Superstraight is trending on twitter. No I hadn't either.

Its a subcategory of straight that means that straight people can now be included in the lgbtqi+ categories. Or something. Hooray! Fight for my superstraight rights too Stonewall!. Or something

@CorvusPurpureus

I teach Latin, & approve of this prefix. It's widely used & understood, where 'c1s' is not.
I'm still angling for working prope in somewhere.
RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 08/03/2021 16:39

And reddog !

CorvusPurpureus · 08/03/2021 16:39

Could work for lib fems?

It's 'prope-feminism', as in 'nigh to feminism but yeah no'.

They could have 'quasifem' as a splinter group?

PotholeParadies · 08/03/2021 16:42

Yes!

Lisz · 08/03/2021 17:03

Why do the GCs always end up ultimately on the same side / in the same place as the far-right? There's a hollowness behind the 'laughter' (such as it is) and these bursts of fake-outrage never last more than a couple of weeks anyway ('straight pride' etc). It hardly seems worth gettng into bed with the 4Chan fratboys, i mean if only for sake of one's dignity if nothing else.

WarOnWomen · 08/03/2021 17:09

Been at work all day and judd seet turned on phone and I see this has just continued to explode on social media. From super straight month (Super Straight September) to people thinking about parades.

What I'm seeing on that Reddit sub is that lots of people are now learning about cotton and boxer ceiling, which is all to the good.

I'm sure that there are transphobes who are jumping on the bandwagon but the vast majority of people just seem to be having fun with it while making a valid point. Lots of clever memes too.

WarOnWomen · 08/03/2021 17:09

I'm in the same bed as women who don't want men in their bed and don't want to be in the closet about it.

I'm happy with that.
I signed up for that in approximately 1996 when I learnt what homophobia was. Ilesbians and gay men since

Because reality doesn't change its truth depending on who observes it.

Why do TRAs seem to end up making the same tyoe of threats of violence to women as MRAs?

SunsetBeetch · 08/03/2021 17:15

Are people just pretending they haven't see all the posts explaining that this wasn't started by 4Chan and that they only latched onto it later?

This is getting really tedious now.

Are you suggesting we change our views because of other peoples' views? How odd. I think you'll find most here have independence of thought. Hopefully you will too one day.
MaudTheInvincible · 08/03/2021 17:19

Birds of a feather. Isn't one just a known sub-set of the other?

MichelleofzeResistance · 08/03/2021 17:22

Please can someone explain to me why a lesbian woman being allowed to be a homosexual is a far right position? (And therefore supposably a bad thing?)

Small words might help.

nauticant · 08/03/2021 17:22

A holistic response to all the stuff raised in your post Lisz is the word "sunlight". It's popular with many people whether they are GC or not.

Italiangreyhound · 08/03/2021 17:24

MoleSmokes your post at 15:52 speaks volumes. That writing. How dare someone criticise lesbians for wanting females. How fucking awful. It is conversion 'therapy'.

Yes, I know it's been happening for years but when you see it so blatantly. So sad.

DialSquare · 08/03/2021 17:25

Some people are really really upset about this aren't they.

Carolina24 · 08/03/2021 17:25

It’s an obvious parody, and embarrassing for anyone who couldn’t recognise that right away.

Italiangreyhound · 08/03/2021 17:26

I can't see any dignity in trying to erase people's sexuality.

MrsWooster · 08/03/2021 17:28

Yeah, right, but 4chan

eaglerising · 08/03/2021 17:34

Yeah, right, but 4chan

Can't tar everybody with the same sexual orientation with the same brush. Some transgender people have been convicted of rape....

nauticant · 08/03/2021 17:35

It is a parody but it's also making a serious point: people being exclusive in the choice of partners according to their sexual orientation is not transphobic. This means that there can be a two-pronged response to the utterly insane reactions of the trans activists, speaking on the level of the real argument some of the time and taking the piss the rest of the time.

Which gives rise to the optics visible to those new to this issue: one side driven by hatred advocating sexual coercion and rape and making death threats and the other side responding in a mostly measured and rational way while having a laugh.

eaglerising · 08/03/2021 17:35

There are heterosexual murderers...

eaglerising · 08/03/2021 17:37

people being exclusive in the choice of partners according to their sexual orientation is not transphobic.

Just like it's not homophobic to be heterosexual.

WoolOfBat · 08/03/2021 17:43

A lot of super straight males are super surprised that they suddenly are being asked to choke on girl d*ck.

It is sad that there is so much hate out there.

eaglerising · 08/03/2021 17:43

Ironic really. It's kicking off so much and people can't even really date at the moment. People are kicking off with death threats just because a 16 year old boy has said on social media he is not physically attracted to trans women. And we are supposed to live in a progressive society?
