How long until the backlash do you think?

Good result but the mind still boggles as to why Asda - a grocery shop, thought they needed to get involved in explaining inclusivity and diversity to anyone let alone children.

Aesopfable · 23/06/2020 14:21

As soon as we became aware, we asked for the material to be removed

So you didn’t think “shit! Why have we partnered with an organisation promoting paedophilia in schools. We must distance ourselves from the immediately”

No!

Your simple asked them not to be so obvious Angry

The worrying thing is the campaign that a certain TRA is mounting against Baroness Nicholson!

It's being shared all over Instagram as a response to "black trans lives matters". They are really whipping up their supporters against the Baroness.

RUOKHon · 23/06/2020 14:24

Thank god. I can check out my order with George now!

But they haven't even severed ties with the agency.

Coffeeandbeans · 23/06/2020 14:29

Just goes to show the power of a title. Perhaps I need to identify as a sir. Joking aside heads should roll at Asda and well done to the Baroness.

MondayYogurt · 23/06/2020 14:32

And here come the TRA child abuse apologists, busy minimising the grooming.

The TRA hate child and actively want to hurt and sexually abuse them. That's the only conclusion I can make.

@Igmum

Excellent result! I wrote to the CEO and got a poorly written email back from 'Jon' about misunderstanding the text. Wrote back to the CEO quoting the section about the 6-year old giving oral sex, highlighted in bold and asked which bits I had misunderstood. So pleased to see this letter to the best Baroness
It is an excellent result, but it shouldn't have taken someone with the Baroness' influence, really. Having it pointed out should have been enough. I'm not really impressed that it took the amount of exposure that it did to get them to take it seriously.
kesstrel · 23/06/2020 14:40

I doubt ASDA will get back the £100,000 they donated to this "charity" to go into schools and preach their message to children there, however.

Kit19 · 23/06/2020 14:43

the thing is, they cant cancel the Baroness, they really cant so they can send her shitty abusive messages till the cows come home, but she isnt going to go anywhere!

Im far more worried that she'll just get overwhelmed with the sheer numbers of organisations and institutions that have been captured

StealthPolarBear · 23/06/2020 14:43

Interesting

I won’t be shopping with ASDA again. This is too little, too late.

ASDA, you should have been far more stringent in choosing your charity partners. You should have been far more stringent in checking their materials. You should have been far more stringent in determining what organisations you are funding.

You should have kept your fingers out of the PIE. You have demonstrated that you don’t have the first clue about safeguarding. Shame on you.

You should send an email to every single household that received the original email, clearly setting out your mistakes and retracting all the materials included in the pack.

You should apologise to all your customers for thinking you have any remit to address parenting skills and/or the tackling of issues relating to sexuality on behalf of your customers and their children or young people. You are a supermarket. You have no business getting involved in anything but selling your wares! Focus on making your corporate footprint more ethical, right across the board, rather than presuming to preach at or lecture your customers.

RUOKHon · 23/06/2020 16:02

I was being facetious but I don’t think it came across well!

WTF were Asda doing getting involved with all this in the first place? Trying to score cheap woke points at the expense of children’s safeguarding.

As someone said above. They’re a supermarket. They should stick to selling tea bags and cucumbers. There really wasn’t any need for this to happen.

Carlottacoffee · 23/06/2020 16:11

I do hope they are going to recall all the packs...

SarahTancredi · 23/06/2020 16:15

Especially when theres so much stuff "behind the scenes" companies can do to be inclusive. Like genuinely trying to not be a shitty company. Make sure your staff are paid equally. Make sure you are upholding the law with regards to maternity and pregnancy rights and the rights of those with disabilities.

Make sure your provisions for disabilities exceed "adequate" and are consistent across the board.

Sort out your customer service.

Ensure staff are generally just looked after and feel safe and are listened to if they have a complaint.

But i guess none of that elevates your status on twitter so it doesnt count Hmm

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 23/06/2020 16:24

Yes, but I have a bit of a hope that once the dominoes start to fall, others will see the way the wind is blowing and start to actually do due diligence themselves. Die-hard optimist, me.

Carlottacoffee · 23/06/2020 16:26

It’s brilliant she has stepped forward. I wonder when the TRA will notice her. I think there usual tactics will cause quite a stir in the HOL.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 23/06/2020 16:28

A cynic might say it's far cheaper and easier to stick a few rainbow flags on your Twitter account than take a genuine look at working practices and how one might have to make enormous changes to tackle, say, equal pay, fair trade, workers' rights, etc.

StealthPolarBear · 23/06/2020 16:42

Women and people with disabilities SarahTancredi? They don't get you brownie points, borr-rring.

SarahTancredi · 23/06/2020 16:44

Silly meHmm paedophilia far more important

Kit19 · 23/06/2020 16:48

The problem is carlotta several members of the House of Lords notably baronesses hunt & barker and lord cashman have been at the forefront of pushing this agenda

Enderthedragon · 23/06/2020 16:49

Munroe Bergdorf is encouraging their followers to complain to parliament about Baroness Nicholson.

The other day, The Baroness started a tweet with 'Dear Mr Bergdorf' eeeeeek! Can you imagine how that went down? Grin

nauticant · 23/06/2020 16:55

TRAs: "Such a fuss! Only a small part of the teaching pack for children was enabling paedophilia!"

It's gobsmacking. It clearly isn't clueless ignorance for all of them. So how many of them are aware of the risks and are actively pushing this?

Michelleoftheresistance · 23/06/2020 16:57

Thing is though on current evidence, it looks to me Baroness Nicholson would gladly put her case in court, and if she takes evidence of harassment and overt breaking of social media rules to the powers that be, she won't end up with PC Gul telling her incoherent nonsense or sitting in a cell free bleeding for hours on end.
