Joe Biden issues new statement on the transgender debate

In a Q&A he said he'll reverse all 'anti trans' executive orders if he becomes president. He revealed again that he doesn't really know anything about the trans debate but implied he will still give campaigners everything they want twitter.com/DailyCaller/status/1316913590620852224?s=20

Link won’t work for me.

OhHolyJesus · 16/10/2020 07:42

I'm not surprised.

I bet he couldn't list the 'anti-trans' EO though, I hope the women are organising just in case, although I'm expecting Trump to win again.

Gurufloof · 16/10/2020 07:44

The replies are mostly heartening. A lot say wtf, a lot more say well as an 8 year old girl I wanted to be a boy thank God my mother didnt reach for the testosterone.

In Biden's answer he stated that 17 twoc had been killed this year. No mention though of how many women had been killed this year. Odd that

highame · 16/10/2020 07:45

Implying something is not agreeing, it is implying, it's called political strategy.

Gurufloof · 16/10/2020 07:54

A woman called Dawn Wilcox counts murdered women in the USA. Up to 50 a day are killed.
The last stats the FBI have are 2017. But between 1600 and 2300 women a year are killed in the USA. Seems like they might want to do something about that.

Collidascope · 16/10/2020 08:01

No surprise. Joe Biden is hardly renowned for respecting women's boundaries, is he?

Iamhangingin · 16/10/2020 08:03

50 women a day are murdered in the USA? That seems like such an extreme number and incredibly sad.

BovaryX · 16/10/2020 08:07

that he doesn't really know anything about the trans debate

Joe Biden doesn't know anything about Critical race theory either, despite his enthusiasm for its implementation. His position on trans is unsurprising. He is the woke candidate with zero ability nor inclination to resist its dictates.

HelloToMyKitty · 16/10/2020 08:11

There’s institutional capture in the Democratic party. They’ll never critically think about trans issues because it’s under the LGBT advocacy umbrella.

I hardly think Joe has a nuanced grasp of these issues.

ThinEndOfTheWedge · 16/10/2020 08:15

American women are damned which ever way they vote - even though woke ones - though they don’t know it yet.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 16/10/2020 08:18

It's amazing to me that in a country the size of America, the two 'best' candidates they could rustle up are Trump and Biden!
Why didn't the Democrats learn, after the Hillary Clinton fiasco, that they have to offer something better?

LizzieSiddal · 16/10/2020 08:23

I wonder if he’s “just” talking about the ban on Trans people in the military/ discrimination at work etc. I’m with him on that. I suppose we will have to wait and see.

WaxOnFeckOff · 16/10/2020 08:24

Trump is bad but Biden is no better. He's also a proven liar, has dodgy sexual history and has dementia.

HelloToMyKitty · 16/10/2020 08:30

There were some excellent candidates in the primary. Whose fault is that registered Dems voted for Biden?

BovaryX · 16/10/2020 08:31

Why didn't the Democrats learn, after the Hillary Clinton fiasco

If you look at events on US campuses circa 2017, the answer is there with all the 'great untruths' Haidt discusses on explicit display. Dichotomous thinking. Common enemy tactics used to silence speakers. Speech is 'literal violence' but physical violence is permitted and encouraged. A contempt for freedom of speech, rational debate, respect for a diversity of views. The Democrats have not learned from the Hillary debacle. Witness the NYT sacking an editor for printing an op ed by Tom Cotton. They have doubled down on the 'basket of deplorables' stunt. Whatever the result in November, Americans deserve much better than this.

Aesopfable · 16/10/2020 08:33

You look at Trump and you would think anyone who stood against him should win.... and then you look at Biden.

Oliversmumsarmy · 16/10/2020 08:38

I do fear for America when you look at what each candidate stands for and Trump looks like the better candidate

BlueCatRedCat · 16/10/2020 08:53

Yes.

I am strongly convinced Trump will win again. The Republicans will have already captured the Supreme Court before the election. So goodbye abortion, Affordable Care Act, and hello Gilead. The Democrats have only themselves to blame.

Trump makes my skin crawl every time I see him but you're right - he does look like the better candidate - what a terrible state of affairs.

And once again, the partisan nature of tech on prominent display....

I think it's astonishing. Something very rotten in the heart of America.
nauticant · 16/10/2020 09:10

50 women a day are murdered in the USA?

As the post by Gurufloof indicates, that's misleading because it would suggest a number of nearly 20,000 women murdered per year. The actual number is much lower than that, maybe several thousand. That's still a tragedy but it's good to have reliable numbers in mind.

Suffrajester · 16/10/2020 09:11

This is a politician who said that TRA is this generation's civil rights struggle. As if the actual civil rights movement were over and there weren't huge protests against police brutality and racism in the USA. Veterans of the civil rights movement back in the '60s have said as much, and disavowed TRAs, they weren't happy with the comparison at all.

MorrisZapp · 16/10/2020 09:13

Surely saying Trump is the better candidate is hyperbole? You wouldn't actually vote for him in reality would you?

I'm not remotely surprised that Biden can't speak openly on trans issues. I don't see any political heavyweight in any democratic country standing up for women's sex based rights. Rosie Duffield has been threatened with death for liking a tweet that said women have cervixes and her fellow mps daren't give her any public support.

This is where we are. Full rainbow capture. Same in Scotland. It's the issue I've engaged most with in my entire life but vote for Trump?? What is this insanity?

RadicalFern · 16/10/2020 09:13

The Democrat party had some excellent candidates at the early stage of their selection process. I was particularly partial to Tulsi Gabbard myself, but cynically I think she has too much personal integrity to go far in politics. Even though she could have wiped the floor with most competitors, she might not reliably toe the party line. So Joe became candidate and I can't see how he'll win because 1. He's not an inspiring man, and 2. Last week he seemed to think he was running for the Senate.
