Irish women, have you seen this?

The HSE removed the word "woman" from their CERVICAL screening pages Angry
I stumbled across this tweet
twitter.com/Salwicklow/status/1305967737563422720?s=20

politely asking them to put woman back in, alongside trans men and trans women, who both get their own special mentions, but they have brushed off the woman who made the original request and are no longer replying.

Here's the HSE pages
www2.hse.ie/screening-and-vaccinations/cervical-screening/when-you-should-have-cervical-screening/who-should-have-cervical-screening.html

And here's Aoife Martin - no cervix skin in the game Hmm inviting followers to mock women for wanting the 99.9% of people who need cervical screening to be named as such by a health service that already has some serious catching up to do before women can believe it has their best interests at heart.

Earl, you can leave anonymous feedback on the hse website. If you go to the cervical screening page, there's a feedback tab and a form pops up. I put all my comments in the free text box at the bottom.

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 19/09/2020 19:53

I think Róisín is onside butt keeping quiet. She hasn't said a thing that I've seen. She was very public about her abortion experience during repeal and she had an excellent piece on periods in the IT about 6 weeks ago. She knows biology.

Annasgirl · 19/09/2020 21:04

Yes @MotherForkinShirtBalls but there were many women involved in Repeal for many years who jumped straight into the trans rights movement- amazing how quickly they forgot biology

Off topic

Interesting article in journal.ie today.

Annasgirl · 20/09/2020 09:30

And depressing comments section which proves Laura’s point. Although @Cupoftea1234, you will see from Laura’s interview on here last week that she is fully on board with the TRA point of view.

irishfeminist · 20/09/2020 09:32

Oh the irony and not off-topic at all. The NWCI has TENI on their board, they linked to a ridiculous ignorant piece on JK Rowling on their Facebook page, they have given a platform to misogynistic males who make violent threats to women under the trans umbrella. They have never once engaged with the violence and misogyny of the TRA movement. They have no credibility whatsoever.

Cupoftea1234 · 20/09/2020 09:45

Thanks Annasgirl. I hadn't seen that interview.

Yes, I think this is what is so depressing. But I think more and more women are having their eyes opened.
irishfeminist · 20/09/2020 10:11

Yes I think so. I've had a couple of people I know mention the Joe Duffy episode and say "I remember now, you've been going on about this for a while but now I get it!"

EarlofEggMcMuffin · 20/09/2020 10:17

PMK

Cupoftea1234 · 20/09/2020 10:43

That's great to hear The thing is that a year ago if I heard that about the TW on the MWCI I would have thought how nice that was. Now it bloody well pisses me off.

Cupoftea1234 · 20/09/2020 10:50

*NWCI

irishfeminist · 20/09/2020 10:57

NWCI organise Femfest for girls/young women aged between 16 and 22 - they have had trans people (I'll be deleted if I say what I want to say but let's say they are not biologically female) every year now. Last year's event featured someone (scroll down to the last paragraph) who stated publicly that "T**Fs .....should be smashed and terrified" and launched a campaign of harassment against a woman who spoke out against this violent language. This was all reported to the NWCI but no response. Let's keep it in people's memories.

Oh and a drag act. Because nothing says "feminist" like a drag act.

OnlyWomenAreWomen · 20/09/2020 11:14

Thanks. Letters in the Irish Times about this at the moment. Also was the main topic on RTE radio Liveline on 17/09. TENI were on the show lying about their stance. The “have your say” HSE link is useful. Please everyone use it!

OnlyWomenAreWomen · 20/09/2020 11:20

Ireland will be congratulating itself on how progressive it is now that Britain has stopped self ID. Fact is more people are actually thinking in the UK. Ireland is simply playing out its centuries old misogyny under the thin veil of wokeness. It’s all about the men. No change here.

Womanface 😡
OnlyWomenAreWomen · 20/09/2020 11:26

At the end of the stand.ie article

“Next time you’re at a meeting, or an event, look around the room to see who’s there, and see who isn’t.”

Yup. 🤩

Apologies. Hadn’t read through the thread before I posted this. Just joined the site and jumped straight in prematurely 😁😱
OnlyWomenAreWomen · 20/09/2020 11:51

@Oncewasblueandlangtoo

Just missed this, does anyone know if there will be a replay? I'm going to write to the HSE too.

Noticed AM saying in that twitter thread, when someone said that man is still being used on the prostate HSE pg, that the incidence of prostate is low in tw, more research needed but the language needs to be updated too.

It is just so obvious that all of this, is just about changing womens language.

You can listen back on rye player.
EarlofEggMcMuffin · 20/09/2020 11:54

Why does that stand.ie article annoy me?

There's very little there that I disagree with, but there's something about the overall tone that irks me, and I cant articulate it.

"Aovca Reaction" drag performance...hmm.
"look around and see who's not here"....hmm
No women over 25....hmmm

OnlyWomenAreWomen · 20/09/2020 11:54

@GrainneMhaol

Kitty Holland has posted nonsense about "terfs" in the recent past.
KItty Holland is at the forefront of wokeness in Ireland. Whoever thought someone so anodyne could in the end wield such influence.
OnlyWomenAreWomen · 20/09/2020 11:58

Goldhawk for president.

3timeslucky · 20/09/2020 12:03

Contacting the HSE is on my to-do list for the week. I know I've delayed doing it because of the sense of inevitability as to how they'll reply (and that's before I saw the screenshots of the stock reply I can expect). I am so worn-down by this shit.

Who could ever have predicted that for a woman to state "I am a woman" would become a radical act?
