The HSE removed the word "woman" from their CERVICAL screening pages Angry
I stumbled across this tweet
twitter.com/Salwicklow/status/1305967737563422720?s=20

politely asking them to put woman back in, alongside trans men and trans women, who both get their own special mentions, but they have brushed off the woman who made the original request and are no longer replying.

Here's the HSE pages
www2.hse.ie/screening-and-vaccinations/cervical-screening/when-you-should-have-cervical-screening/who-should-have-cervical-screening.html

And here's Aoife Martin - no cervix skin in the game Hmm inviting followers to mock women for wanting the 99.9% of people who need cervical screening to be named as such by a health service that already has some serious catching up to do before women can believe it has their best interests at heart.

Amy on the back foot now, sounding defensive.

Unaware of privilege that she knows what a cervix is?

Well done Sarah 👏 👏👏

Jellyeggs · 17/09/2020 14:13

Oh brilliant! Is this guy speaking for trans people?

Annasgirl · 17/09/2020 14:14

Although why does a man get to decide that it is OK to include the word women????????

Annasgirl · 17/09/2020 14:15

Oh Amy - clueless

SecondRow · 17/09/2020 14:15

Indeed, NOW that Gordon has spoken, the HSE can recant...

I don’t care if he’s a man or a woman if he is a trans voice of reason.

Cupoftea1234 · 17/09/2020 14:16

Yes. Amy thinks we should listen to those most affected. Guess who she thinks is most affected by cervical csncdtConfused

ludog · 17/09/2020 14:18

Well done both Sarah's!

ludog · 17/09/2020 14:19

Gah, autocorrect stuck in an unnecessary apostrophe Confused

Cupoftea1234 · 17/09/2020 14:19

Amy using cis woman to describe herself as she justifies the erasing of women. Great to hear the views of the spokesperson for the trans community. I hope the HSE back track now. Both Sarah's were excellent. Star

SecondRow · 17/09/2020 14:19

Well done to both Sarahs!

I was only in time for the last five minutes but very happy with what I heard. Thank you for sounding so sensible and reasoned. “Women and people with a cervix” is good with me.

SecondRow · 17/09/2020 14:30

I wonder if Joe and producers knew what Gordon was going to say, and let Amy have her say first...

Just missed this, does anyone know if there will be a replay?
I'm going to write to the HSE too.

Noticed AM saying in that twitter thread, when someone said that man is still being used on the prostate HSE pg, that the incidence of prostate is low in tw, more research needed but the language needs to be updated too.

It is just so obvious that all of this, is just about changing womens language.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 17/09/2020 14:35

I'm not sure why the HSE needed to add additional stuff for trans men....surely trans men would come under the heading of "anyone with a cervix"? Surely they would know if they have a cervix or not ffs.

ludog · 17/09/2020 14:35

It should be available on radio player by this evening. It's the first item on the show

Eloisedublin123 · 17/09/2020 14:35

Well done!

hadtojoin · 17/09/2020 14:41

This is the thin end of the wedge. Next they will be replacing the word People with Human Beings.

hadtojoin · 17/09/2020 14:42

Just so the animals aren't confused.

Annasgirl · 17/09/2020 14:46

@Cupoftea1234

Yes. Amy thinks we should listen to those most affected. Guess who she thinks is most affected by cervical csncdtConfused
Yes - hence me saying clueless
SecondRow · 17/09/2020 14:52

Doctor rings in to make a woke point - but talks herself into saying she doesn't "necessarily" have a problem with "Woman" being added back in either!

OP posts:
SecondRow · 17/09/2020 14:58

And a woman with no cervix asks the "well, what does that make me then" question. she is in favour of leaving the word woman in.

Cupoftea1234 · 17/09/2020 14:59

Well, she had her arze handed ack to her on that interview. Both Sarah's had their research done. Grin

Cupoftea1234 · 17/09/2020 15:02

My phone has a mind of its own.
