@DJLippy

That speech where he spoke for 5x longer than all the other women about how he has learned he had to deal with his subconscious misogony Hmm
yes, that one, he was funny, and I want to send it to someone who commented on - he is not in the 40-min video at top of this thread (which has Maria Mac at 20:35)

@lady69

Kellie has never said she is a feminist. She simply fights for women’s rights. So prominent feminist on about “no true feminists” and getting sanctimonious and caught up in purity spirals may as well give it up. She doesn’t care about all that navel gazing crap. She just wants women and girls to be safe. Anyone clutching their pearls over her style of activism seem to me to be plain old jealous of her success quite honestly; this upstart housewife from Wiltshire stealing all their mighty academic learned thunder and being pretty and glam too! How very dare she.
It would be helpful though if she didn't encourage men to "carry" guns into women's toilets to protect the space. That kind of publicity we could do without, and suggesting violence is not a winning strategy.

I heard Kellie say that she fell out with WPUK. Anyone know when and why and what happened?

NO

Phrasing that defamation as a question - how disingenuous!

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 08/02/2021 18:24

Why do I recognise your name disappointed?

Did you start a thread? Really can’t remember

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 08/02/2021 18:38

I think ive remembered

OhHolyJesus · 09/02/2021 12:56

Just watched that Glinner YT with Meno. It was brilliant. He spoke very passionately about sex and being gay/same-sex attracted and made an apology to lesbians who he had previously dismissed. He gave several useful examples as situations he has been in and he was very much recognising the women who have been talking about this for years and encouraged gay men to speak up as he has done. It was also really interesting to hear about his twin sister being very Tom-boy like in her youth and having some kind of body dysphoria in her teenage years. Really fascinating. I liked how it signed off too:

"If you're not at the table you're in the menu". 😆

Also Posie has deleted the video but I'm pretty sure she was addressing "men who carry" as a group rather than saying "men should carry guns into the women's toilets". It's been discussed elsewhere as it caused some interest but without having the original to check back I do think it has been taken out of context, though can't prove that obviously without the original.

Was that 'disappointed' a freudian slip, Rufus? I remember the poster promising us that [their contribution] would be great, but women actually found it rather inadequate Sad

WaterTree · 09/02/2021 13:53

This is what Posie had to say on Spinster about the video that was posted.

Fiddfefuss · 23/05/2021 12:19

So proud of Posie and all those who stood up for women and girls. ❤️

Childrenofthestones · 23/05/2021 12:50

@FedUpAtHomeTroels

They need a bullhorn, there was someone muttering away near the person filming making some of it hard to hear. Well done to Posie. I hope it does grow and doesn't get shouting down by the TRA's
"Bullhorn"

I don't think they are allowed there.
Which is a bit unfair on women when you think about it, as an average man is far more likely to have naturally booming loud voice.

MissSeventies · 23/05/2021 12:53

Currently live at Speaker's Corner today, 23rd May. Current speaker is talking about FGM while I hear the voices of men, presumably, heckling in the background.

@DialSquare

Magdalen Berns was so outspoken and most feminists (including me) loved her for it. Posie Parker is just as outspoken in her own way and she is 'divisive'? I don't get it.

This is a really good point. Could it be that the "purity" feminists are actually showing their own ingrained bias here? That because Magdalen was a lesbian she is treated differently to Posie who is heterosexual and a suburban housewife?

I think thats interesting too @DialSquare but bloody depressing if true. As someone said earlier: "A feminist doesnt have to have a PHD but is someone who stands up for the rights of women", or something along those lines.

@StamfordHill

Trans skepticism at Speakers' Corner is just preaching to the choir. The vast majority of people there fully agree. If she wants to change minds (or ruffle feathers), she should speak at universities.
Would she be allowed to, though?
mollythemeerkat · 23/05/2021 13:55

Not so sure about a supportive audience at Speakers Corner. Seem to remember a woman with a camera being called abused as a T..f and attacked in the early days of all this.
