Bunbury's Ninth Public Announcement - Hill Walking Club

The useful Bunbury Guide to Spotting Community Disruptors is constantly evolving.

The best research and advice is not to engage with community disruptors and trolls. As ever, if you suspect troll activity, report it to MNHQ.

This is a continuation of the Public Service Announcement thread:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/a4164702-Bunbury-s-Eighth-Sealion-training-for-beginners?msgid=105201850#105201850

If and when you see threads plopped into FWR, especially a curious repeat of well worn topics, maybe check for poster history before engaging. AS is your friend.

There are a number of posts/posters/threads that are reproduced on Twitter or Facebook to foment controversy using screen shots & flagging to either MNHQ to have threads or posters deleted.. Sometimes, it’s used to approach commissioning editors with ideas for articles. It’s a tiresome tactic that we always have community disruptor posters who themselves post the comments that they then highlight elsewhere as purported evidence of racism, religious intolerance, anti-men sentiments, or transphobia.

This thread will be taking a leisurely stroll through the foothills of community disruption, noting the behaviour of wildlife and interesting flora and fauna en route.

Good grief! Can't comment as I'd get deleted so searches instead for the malt loaf and a wee dram.

ArabellaScott · 03/03/2021 20:52

Last time I saw an otter in the wild I shouted really loudly in excitement. Scared the poor thing back into the water. Everyone else around me was not best pleased to be informed they'd just missed it.

Oooh, look what I found in the picnic basket - jaffa cakes! Brilliant.

PersistentWoman I've had one comment deleted because I said all of these "guest" threads remind me of Brexit when every thread in Active was the same.

JoodyBlue · 03/03/2021 21:04

Amazing women, all of you. Don't you ever get so tired though? I am so tired of reading illogic, and tantrumming, and all the jargon. And the egocentricity and entitlement. I don't think I have any energy to contribute anything polite to any more discussions right now. Cheers to you all.

Beamur · 03/03/2021 21:06

Fancy a port now.
DH is an otter whisperer. He's seen them several times in Scotland. Am concerned that they might be bad animals now though...he thinks he startled a pine marten in the summer.
Walking poles are actually really good. I have a knee injury and walking with poles hugely improves my balance, apparently takes a lot of pressure off joints too.

persistentwoman · 03/03/2021 21:07

And someone will have reported that HermitsLife.
I've taken great pleasure today in reading some of the comments under various crowd funders - thousands of ordinary women and so many men - all happily contributing their hard earned money. Makes me feel quite optimistic.

fatblackcatspaw · 03/03/2021 21:07

I don't want to go walking I'm sick of walking I want someone to wheel me along in a bath chair....

Beamur · 03/03/2021 21:07

Joodyblue
Sometimes it's better just to chat about wellies and cake Cake

midgedude · 03/03/2021 21:08

How about you stay at base camp and monitor tea supplies ?

Mollyollydolly · 03/03/2021 21:12

Sod it ... off to Tesco for some cheese cake.

midgedude · 03/03/2021 21:13

That's phobic that is, I can't eat cheesecake , you need to redefine cheesecake to include fruitcake and lemon drizzle and bake well tart

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 03/03/2021 21:14

I was certain I saw a pine marten in a wood in Buckinghamshire a few years ago: it started the bejazus out of me because I thought they only happened in Scotland, but it really didn't look like a black squirrel, it was the wrong shape. And anyway, aren't those meant to be in the USA rather than here?

Delphinium20 · 03/03/2021 21:14

Just place-marking my hiking boots. Mine were a great discount from REI.

Mollyollydolly · 03/03/2021 21:15

I'll buy them all, mush it up and eat the lot.

persistentwoman · 03/03/2021 21:16

I did go and add a couple of Soreen malt loaves to the online order for the weekend. Smile

ArabellaScott · 03/03/2021 21:20

I'm thinking it might be good practise for when my littles are teenagers, Joody. Grin

Well, bit windy down there in the carpark right now, isn't it? Bits of rubbish flying absolutely everywhere. Glad I brought a hip flask - anyone in need of a restorative swig?

ErrolTheDragon · 03/03/2021 21:49

My DD used to have a black squirrel outside her student house. They called it the Dark Lord, iirc.
I've seen otters both times I've been to Mull (awesome place for wildlife).

Portals... hmm... let's see...

SunsetBeetch · 03/03/2021 21:50

Did anyone else know that stoats can swim? One of my facebook friends posted a video of one. I now think the "small otter" I saw swimming in the river a few months ago might have been a stoat. Mind. Blown.

Wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 03/03/2021 21:52

Yes please

ErrolTheDragon · 03/03/2021 21:53

....Yep, Badley Fuckitt still there after about a year and a half. Be careful with the name, autocorrect tried to insert a W.HmmGrin

ErrolTheDragon · 03/03/2021 21:54

A 'small otter' swimming could have been a feral mink. I saw one once on our local canal towpath.

WarriorN · 03/03/2021 21:57

I've got Kendal Mint cake! Every good hill hike needs kendal mint cake.
