The snobbery gets fully into it's stride. Sally, the women you teach your blahblahgendequeerblahblsh to are unqualified for any productive job in the real world and will end up as suburban housewives. Chew on that reality.

I could say some very spiteful things about Sally but they'd be libellous. Suffice it to say that people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones

PopperUppleton · 03/09/2020 23:13

Only libel if it isn't true Wink

ItsLateHumpty · 04/09/2020 00:26

Those tweets just shout jealousy to me. Sally can’t seem to stand that an uneducated pleb housewife (paraphrasing) has done more, is known by more, and has bought more attention to this threat to all women than Sally with her education and long words (except some of the late night tweets 😬)

She did get some agreement from Julie Bindle yesterday, but twitter was on fire again because of the marmite situation that is Posie Parker.

I've just read through some of SH tweets, god what an awful person. I guess she'll delete them when she sobers up in the morning.

xxyzz · 04/09/2020 07:54

Are we in the 1950s? Since when was calling a woman a 'suburban housewife' an acceptable term of insult?

Is there something I'm missing whereby those who choose to live neither in the gritty urban centre nor in a village are seen as somehow lesser?

Does choosing to be a SAHM mean that you are seen to have left your brains in the office you used to work at?

Confused

I'd love to be able to afford to be a SAHM, and find suburbia a nice, not-too-expensive place to bring up kids, thank you.

SH doesn’t make herself look good there.

I don’t really understand this row about PP but I think she’s doing amazing things for women!

persistentwoman · 04/09/2020 08:07

This from the brilliant Allison Bailey is an excellent riposte to all this:

Floisme · 04/09/2020 08:46

I get that Julie Bindel dislikes Posie Parker intensely. I still can't imagine disliking anyone so badly that I'd respond to a thread by Sally Hines just to diss them.

I really admire Allison Bailey.

Clymene · 04/09/2020 09:00

A suburban housewife who needs a good fuck according to Sally. Poor Sally, in her desperate attempts to stay relevant to her young students, cones across as a middle aged woman crossed with a teenage boy. I'm cringing for her.

queenofknives · 04/09/2020 09:06

I find that rather despicable of JB.

It's excruciating.

Same. Really disappointing.

That any feminist would even give Sally Hines the time of day, let alone share mutual back slapping over opposition to Posie, is just gobsmacking.

There are many things that Bindel has done over the years that have pissed me off but this is a new low
DaisiesandButtercups · 04/09/2020 09:49

Poise Parker is brilliant!

Proud housewife and mother here too!

RozWatching · 04/09/2020 09:57

I can't help but see the funny side of Sally Hines questioning another woman's worth as a women's rights campaigner. Has Sally read her own work? Has Bindel read Sally's work??? Grin

TinselAngel · 04/09/2020 09:58

Hines would gladly burn women’s rights and dance in the embers laughing drunkenly, but so strong is Julie’s hatred of Posie she feels the need to justify herself to Hines!

Floisme · 04/09/2020 10:04

It's bizarre, but also a useful reminder that no-one has the monopoly on this, and that even people I admire can do something so dumb and shitty that it takes my breath away.

Destinysdaughter · 04/09/2020 10:04

Dr Jessica Eaton is another one who has a bee in her bonnet about PP and there's a whole series of tweets denouncing her. Personally I think it's pathetic feminists attacking each other when we've got a much bigger enemy to fight.

queenofknives · 04/09/2020 10:10

Have to admit I've never understood the hatred and approbation for Posie. I don't agree with everything she says 100% of the time but that is the case for literally everyone! It's quite normal, surely, to have areas of disagreement, or just sometimes think, ooh I wouldn't have said that/said it that way/that's a bit much or whatever? I'd say the same about JB - I support her work with women, not massively keen on her media feminism or her personality from what I've seen of it.

I don't get why there's this demand for women to agree 100% about everything all the time, right down to the way that something is expressed. It seems so petty and personal. Magdalen Berns was so outspoken and most feminists (including me) loved her for it. Posie Parker is just as outspoken in her own way and she is 'divisive'? I don't get it.

Sorry, I am just having a moan, really. But I do wish that we would lower our expectations of each other a bit, and maybe be more charitable - assume that other women have good intentions and want the same things we do. Overlook petty disagreements. And certainly don't give ammunition to TRAs like Sally Hines.

RozWatching · 04/09/2020 10:22

Agreed. When all this is over, Julie Bindel can stop wanging on about her deplatforming and other people's platforms, and focus on her amazing work with vulnerable women. Everyone wins.
The sooner that happens, the better.

DialSquare · 04/09/2020 10:31

This is a really good point. Could it be that the "purity" feminists are actually showing their own ingrained bias here? That because Magdalen was a lesbian she is treated differently to Posie who is heterosexual and a suburban housewife?

Grr. Annoying frigging blokes wittering on in the background.
