Green Party Women has been doing a grand job championing women in the party, knowing that #sexmatters and providing great resources to support and encourage women to participate in politics.

Today the current committee is up for election and under threat of a take-over by a group that's single concern appears to be self-ID for transwomen - although trans folks have their own voice within the party in LGBTIQA+ Greens. They want the women's group too!

PLEASE REGISTER TO VOTE BY 13.30 TODAY. You need to be:

I've just seen that i missed the deadline to vote! Ffs!

ChoosandChipsandSealingWax · 18/12/2020 13:57

No I think it’s 23rd??

SkyRita · 18/12/2020 16:09

@ChoosandChipsandSealingWax
If you are wishing to vote for one or two selected names, vote only for those and on the next line, vote for RON (Re-Open Nominations) which will prevent the others being given any votes.

Please share this information with any women you know who are GPEW members and have received the voting email. If they haven't received the email it will mean that they haven't registered with Green Party Women. Please share it with friends who may know any GPEW members too, in order that the information reaches as many Greens as possible.

Voted. Here's to sense & science making a come back in the Green party!

FestiveGreenery · 23/12/2020 20:06

Voted but not very optimistic. Is there a fallback plan?

When's the next election?

OneEpisode · 23/12/2020 20:28

Deadline 11:59pm today!

GreenieFingers · 23/12/2020 20:57

Yes, deadline is 11.59 tonight but please vote earlier in case of any tech problems etc.
I have no idea about a fallback plan @Festive Greenery as I'm not on the committee, but I do wonder if we could set up a sex-based women's group.

NeurotreeWenceslas · 23/12/2020 21:31

Done, thanks for the reminder!

So much easier than last time.

MindTheMinotaur · 23/12/2020 22:46

Oh, someone was watching in here even early hours of Christmas day, what a surprise!

Catmaiden · 25/12/2020 17:37

Apologies, apparently I breached one of the rules and didn't see the email from MNHQ until just now.

Won't use that "offensive or hurtful phrase" , again.

OneEpisode · 25/12/2020 19:47

I’m assuming younger people without children and not in relationships have more time to vote in the run up to 23 December, and to report posts made late Christmas Eve/early Christmas Day.

FreshFreesias · 25/12/2020 20:04

Does the Green Party actually do anything er, green, anymore?

Would be great if they campaigned to end live animal export (now finally ending as we’ve left the EU, hurrah), or plant trees or campaign against ecocide that is HS2.

The last GP member I met was a vivisectionist who kept trying to explain why experimenting on animals was a great thing. Another was threatened when he said he wanted to ban non stun slaughter and improve conditions in slaughter houses.

When I was a member 20 years ago we were all feminists and animal rights activists and campaigned against vivisection.

What happened?

OneEpisode · 25/12/2020 20:15

The environment is hard and outside? Being intersectional is more compatible with staying indoors?

TinaBarrow · 25/12/2020 20:39

Fuck me, what the hell has become of the Green Party?

Have to say I came v close to not managing it.

NeurotreeWenceslas · 25/12/2020 21:07

Also, "note the head tilt" as Glinner likes to say.

DieHardIsAXmasMovie · 25/12/2020 21:49

What has happened? Xmas Confused

OneEpisode · 25/12/2020 22:04

The deleted post suggested that of the 4 co chair candidates one had won, nothing on the web I can see.
