads she is on get deleted. It seems to be a way of trolling Mumsnet that she's been allowed to get away with.

334bu · 05/04/2021 17:21

????????

toffeebutterpopcorn · 05/04/2021 17:24

Can I ask - is the c word on the deletion list?

Leafstamp · 05/04/2021 17:26

why she bothers coming on here to make an absolute fool of herself

It’s actually rather sad. It’s not a healthy thing to do for someone who struggles with their mental health IMO.

Soontobe60 · 05/04/2021 17:26

@ASugarr

If you don't understand the transphobia and misogyny behind the graffiti, just think if this was done to a cisgender woman. This woman died of domestic abuse and someone felt it was necessary to ruin her memorial. If you still don't see the issue, then I'm afraid I cant help you.
This transwoman died after a fall and had drugs and alcohol in her system. 2 Post mortems came to the same conclusion. No DV.
FeckTheMagicDragon · 05/04/2021 17:26

Thank you to the people who replied. I will try and report and rephrase (and yes a list of banned acronyms would be very handy.)

So - I was musing on why I started out being sympathetic to trans people, without much understand of any of the mental issues involved, did not see them as a threat, and would support any request for social or medical assistance. But that over time, seeing the impact on women being vilified, doxxed, sacked, threatened, silenced - by activists (many who are not trans, but some particularly aggressive or litigious individuals are) I am now just angry.

Women (who after all are people) are turning away from supporting trans people precisely because of the actions of a very vocal, aggressive group who are demanding that we 'be kind'. Why would I continue to 'be kind' if I am threatened or attacked? I won't, I will just turn my back.

This kind of activism is so counter productive. I wish they would just stop.

@toffeebutterpopcorn

No, not unless the person is deliberately trying to provoke or inflame.
Mummyoflittledragon · 05/04/2021 17:27

@toffeebutterpopcorn

Can I ask - is the c word on the deletion list?
Officially yes, but unofficially, no.
Mummyoflittledragon · 05/04/2021 17:28

Ok that’s a better explanation than mine, I’m pissed off and I consider that ASugar is here to provoke. She knows it pisses us off. But she’s just using it to express herself apparently. Hmm

FeckTheMagicDragon · 05/04/2021 17:29

Erkrie, I think the answer is just to ignore. Turn your back and ignore.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 05/04/2021 17:30

Why not? Why is it not banned? The only people I see using it are people trying to get a rise
from /insult (mostly) women, or (mostly) women wanting to show how ‘right on’ they are.

It doesn’t generally get flung at men does it?

toffeebutterpopcorn · 05/04/2021 17:31

Last time I expressed myself on here, I got put on the naughty step...

Sophoclesthefox · 05/04/2021 17:32

No, not unless the person is deliberately trying to provoke or inflame

Hmm

And yet...

Leafstamp · 05/04/2021 17:35

I consider that ASugar is here to provoke.

Me too. But that says more about her.

Some people get a dopamine hit from provocation. Very unhealthy.
