From elsewhere:
If this rapid pace continues through the year, 2020 will set a record for violence against the transgender community. At least 27 trans and gender-nonconforming folks were killed in all of 2019, according to the Human Rights Campaign.
If the total ends up double last year's that would be about 50.
The number of women killed per year in the US is about 2.5 per 100,000. (That's not an easy figure to track down.)
The US population is 330,000,000 of whom it's said 0.6% are trans so that would be about 2 million trans people in the US.
Therefore if 50 trans people were to be killed this year, the per 100,000 figure for trans people would be 2.5. That corresponds with the rate for women.
The problem for trans people in the US is that those killed are disproportionality in marginalised communites, for example people of colour or sex workers.
"Epidemiological studies based on United States data suggest that the likelihood of active female sex workers being victimized in a homicide is almost 18 times higher than that of women of similar age and race who do not engage in sex work." - Brewer, D. D. et al., “Extent, trends, and perpetrators of prostitution-related homicide in the United States”, Journal of Forensic Sciences, vol. 51, No. 5 (September 2006), pp. 1101–1108.
That's for female prostitutes. I'd imagine for transwomen prostitutes the rate would be even higher.
