@Quaagars

The literature is here:

The Bidens have publicly endorsed McBride when running for office, and the policies McBride has espoused through their work with the HRC. They have called McBride a “daughter” to the family and helped secured McBride a slot as a speaker at the Dem National Convention in 2016, despite McBride’s lack of qualifications beyond their appointment to an advocacy group.

At this point, if you are still curious, I suggest doing your own independent research.

@CaraDuneRedux

Thin the Forensic Medicine Bill Scotland is utterly evil. I agree. (As is the "criminalise dissent even within the privacy of people's own homes" bill - shades of the East German Stasi).

But Scotland, as far as I know, is not planning on removing women's right to abortion. So one can oppose the FMB without throwing one's lot in with mad anti-abortionist, forced-birther types. And the election we're discussing did not take place in Scotland.

Sadly, that choice was not available to American women voters. Their choice was stark: screw over some women (sportswomen, women in prison, women in need of refuges) or screw over all women of reproductive age or younger.

What seems lost here is this issue is not a binary between abortion and “sports”. This is about the redefinition of sex-based rights. It’s been said already in this thread but let’s be clear: there will be no right to reproductive choice if there is no defined legal category of those who would need that option.

Thank you FrankieSezRelax, what I like about FWR is that people almost always back up their statements when asked.
It means you never have to blindly trust any old bald assertion.

NonnyMouse1337 · 08/11/2020 18:16

If American women can mobilise quickly and say to Biden, you got our vote this time, but you won't fool me twice and I will not vote for you in 2022

Surely women in America will be in the same position they are in now - either to vote Democrat or risk having the Republicans roll back abortion rights. Why should Biden or any other Democrat listen to the voices of women who they consider to be on par with the extreme Christian right?

I usually find the exact opposite when you ask anything, so thank you FrankieSezRelax will have a look

I agree wholeheartedly with this. As a lurker for years before posting, I was always impressed with the evidence posted by the women on here. Unlike the posters with the opposing view.
PronounssheRa · 08/11/2020 18:25

I want to be thrilled that Kamala will be VP, but I'm struggling.

I think the Biden presidency will be bad for women's rights. Kamala has also previously said she believed a woman who accused biden of inappropriate touching/behaviour, yet was still happy to be his running mate.

Time will tell if she is happy to throw women under a bus for her own ambitions.

It was an awful choice either way.

HecatesCats · 08/11/2020 18:32

Thin I'm of the opinion that Trump is utterly untrustworthy and could have done huge damage to American democracy with another four year term. I think he posed huge threat to the future stability of the US (and other countries in its orbit) and was hellbent on stirring up anger and dissent in order to keep hold of power. Amy Coney Barrett’s appointment to the US Supreme Court doesn’t just threaten abortion rights - given that she has voted again and again to uphold restrictions on abortions and signed an advertisement describing the legacy of Roe v. Wade as “barbaric” - but also threatens the long term future of the Affordable Care Act, which many Republicans want to dismantle and which also requires healthcare plans to cover contraception. I’m hugely worried about Biden/Harris and I share your fears about how women’s sex based rights, I’m outraged by it, but I hold out some hope that as BlueCat points out they’ll have their hands tied because of the make up of the Senate. I also believe that the more high profile the issue becomes - as more male born athletes succeed, more transwomen take political and other high profile platforms from women, as more women are subject to the realities of sharing previously female spaces, it will be a policy that becomes harder and harder to defend. But American women do need to find a collective voice on this and soon. I don’t envy them. Rock and a hard place is absolutely right, it’s a devastating state of affairs that women have to suffer in the meantime.

ThinEndOfTheWedge · 08/11/2020 18:34

Their choice was stark: screw over some women (sportswomen, women in prison, women in need of refuges) or screw over all women of reproductive age or younger.

These some women are all women. They are all of our mothers, sisters, daughters.

If we abandon the womanhood of these women - particularly the most vulnerable among us- for a supposed greater cause, we abandon all of our womanhood.

Abandon womanhood - women’s reproductive rights will be removed - irrespective of who you vote for.

McBride is the former spokesperson for the Human Rights Campaign, the group who redefined vaginas as the genitalia of trans women and “front holes” as the genitalia of females

Utterly repugnant. There is no way reproductive rights are safe with politicians like this - reproduction is what sets woman apart from men. It must be blurred and then once blurred, reproductive rights can no longer exist.

Awning10 · 08/11/2020 18:43

From the sex guide:

DICK: We use this word to describe external genitals. Dicks come
in all shapes and sizes and can belong to people of all genders.

FRONT HOLE: We use this word to talk about internal genitals,
sometimes referred to as a vagina. A front hole may self-lubricate,
depending on age and hormones.

STRAPLESS: We use this word to describe the genitals of trans
women who have not had genital reconstruction (or “bottom
surgery”), sometimes referred to as a penis.

VAGINA: We use this word to talk about the genitals of trans
women who have had bottom surgery.

Those sex guide definitions are vile. What's with 'strapless' though? Its closer to strap on no? Its not without straps?

I just can't even fathom the logic behind that but I don't know why I'm bothering as the whole thing is without logic.

Thankfully this sort of thing won't be in schools in the U.K. anymore, not that the HRC ever was, but putting nonsense like this under the guise of human rights is exactly what we are looking at here and Harris and Biden sound like fully paid up members, though I'd be happy to be proven wrong.

ThinEndOfTheWedge · 08/11/2020 19:28

HecatesCats

I know very little of the Affordable Care Act or the Senate (on which I hope you are right), I agree with the rest - however women’s rights needs to be made high profile ASAP - otherwise we will need to campaign to change existing laws, not to prevent the introduction of new laws, which can be more difficult.

Instead on focusing on which of T or B/H poses the greatest threat to women - the focus should be that both are a threat and to mobilise an opposition to protect women’s rights ASAP. The focus has to begin with US woman (and most US men) - realising that the ‘Not Trump’ president/VP is not the safe option for women as presented and that consequences of their equality policies will be very regressive for women.

ThinEndOfTheWedge · 08/11/2020 19:33

I maybe a strange example of vagina owning person, but just to announce, my vagina isn’t my front hole.

Anyone else with this same problem...???

I’m off to use my urethra actual front hole...

CaraDuneRedux · 08/11/2020 19:35

The organ formerly known as "penis" now rebranded to make it sound like a variation on a strap on dildo because apparently that makes its use in sex more convincingly "lesbian."

Aesopfable · 08/11/2020 19:44

Women's uethra are irrelevant to men and there for don't exist.

PronounssheRa · 08/11/2020 19:44

It's either a complete lack of knowledge of female biology or the only holes that register with people who write this kind of shite, are holes that can be penetrated.

Take your pick.

PRICKS: We use this word to describe the members of the Human Rights Campaign who talk about women like they aren't human. See also CUNTS.

Aesopfable · 08/11/2020 19:56

PronounsheRa well they do think the clitoris is just a small penis so perhaps they think the urethra is attached to that?

HecatesCats · 08/11/2020 19:59

Kit19 · 08/11/2020 20:21

I assume VP Harris would be more than happy to be referred to as the first cervix haver or the first menstruator to become Vice President?

Strangely though I’m certain VP Harris only ever refers to herself as a woman

Kit19 · 08/11/2020 20:22

She knows what a women is when it suits her to know

Ah I geddit!

The strap on that doesn't need to be strapped on, so attached but not how a penis is as that would make it male.

Also strapless has a slight feminine connotation as it strapless dress or top.

Yeah, it's still nonsense.

Floisme · 08/11/2020 20:44

I don't like sounding this negative but surely the time to mobilise and organise was when they needed the votes?
