Dear Owen Jones, we are not frightened of transgender people, we are frightened of men.

There you go, fixed that for you.

@ArabellaScott
You’ve obviously never been to the one on Salford Quays!! It’s a really odd shape, its got an upstairs which is sometimes open, sometimes not, and the staff are all wannabe actors hoping to get talent spotted from the TV execs popping in for take out lunch

DickKerrLadies · 26/01/2021 08:21

@merrymouse

How much time is OJ spending on MN?

None, I would guess.

He probably just sees tweets about posts.

TBF, our monitors provide an excellent service by stalking us and reporting all our heresy witchcraft threads to their twitter followers so that OJ and others don't have to.

@Silvetmoon

I don’t understand how the Guardian can continue giving him a platform, it reflects on them terribly.
Even if you know nothing about the issue, if staff are accusing each other of being in a cult, the editor’s position should not be to pretend nothing is happening.
EdgeOfACoin · 26/01/2021 08:37

I don't think OJ spends much time here.

Didn't he do an interview recently where he was quite dismissive of the idea that women would lose out in sport because mtf transitioners would take their places? (I thought someone mentioned such an interview - I haven't seen it myself.)

Anyone who has glanced at Mumsnet knows there have been plenty of cases where this has happened. Some try to minimise the issue but they can't pretend that it doesn't exist altogether.

OJ, I think, doesn't even want to know whether it is a problem.

WarOnWomen · 26/01/2021 08:41

What's the issue with Weetabix?

OJ:Secret Mumsnetter Grin

Cuntysnark · 26/01/2021 08:43

I’m loving this thread. I can confirm you can’t run across slurry. Too outing to explain but it’s true.

The pudding analogy-lemon meringue pie that someone forgot to put sugar in the lemon component. Soft and fluffy on the outside (ok I’m stretching it) but bitter underneath. Particularly handy if the pastry is hard & brittle. It’s not a good lemon meringue pie.

ArabellaScott · 26/01/2021 09:44

No desire to break up the pudding-party, but wanted to note:

There is enormous sensitivity to anyone on MN ever using the Saw You Last Tuesday word, to the extent I now don't type it out for fear of being deleted.

If the latest tack is suggesting that gc feminism is some kind of SawYou, this is interesting. Why would anybody be floating that idea?

For the avoidance of doubt, cults are common, and I think it's always healthy to question any movement/group to check it's not showing elements of cultish behaviour.

Cults usually share certain patterns/characteristics:

    It uses psychological coercion to recruit and indoctrinate potential members. (e.g. love bombing, isolation, confusion, rules, abuse)

    It forms an elitist totalitarian society.

    Its founder leader is self-appointed, dogmatic, messianic, not accountable and has charisma.

    It believes the end justifies the means in order to solicit funds or recruit people.

    Its wealth does not benefit its members or society.

And if Talcum X was a pudding what would he be?

A gooseberry fool with the sugar left out. Sour, bitter and slimey.

BurningBright · 26/01/2021 09:57

Or slimy, even...

Pyewhacket · 26/01/2021 10:01

Is that men as a class or men as a concept or just all men, irrespective ?.

AbsintheFriends · 26/01/2021 10:33

A gooseberry fool with the sugar left out. Sour, bitter and slimey.

A fool for sure. Any kind.

MaudTheInvincible · 26/01/2021 10:34

There is enormous sensitivity ...

I didn't know that, Arabella. Interesting.

Wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 26/01/2021 10:51

If Talcum X was a pudding he'd be a raw vegan cheesecake.

NotBadConsidering · 26/01/2021 11:01

With regards to his rant, one of his tweets stated a question being excluded is “Why are there no trans Olympic medallists [sic]?”

Why is this always brought up? I worked out the other that hundreds of women and girls have been negatively affected by just 6 trans athletes. The fact that Jones can’t see these women and girls says it all really. His attitude is utterly vile.

ArabellaScott · 26/01/2021 11:12

@MaudTheInvincible

There is enormous sensitivity ...

I didn't know that, Arabella. Interesting.

I've had posts deleted more than once for mentioning/asking about possible correlations. Deleted very, very quickly. As have others.

Of course, one of the signs of such a group is abhorrence & disallowing of any kind of dissent, questioning or criticism. A 'no debate' kind of stance wrt tenets.

zanahoria · 26/01/2021 14:47

One day, there will be TV programmes about the onslaught against trans people. Those who victimised trans people today will be portrayed in them. They'll go down in history as hate figures

ArabellaScott · 26/01/2021 14:51

He's made the thread longer. Crikey. Man really is drunk on his own self righteousness.

WichBitchHarpyTerfThatsMe · 26/01/2021 15:12

I now have an image in my head of Tinsel hurtling across a swimming pool full of trifle.

WarOnWomen · 26/01/2021 15:19

Sadly, it's too late to save all too many LGBTQ people who had ticking time bombs inserted into them both by society and by their homophobic and transphobic parents. They detonated.

Is it me or is that imagery a bit dubious?

'I joined the Mumsnet cult and all I got was this lesbian wife and $50k in rinsed Xtian evangelist funds and no fucking custard. '

MichelleofzeResistance · 26/01/2021 15:27

Custard's still way more interesting.

ArabellaScott · 26/01/2021 15:34

It's not you, War. He is coming off as a bit unhinged, tbh. Lockdown's doing funny things to lots of people.

EdgeOfACoin · 26/01/2021 15:42

He really can't see the difference, can he?

I wonder what he makes of the Keira Bell judgment. Surely a bright young chap like him has read it.

I fail to see how parents seeking to stop their children being put on a pathway to lifelong medication, unnecessary surgery and sterilisation are the bad ones here.

Nomnomarrgh · 26/01/2021 15:42

@TyroTerf spotted dick is still very much around today, although I understand Cambridge City Council tried to rename it Spotted Richard, to much consternation.
