I love being on HRT so much, but being happy about it is just making me cry more" says Green Party Women's leader

The new chair of Green Party Women, a transwoman going under the name of Kathryn Bristow, one of whose personal pronouns is `fae' (no me neither), is really thrilled at the effects of her HRT (that's where it all is! No shortage for some!) recently tweeted:

twitter.com/KathrynBristow/status/1343259759701618688?s=20

"Just started crying for no particular reason.
It's so wonderful, I've always just wanted to be able to feel my emotions. I love being on HRT so much, but being happy about it is just making me cry more".

The casual and offensive sexist stereotyping is off the scale of course.

A quick glance through her tweets shows absolutely zero interest in er, Green stuff. No tweets about climate change, animal welfare, recycling... anything remotely environmental at all.

I know the Green Party's innate misogyny is nothing new here but I had to vent. They are going from bad to worse. The trouble is, those not active on Twitter or social media are not aware of the danger this Party poses.

I'm not even sure if Kathryn is even transitioned?

And why do so many transwomen have an annoying little `cute' smile in their profile pics? It's just annoying.

I used to have a position of responsibility in the Green Party in the noughties and there was none of this rubbish. We were completely consumed with environmental concerns and animal welfare. People used to make fun of us because we were beardy and sandal clad and unworldly but at least we were authentic.

Anyway, as a Green, I'm not really liking this person so far, based on this callous, misogynistic and downright insane tweet:

mobile.twitter.com/KathrynBristow/status/1343576561627361281

I would LOVE to forget about sex and remove it as a concept, but unfortunately the female body won't let me do that. Spoken like a true prostate owner...

It just beggars belief

Needmoresleep · 30/12/2020 19:41

Does Sian Berry genuinely expect good rational people to give up their time to canvass for ‘leaders’ like this? And does she expect that the message being given out is one that will appeal to an average floating voter?

I am convinced that people disaffected with other parties (plenty of Tories don’t like Boris, and plenty of Labour/libdems feel homeless) would vote Green if it had a clear environmental message, and the cohesion to focus on that message.

But that is a very long way from where it is now.

PotholeParadies · 30/12/2020 19:43

Here is something that came up earlier in the year, regarding the Green Party position on TW. Sian Berry is co-leader of the party in England and Wales, so this is not just a member of a branch being opinionated on twitter.

Regarding double-standards, it reminds me of the Mrs Gloss make-up group. A woman and a transwoman posting selfies of themselves always got a very different tone of reply.

FreshFreesias · 30/12/2020 19:53

Sian Berry is awful. The smugness and sanctimony is off the scale.

@MichelleofzeResistance

Women's officer, doing something women in a political post wouldn't do in public because embarrassing, derogatory and unhelpful to women, and which would pretty much end a woman in a political post ever being taken seriously, being respected or considered fit for the job.

Thereby demonstrating, TW are TW, who can freely behave as TW and be read by the general public as TW, and benefit in doing so from the male privilege which makes a huge difference. Whatever. If TW can and wish to get away with this kind of behaviour and not being taken seriously, crack on. I'm all for diversity in public posts, and the kind of public image they want is something the TW community get to decide for themselves and deal with the consequences of. But by extension this demonstrates that TW should not be in female posts, taking away these opportunities from females and damaging the very hard won little respect and foothold in public life that they have managed to gain.

THIS!

Great membership recruitment strategy.

Kathryb Bristow "loving being on HRT so much..." is not purely a personal statement. Kathryn Bristow is 'Pathway Advisor at GenderGP'. Enthusing about female hormone treatment can only be leading statements in such a job.

.
Here is Kathryn Bristow on the GenderGP site explaining how to change both name and gender marker on passports.

@glinner absolutely slayed the head tilt. After reading his squib on it (on his Substack, I think?) you can't see those headshots in the same way ever again.

And it's not HRT if you're not a woman, because it's not replacing hormones lost via menopause. It's synthetic cross-sex hormones.

I never took them for menopause (although I read that they're good for this dratted insomnia) but it is enraging that women who need HRT are suffering a shortage but there's plenty for unnecessary medication - because aren't we told ad nauseam that it's transphobic to expect that transwomen do anything to alter their bodies?

Cailleach1 · 30/12/2020 20:18

Are they hawking their business then? Promoting cross sex hormones to possible clients?

Is selling cross sex hormones like that still legal in the UK?

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 30/12/2020 20:19

Great membership recruitment strategy.

It worked so well for the lib dems
endofthelinefinally · 30/12/2020 20:26

The green party need to be honest about the fact that they have changed their philosophy, their policies, their raison d'etre. They are now the trans party. Which is fine. People need to be informed about these things. Then they can make their minds up whether to join.
Ditto the lib dems.

Cailleach1 · 30/12/2020 20:28

Reminds me of an interview with Cissie Charlton (Jack Charlton's mother) on Irish tv. She spent a short while working in a wealthy house in London. Food was not to be wasted where she grew up and she compared this with the fact they put milk on the hall tiles to shine them up. She saw this as a waste of the milk. They literally spilt it on the floor when it was designed to be used for nourishment.

I hope no woman has to do without the HRT she needs because resources are being used for males.

Needmoresleep · 30/12/2020 20:29

I agree, but it is so sad.

We need a singles issue environmental party to hold the government of the day to account.

testing987654321 · 30/12/2020 20:34

Well Bristow appears to be on message regarding winning over voters.

These new politicians are a true gift...

To the Tory party.

HermioneWeasley · 30/12/2020 20:40

Kathryn isn’t on HRT as nothing is being “replaced” for Kathryn.

Kathryn’s receding hairline is super feminine 😍😍😍😍

@Cailleach1
"Are they hawking their business then? Promoting cross sex hormones to possible clients?

GenderGP is the front for Helen Webberley, the UK GP who has been suspended by the GMC. GenderGP sells puberty blockers and cross sex hormones to youngsters online, operating from Spain.

The new Green Party Women's Group co chair Kathryn Bristow works for GenderGP (possibly freelance). So Bristow is not a neutral voice when publicly enthusing about cross sex hormones.

.

GenderGP 2018:
' The GP prosecuted for failing to register her online advice services for transgender patients with a health regulator in Wales says she has moved her service to England.

But Helen Webberley admits she has still not registered with inspectors there either.

She was fined £12,000 by a district judge who called the offence "serious".

Her company was also fined for failing to register with Healthcare Inspectorate Wales (HIW).

This is the first criminal conviction for the regulator.

.
GenderGP 2019:
'A transgender teenager who took his own life was getting hormones from unregulated online doctors.

Jayden Lowe, 18, died after being told he would have to wait years for gender reassignment treatment on the NHS. He was paying £30 a month to receive testosterone in the post, an inquest into his death heard.

However, his mum Claire Lowe, 49, has now called for a second inquest after realising the teen received treatment from GenderGP, which operated without a licence between March 2017 and February 2018.

The firm is run by Mike and Helen Webberley, who have both since been suspended by the British Medical Council pending investigation. Mrs Webberley was fined £12,000 in December 2018 after she was found guilty of illegally providing healthcare services from her home.'

'..... Mr and Mrs Webberley are now reported to be moving to Spain to carry on the business.'

Is this true that black and white people have different nail strength? Not sure if Kathryn is asking or assuming?

I love being on HRT so much, but being happy about it is just making me cry more" says Green Party Women's leader
PotholeParadies · 30/12/2020 20:53

I don't think the Green Party can afford to be honest about their change in direction.

At this point, I am a strident GC MNer, but I am trying to imagine what I would have thought of Bristow and faer twitter timeline five years ago, and it wouldn't have impressed me much.

I'm kind of low-hanging lentil-weaving fruit. If the Green Party can't get me and my müesli stash on side, then it won't play with the more centrist among us.

MichelleofzeResistance · 30/12/2020 20:55

The green party need to be honest about the fact that they have changed their philosophy, their policies, their raison d'etre.

I think one of the things I find so offensive and so depressing about this is how obvious it makes it that the women's officer post is seen as nothing more than a token post.

There's no apparent political passion at all, no inspiring leadership for women, or even evidence of basic interest in politics regarding women. No concern at all about appearing vacuous and twee, tweets focused not on sharing any message beyond their personal life. You get the impression that the post is regarded as worthless unless in use to showcase a TW.

So angry. The electorate deserve so much better than this. It's absolutely scandalous that after the Challenor saga we have this.

Cailleach1 · 30/12/2020 21:26

Thanks @ColourMagic. Didn't mean to be twenty questions! The irony is amazing.

Green Party up there presenting itself as being the most ethical and principled on the planet. I am surprised there seems to be no ethical standards to which such members have to adhere. At the very least a declaration of interest as you may profit from any business you tout.

Or maybe that would draw attention to the very dodgy past of this GenderGP; which was revealed when scrutinised by a British court. Criminal conviction, eh. First Wales, onto England and then to Spain etc. etc. One can only wonder why this outfit moved to a different jurisdiction. Maybe Spain have the very high standards and GenderGP wanted that as it now complies with the highest and tightest regulations. That must be it.

Very sad about the teenager taking his own life.

HecatesCats · 30/12/2020 21:35

Actual GP candidate wants to work to make sure all women who believe in biological sex are ultimately unwelcome in the party - thread here in which she's appeasing an individual who is cross that a woman who believes in biological sex is co-chair of Green Party Women. It's not enough, as the candidate points out, that a transwoman and trans allies now make up most of the committee. They are so lost:

I used to vote Green. But then they disavowed human population growth as a factor in climate change because "racist".
