Because there is nothing to disagree with. Take them at their word., if they believe they are a women then they are. Disagreeing is saying they are a lair, it's not an opinion what they are or not.

If a 3' person says they are 5' so must be allowed on the rollercoaster for people 4' and over, am I a bigot if I say no? What if they really really really believe they are taller than they say? What if they wear stilts? At what point does their belief override objective reality?

A flounce preceded by the hyperbole that transwomen cannot even leave the house if they are not to impinge on women. And they are more at risk than women and children and men who are not trans, despite the stats for the UK showing very clearly that transwomen at very low risk of harm in the UK.

A person shoplifts. They say they didn't. The cameras show they did. They are being a called a liar. Is that a problem?

A man cheats on his girlfriend. He tells her he didn't. She knows he did. He thinks because it was only a kiss that it doesn't count as cheating. He really believes he did not cheat. If the woman does still calls him a cheat and dumps him, is she a bigot for not believing what he said about himself then altering her behaviour accordingly?

Why are you trying to remove the rights of transwomen?

Why are transwomen trying to remove female people’s rights? Such as the right to use words that describe ourselves (and not them). The right to protections that counter sex discrimination and the evening up of the privileges that males have enjoyed such as women’s shortlists and awards? And our own sports? And to acknowledge our biological functions define our sex category but not how we act and think.

The criteria to be a transwoman is to be a biological male. You may not like it, but that's how it is.

Just taking the conversation back, nigella is Jewish and will be well aware of the restrictions regarding men and women mixing within the Orthodox community and even more stringent restrictions within the ultra orthodox or Hassidic community.

Anyway, the article referenced in the OP appears to be about a teenage girl who believes she is a boy. As adults know, adolescence is a difficult time and we should be guiding young women to live comfortably in their natural bodies. Not affirming delusional beliefs that they were born in the wrong body.

Presumably you are aware most transwomen retain their male genitalia, even after transition? By 'most' I mean the 'vast majority'.

What I see is a problem which is that some men will claim to be trans to gain access to women’s safe spaces. And they will do that, just think of all the men who have trained to be vicars, teachers, doctors, careworkers, nurses, scout leaders etc just to access vulnerable women and girls. Now all they need to do is claim that they are trans. This is insulting to trans people and hugely dangerous to women and girls. The societal protection offered by single sex toilets and the very real protection offered by refuges is in danger being compromised by this.

I see the pain this must cause genuine trans people, but who gets to win? Do the rights of trans people trump the rights of women to have safe spaces?

If you honestly think that some men (not trans women, but men) won’t do this then you have lead a very sheltered life.

Also, not all women are 100% motivated by some people feeling a bit sad about our opinions.

A few are motivated by not having anyone ever be upset ever. They are they types who end up doing all the housework because the men and the children feel sad if they have to iron school shirts and do the washing up on a nice Sunday evening. They don't spend much time on FWR.

All of the issues surrounding trans ideology - puberty blockers, extreme surgery, gender conformity, homophobia, 'trans' as a mask for other problem, safeguards concerns - have to be ignored, seen as silly and those who raise concerns accused of bigotry, because some adult males want to pee in women's spaces.

Well I’ve definitely changed my views. I didn’t realise until now that trans people are all sexual predators determined to attack us at the first opportunity and whose sole aim in life is to again access to our lavatories. I’m off to buy some box sets of JKR books and return my latest purchases from Lush.
