Two seconds?

Xanthangum · 23/06/2020 12:17

Phew. We can still shop there.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 23/06/2020 12:19

Fuck me. That's rather different from what they were saying before! The Baroness really is a force to be reckoned with Shock Grin

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 23/06/2020 12:20

annoying though that Ms Josephine Bloggs wouldn't have got (and didn't get) the same reply though.

All credit to the Baroness though, she's really on a roll atm

Igmum · 23/06/2020 12:38

Excellent result! I wrote to the CEO and got a poorly written email back from 'Jon' about misunderstanding the text. Wrote back to the CEO quoting the section about the 6-year old giving oral sex, highlighted in bold and asked which bits I had misunderstood. So pleased to see this letter to the best Baroness

partystress · 23/06/2020 12:42

A small victory, and hopefully will help refute notions that she was batty to raise it. Nothing suggesting they are reviewing the partnership though? Considering this (DRM) is an organisation that goes into schools, are no further alarm bells ringing about their suitability for such work?

I wonder are they emailing everyone they emailed the packs to with an apology marked urgent - safe guarding issue?

grumpypreggers · 23/06/2020 12:50

I was just wobdeing the same thing @VaggieMight

Kit19 · 23/06/2020 12:56

Hahaha now that’s how it’s done Body Shop! It shouldn’t of course have taken the Baroness to get involved but I’m glad she did

Michelleoftheresistance · 23/06/2020 13:06

I should bloody well think so, that's the response that should have been immediately sent out from the start.

And yes, while I love the Baroness and am increasingly grateful to her because God knows they don't listen to anyone else, it's sickening that ordinary people get fobbed off and scolded for their naughty misinterpretations, yet the Baroness says the exact same thing and gets an immediately admission of fault and definite safeguarding breach actions taken.

OldeMagick · 23/06/2020 13:06

@VaggieMight

What's the background to this?
Asda's diversity packs for children, containing a book with an account of a 6 year old giving a blowjob
Michelleoftheresistance · 23/06/2020 13:07

And a slogan they lifted straight from the Paedophile Information Exchange: 'love has no age limit'.

Dear Lady Nicholson,
Re: Diversity Role Models
Thank you for your letter dated 19“ June regarding the home learning packs produced by our charity partner Diversity Role Models.
I would like to wholeheartedly apologise for this situation; it should go without saying that we do not support any form of abuse and I am completely aghast that we have allowed ourselves to be associated in this way.

As soon as we became aware, we asked for the material to be removed, but our checks should have spotted that it was clearly inappropriate before the email was sent. I have asked
that we review and strengthen our internal processes and controls, especially around partnerships and content produced by third parties, so that an error such as this does not happen again.

The home learning packs were intended to celebrate diversity and help parents to talk to their children about LGBT+ issues. it is incredibly disappointing that this intention, and our genuine support for the LGBT+ community, has been undermined as a result.
Yours sincerely,

Roger Burnley
Chief Executive Officer
Asda Stores Ltd.

I do note however that they havent apologised for any harm caused to the children.

They seem to be more worried about the association with their name and any damage to their relationship with the LGBTQ community.

What about the children Confused

NotAssigned · 23/06/2020 13:29

He says 'as soon as we became aware'. Well hundreds of women told you before the Baroness did and they were fobbed off.

It was ever thus however that powerful people will have more clout. Thus we need to continue to form relationships with and support such people. A few more MPs would be marvellous. Nothing persuades me that out of 650 there are only a small handful who understand what's going on.

These sorts of things take me back to the Newsnight/Savile scandal. "Is anyone complaining? No, just the women". Says it all really.

of course, Hmm
SarahTancredi · 23/06/2020 13:54

Is reviewing procedures the new "lessons will be learned" Hmm

truthisarevolutionaryact · 23/06/2020 14:01

It's a good letter and hopefully an effective lesson to a massive organisation that diversity and inclusion is being used as a Trojan horse by some very dodgy people - especially those wishing to target children in relation to sex and sexuality.

Now we just need the government to exercise the same due diligence as schools are being targeted by the same people / organisations.

Have any of the patrons of Diversity Role Models said anything?

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 23/06/2020 14:07

Yes. And sitting here increasingly depressed about the difference in responses to John Cleese and JK Rowling. Women & children are bottom of the heap for anyone, unless they're actually someone with as much power and influence as, say, a Baroness.

At best, when women speak up, they are ignored. Then it ratchets up to Karening, at worst there's death threats & rape threats.

For all the desperately well-meaning talk about privilege & power lately, so few people seem to be capable of seeing this absolutely glaring chasm of an imbalance, even though it's lit up in technicolour with flashing red lights and bunting.

Nah

People have been alerting everyone to this for years.

All that's happened is that those pointing it our are blocked banned or arrested Hmm

This letter is one big " we are sorry we got caught"

Absolutely no one is backing down. Girl guides , nspcc, body shop, lush etc no one.

And I personally informed girl guides and nspcc of the 80 page investigation slamming ACs understanding of safeguarding.

You would have to be under a rock to not know. If regular every day women with zero access to funds and armed with just a smart phone and a laptop of the kids get off it know about this then a multi million pound international company should.

They would rather brazen it out and hope people forget about it than use their names and funds to launch an investigation into what's happening.
