Single sex spaces

I'm genuinely curious about what the defenders of women only spaces feel about men doing the same sort of thing.

Clearly there are some reasons why this might be asymmetrical; men are likely to have far fewer reasons for feeling physically safer in a single sex environment, for example. But if a group of men want to create an all male space because they feel happier there (for whatever reason), does it do any more harm than an exclusive female only space?

Alternatively, is it fundamentally unhealthy to operate sex exclusive spaces at all unless there is a really good reason for doing so?

Urgh...heard it all now.

Did someone actually just do that thing we probably aren't allowed to mention but we just had our own definition of what we are spl** to us

Good god the entitlement is incredible.

We say no.
Woman and female are s ours

I don't know where this obsession with males entering women's facilities comes from.

I know. Weird, isn't it? They should just stay out, no matter how obsessed they are with coming in women's facilities.

DeliciouslyFemale · 10/09/2020 07:49

My courgettes didn’t do well this year. Unfortunately the plants assigned female at blooming on the basis of observed growth characteristics weren’t fertilised due to a shortage of insects in that area of the garden. I’m new to gardening and didn’t realise I could have helped by taking the flower off the plant assigned male at blooming on the basis of observed growth characteristics and putting it inside the flowers assigned female at blooming on the basis of observed growth characteristics. It’s amazing that you can actually see the difference in sex between the two plants.

Slugs destroyed my courgette plants this year.

Bastards.

That happened to my cucumber plant. The one night I skipped slug and snail collecting and went out the next day to discover they had destroyed all six cucumbers. The speed at which they eat and moved really took me by surprise.

Slugs are ugly, slimy bastards.

They're always getting into my boyfriend's hostas.

I have an infestation of greenfly in my basil plants...

DancelikeEmmaGoldman · 10/09/2020 08:13

Here is an actual large, human gamete in the process of leaving an ovary. A thing that only women experience, (and some of you might have flinched a little because you know the process can hurt).

Amazing, fascinating, female biology in action.

Wow. Thats incredible.

As is the fact we carry our own grand children inside us if we have a baby girl.
@RedDogsBeg

I still maintain that trans women are women (and female), hence the term "trans women".

I should, perhaps have said "a changing room where non trans women are undressed"

Hope that tidies things up for you.
It tidies it up in as much as it proves to me without any doubt my suspicions of you and your agenda.

Notable how you chose to put 51% of the population into a category with a negative in front of the description elevating the non negative category above it as the default.

Your motives and agenda are totally transparent despite your simpering that you "just want to pee/just want to live your life as your authentic self", you want to, and are actively trying to, deny 51% of the right to live their lives in safety and with dignity.

DeliciouslyFemale · 10/09/2020 08:23

It seems no matter how hard you try to protect the plants assigned female at blooming on the basis of observed growth characteristics that then grow to produce adult fruits/veg assigned female at blooming on the basis of observed growth characteristics, the pests will mange to damage them. I watched a video on YouTube once, showing a giant slug taking bites out of one cucumber which is obviously assigned female at blooming on the basis of observed growth characteristics, as are all cucumbers and courgettes, before moving onto another. It’s depressing how many fruits/veg one invertebrate can damage in one visit.

On the plus side, I got an absolute glut of sugar snap peas. I covered them in netting, which makes to protect them, so far, from the dreaded list of flying pests. I grew onions alongside the carrots, so I hope that the smell will manage to protect them from the horrible carrot fly.

They might have done you a favour, apparently home grown courgettes have been responsible for a spate of serious food poisoning incidents this year!

MichelleofzeResistance · 10/09/2020 08:49

Thank you for explaining how you term female people within in your belief system, Renata . I find it difficult to balance the appeals you make to female people for their respect and understanding with the overt lack of reciprocal respect the terminology and responses you're using are showing to females.

I respect that you believe this, and I respect people's right to hold their own beliefs and faiths. However those of a belief system need to equally respect and understand that others may not share in it and will not wish to participate in or act upon beliefs that they do not hold.

@ArabellaScott

The thing about separte closed cubicles & mixed sex spaces is that I would miss the single sex spaces. It's not just about being able to hide there for safety, privacy, dignity. It's also been a place where women hang out, have a laugh and shared experiences. I dont see why women have to lose that.
This!

And as NiceGerbil said men will shove women in floor to ceiling cubicles and lock the door, it will happen.

And children will get locked in and stuck.

And as has also been mentioned if someone collapses or slips and knocks herself out how will anyone know.

And what of those who suffer claustrophobia and cannot be in enclosed spaces with locked doors. Even fairly common in children, I have known plenty who would want the door open when using the loo or changing.

And not forgetting those who need assistance, cubicles are rarely large enough for that.

However why are we once again defending our rights to be undressed in a place of privacy, dignity and safety while men protect their “rights” to political and economic power which excludes women?

PearPickingPorky · 10/09/2020 10:07

Because girls are born with all their eggs already created inside them.

Those eggs in a newborn baby girl were grown using the body of the mother during gestation.

So the mother grows her daughter, and all the eggs within her daughter, some of which will become her grandchildren.

It's amazing.

It's because girl babies are born with all their eggs. So if one of those eggs turns out be you, you were in your grandma's womb.

But, but Datun & Pear, according to Milady none of that matters, it's irrelevant because, because um feelingsConfused.
