I love being on HRT so much, but being happy about it is just making me cry more" says Green Party Women's leader

The new chair of Green Party Women, a transwoman going under the name of Kathryn Bristow, one of whose personal pronouns is `fae' (no me neither), is really thrilled at the effects of her HRT (that's where it all is! No shortage for some!) recently tweeted:

twitter.com/KathrynBristow/status/1343259759701618688?s=20

"Just started crying for no particular reason.
It's so wonderful, I've always just wanted to be able to feel my emotions. I love being on HRT so much, but being happy about it is just making me cry more".

The casual and offensive sexist stereotyping is off the scale of course.

A quick glance through her tweets shows absolutely zero interest in er, Green stuff. No tweets about climate change, animal welfare, recycling... anything remotely environmental at all.

I know the Green Party's innate misogyny is nothing new here but I had to vent. They are going from bad to worse. The trouble is, those not active on Twitter or social media are not aware of the danger this Party poses.

I'm not even sure if Kathryn is even transitioned?

And why do so many transwomen have an annoying little `cute' smile in their profile pics? It's just annoying.

I used to have a position of responsibility in the Green Party in the noughties and there was none of this rubbish. We were completely consumed with environmental concerns and animal welfare. People used to make fun of us because we were beardy and sandal clad and unworldly but at least we were authentic.

You forgot the "cute little head tilt"

Redshoeblueshoe · 30/12/2020 16:00

Of course she has transitioned, you tell by the headtilt.
I can't get HRT I wonder if I say I'm actually a transwoman that I'll be able to get it ?

Redshoeblueshoe · 30/12/2020 16:00

X post 🤣

terryleather · 30/12/2020 16:02

It's not HRT, it's cross sex hormones.
They didn't have female hormones to replace in the first instance.

KittyValentine · 30/12/2020 16:05

Was this the one who claims to be solo-poly (no me neither) -amorous and was excited to join a Green Party shagging club?

SunsetBeetch · 30/12/2020 16:07

Oh FUCK OFF you sexist wanker!

endofthelinefinally · 30/12/2020 16:08

Oh fgs.
It isn't even HRT (hormone REPLACEMENT therapy).
Biological women all over the UK are facing shortages of actual HRT that they need to control their menopausal symptoms and prevent osteoporosis.

Winesalot · 30/12/2020 16:10

Ahhh! But you forgot the tweet about being 'female' and the more recent one about how the use of the world female is dehumanising. yessss..... dehumanising .....

testing987654321 · 30/12/2020 16:13

I have to say I love this guy, fae are hilarious. Is that how you use it?

Here's another gem to enjoy. Fae is a very serious politician.

I worked all my career in health care and had to keep my nails short and unvarnished. Obviously that must mean I am not a proper woman.
I did birth 3 dc though. Hmm.

PatchworkElmer · 30/12/2020 16:18

Lots of people pointing out the ridiculousness of her statement in the comments...

EdgeOfACoin · 30/12/2020 16:20

How can I put this...

I can't recall a time when a female MP felt the need to Tweet about being on HRT. Furthermore, in my experience, women in positions of responsibility tend not to cry in public or talk about crying, in case it leads people to think that they are weak, overly-emotional or not up to the job.

It is strange how Bristow's Tweet is so unlike anything I would expect a female politician to write.

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 30/12/2020 16:22

@terryleather

Was just about to jump in and say this ^^ It massively pisses me off when people refer to cross-sex and hormone suppressants / supplements as HRT.
EdgeOfACoin · 30/12/2020 16:22

I understand Bristow isn't an MP, but since Bristow is the leader of Green Party Women, I expect Bristow to aspire to a high position within the party.

Funny thing is when i was younger my dad only used the term ‘lady’ or ‘female’ for women

So ‘move out of the ladies way rufus’ or ‘ some stupid female’

It really grated and i never used the word female

I bloody do now! I throw it round with gay abandon!!!!

SunsetBeetch · 30/12/2020 16:28

Oh heck, I hadn't relieved that Kathryn works for Gender GP!

Interesting thread about Gender GP here - expect more horror stories to come:

ColourMagic · 30/12/2020 16:32

The announcement that Kathryn Bristow is now co chair of Green Party Women's group appears to be welcomed by some on the FB page, but others seem to be cross that GC women are also making their views known:

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 30/12/2020 16:32

We were completely consumed with environmental concerns and animal welfare.

Presumably the same reasons most people joined the Green Party. I can’t see many bothering to join for its current obsessions, which can be more easily pursued on Twitter. So goodbye Green Party.

Anyone up for joining a political party centred on protecting the environment and animal welfare?

zzizz · 30/12/2020 16:33

Seriously, can you imagine an actual female politician (or wannabe politician) daring to say anything like this? She would be ridiculed off the Internet and assumed incapable of her job.

EdgeOfACoin · 30/12/2020 16:36

Can you imagine Theresa May or Nicola Sturgeon posing and tweeting about pretty fingernails? Or Priti Patel, Liz Truss or Yvette Cooper? Or even Caroline Lucas or Diane Abbott?

Fae is utterly, utterly clueless.

JohnMcClane · 30/12/2020 16:37

Trying to imagine Kamala Harris tweeting about her manicures and irrational crying..... hmm, no, wouldn't happen.

MichelleofzeResistance · 30/12/2020 16:37

That's lovely you're having a lovely time crying Kathryn.

Now about the totally fucked environment, the 1000 deaths a day, the massive issues faced by people whose jobs and businesses are going under, the teachers facing classes full of infected kids, the people torn between sending kids to school and working....?

And being a bit less massively and offensively sexist while you're working would be nice too.

JohnMcClane · 30/12/2020 16:38

Cross post @EdgeOfACoin

Can't imagine any of those women doing it either.

MichelleofzeResistance · 30/12/2020 16:43

Decades of women fighting to be taken seriously in public roles, convincing the world that they were more than hair, nails, emotions and those stupid limiting stereotypes, and that women can be public figures and do as good a job if not better.

And then male people get those public roles and use them not to demonstrate how good they are at the role, or to do anything for the image of the group they come from, but to have a public stance from which to demonstrate stereotypes that reduce women.

Winesalot · 30/12/2020 16:44

RufustheSniggeringReindeer

Same here. Although I still use ladies in a positive sense and now I also use female. all.the.time. Because it is very clear language and defines who I am talking about when it is important to be very clear.
