Sometimes I wish I could live in that parallel universe and just say ‘it doesn’t matter’, ‘let’s just let it all unfold and let the kids have their ops and give them the drugs and go on parades and celebrate the courage of dressing a certain way, and speaking a certain way. ‘Live and let live’. It requires effort to keep fighting for women’s rights, to do the necessary thinking to ensure that decisions made don’t just suit you but also don’t effect other people detrimentally. It would be so fucking easy to step away from this issue, cross your fingers that nothing bad happens to your Mum or your sister or your daughter or your niece. So much easier. And you wouldn’t be hated. You’d just get constant validation that you are a nice, kind woman. Passivity. That lovely ‘feminine’ trait. Let’s just all get in the kitchen, bake some cakes, have a coffee morning, indulge ourselves and stop fucking caring about things like politics and sex discrimination and misogyny eh?

Sexnotgender · 30/08/2020 16:34

Women these days are fighting to remove equality.

Absolute nonsense 😂

Kit19 · 30/08/2020 16:37

Why the fuck should women give up their right to female only spaces?

OP posts:
yourhairiswinterfire · 30/08/2020 16:38

Men should stop raping for sure, but stopping transwomen from using women's toilets won't stop that and may even mean more rapes as for some transwomen if they use men only toilets.

If we have to accept that men can become women, we have to accept that ANY man who says he is a woman, is a woman. No questioning allowed. Men have, and will continue to, abuse this. You turn women's toilets/changing rooms into a free for all, then the transwomen aren't going to be safe in there either.

Words matter. Transwomen are transwomen.

Transwomen are part of the male sex class. It's up to men to sort their house out and be more accepting of this, not women. We're not their human shields.

SweetEspresso · 30/08/2020 16:41

@Kit19

To tell me which Male sports teams trans men are competing in
I don't know why you wouldn't think any were. Here's some www.pinknews.co.uk/2019/04/04/transgender-athletes-why-fair-compete/

They don't. They share them with women accidentally born into men's bodies.

How does that work then?

Transwomen are transitioning. In the meantime you want to force them to either using men only spaces and since you worry men will rape will put them into the danger you think you are in, or stay home never to venture out again.

If a man wants to rape he will do so, letting transwomen use our toilets where they will be safer won't make it less safe for us.

Kit19 · 30/08/2020 16:45

Even though it was prick news I read it - So one TM playing team sport & they still play on the women’s team

All the other TM compete in individual sports

So no

Women fought for their rights for equality. Women these days are fighting to remove equality

Yes women like Jo Swinson, Lisa Nandy, Niccola Sturgeon - fighting to remove the rights of women and girls for single sex spaces for safety, dignity, privacy, equity of access.

stopping transwomen from using women's toilets won't stop that and may even mean more rapes as for some transwomen if they use men only toilets.

TW are male - have the same patterns of criminality of other men. Where is the evidence that they are less likely to rape than other men?

My DDs are not human shields for TW. Adult males are NOT the most vulnerable in society - irrespective of how they identify.

I think TW are in more danger using female toilets/changing rooms from dads, husbands, boyfriend etc who see them entering/exiting female facilities alongside daughters, wives, girlfriends etc. I think they are much more likely to confront TW in those circumstances.

My husband has no problem sharing male facilities with TW, but he has a major problem with TW sharing female facilities with our DDs.

SweetEspresso · 30/08/2020 16:45

Nature plays tricks. It makes people handicapped, blind or deaf. Or give us bodies we don't want, that sort of thing.
Lottapianos · 30/08/2020 16:46

Accidentally born into men's bodies?! That is not a thing. What is it that makes these male-bodied people female?

ThinEndoftheWedge · 30/08/2020 16:47

You can look it up for yourself, you know. Here's a transman in a team www.nytimes.com/2020/01/28/sports/chris-mosier-trans-athlete-olympic-trials.html
EdgeOfACoin · 30/08/2020 16:47

Transmen are going into male dominated spaces and sports.

Any statistics on how many transmen are beating biological males in men's sport or injuring them during the process?

Are you aware of any transmen equivalents of Rachel McKinnon/Veronica Ivy, Laurel Hubbard, Fallon Fox or Andraya Yearwood?

Are there any instances of transmen sexually assaulting or raping women in areas which are meant to be single sex? Who are the transmen equivalents to Karen White, Katie Dolotowski and Madilyn Harks, etc.?

Do you think that women are more at risk from transwomen than men are from transmen?

OldCrone · 30/08/2020 16:48

Or give us bodies we don't want

That's hardly the same as 'women accidentally born into men's bodies', is it?

TorkTorkBam · 30/08/2020 16:49

I wonder sweet why you think people can identify out of their sex but not their blindness or deafness.

OldCrone · 30/08/2020 16:49

Transwomen are transitioning. In the meantime

What do you mean by 'transitioning'? And how long is this 'meantime'? How do we tell the difference between a transwoman who has just started 'transitioning' and a man who is pretending to be a transwoman?

Why are you trying to remove the rights of transwomen? What makes you superior to them that you block them from the places that should be afforded to them?

If TW is in more danger using those rooms from those men you described then those men are thugs and need locking up.

SweetEspresso · 30/08/2020 16:50

@TorkTorkBam

You put the describer on identifying. It's what they are, not how they identify.

Are you a woman accidentally born in a man's body? Call Delusion Insurance Company on 222 5346. No win no fee!

Kit19 · 30/08/2020 16:53

Do point to the UK legislation that says TW are allowed into women only spaces with no exceptions

How many women have been attacked since transwomen have been using women's toilets? Is this a real thing? One or two blokes may pretend, but then men have raped women in women's toilets without dressing up.

For your fears you stop every single TW from the safe space they also deserve.

It takes as long as it takes dependant on the individual.
