Seconded Sammy Flowers and Flowersto posters on this thread

DarkmilkAddict · 28/09/2020 21:33

I’m so glad I shared my story on here, it’s been very cathartic and also I hope has given the child/teenager’s perspective.

I don’t know if I’m feeling strong enough to start an adults-only campaign for naturism in general but I would strongly support it.

Thanks everyone for your kindness, it’s helped me change how I feel about my experiences. Not quite the classic Good Will Hunting “it’s not your fault” as I knew I didn’t cause it, but I now don’t think I was oversensitive or uptight for not being 100% cool with it.

Am off to namechange now!

Dark I’m sorry you experienced this too, but has helped knowing it wasn’t just me, that my feelings were valid, it has got me wondering how any more of us are out there, have been thinking about a support group but for now it’s not for me, I have my DC, young teenagers to think about, I’ve been distracted enough this weekend working through this. @Handsoffisback you have helped more than you know, you were spot on with everything you posted 💐

Wildswim · 28/09/2020 22:27

Good result. I am so glad this event has been cancelled and that future events will be restricted to over 18s.

Reading the article and seeing the pictures of the slides and pools and thinking of innocent little children being told they could go on the slides etc - but only if they took all their clothes off and were naked - made me feel sick.

littlbrowndog · 28/09/2020 22:36

Dark. I don’t know if this will help but as a teenager to have to get my kit off an wander about in front of anybody would. Have hurt my soul.

And my parents would have thought this ok would have fucked my soul

No no no

You were right. I wish you peace and some gin 💪

Why would anyone want to risk their children in this way? Nudism for consenting adults only. Children have no power to properly say no whatever discomfort they may feel. Relieved event is cancelled agree a campaign should be set up. Thank you Dark for speaking up for children.

I just wanted to add a link to the Naked Yoga and Cuddle Parties thread as sone of the issues in it re grooming, child protection and safeguarding of vulnerable adults are relvant to this thread

hoodathunkit · 29/09/2020 07:51

Handsoffisback thanks for your steriling work on this thread and thanks also to Sammy Woodhouse for raising the issue

Hopefully this thread will bring about some much needed change

IME it is not just children but vulnerable adults who can be at risk from some naturist activities.

I believe that consenting adults should be able to enjoy skinny dippping and naturist beaches, however this is a privilege and not an entitlement. The protection of vulnerable people, whether children or adults, has to be at the front of our minds in all decision making and legislation.

That Quillette article says it all really, someone on the thread discussing the article mentioned "exhibitionism for the male gaze".

I have some questions about British Naturism, maybe some of the naturists here can answer.

On the BN website, the application form asks a 'yes / no' question about whether you're on the sex offenders register and that applicants need to consent to BN carrying out "manual checks". How does BN go about these checks, and who is auditing BN to make sure they carry out those checks? Surely members ask about this (regularly) and can see some proof this is happening?

I see BN offers online sessions for nude yoga and online nude family sessions (but only for parents with children under 18). Is there a crossover with 'online nude family' sessions and distributing indecent images of children? How does the law separate that? How do you ensure you aren't inadvertently breaking the law?

Maybe they are 'audio' and not video/streaming. Hope so!

@Handsoffisback

I can only imagine that having images of children naked online would cross over into breaking the law. I am going to find out for sure. Just when we thought it couldn’t get worse!
What law do you think would be broken?

An image of a naked child is not illegal unless it is classed as indecent.

@Handsoffisback

lockheart I have no idea hence why I asked the questions. Funnily enough I’ve never needed to familiarise myself with laws around posting pictures of my naked children on the internet 🧐
All UK legislation is freely available on the gov.uk website.

But what do you think would (or should) be illegal about a non-indecent image of a naked child?

FloraFox · 29/09/2020 19:32

Lockheart perhaps you can say in what circumstances you think it is okay to have images of naked children circulated for other people to see. How would you characterise a non-indecent image of a naked child in the context of something being made available on the internet?
