That is a wonderful article.

Heartfelt, raw, grittily articulate, and beautifully communicative.

But, she should not have to say this.

No woman should have to revisit sexual trauma to justify women only spaces. Ffs.

Twenty percent of women will be sexually assaulted or raped. Twenty fucking percent.

There is not a woman alive who hasn't been cat called, or groped or worse.

I hope all those men on Twitter, and all those politicians are hanging their heads in abject and searing shame.

criticalthinking · 10/06/2020 18:28

She was absolutely stunning and brave! We thank you Jo x

SpokeTooSoon · 10/06/2020 18:29

She’s amazing and so eloquent.

Trouble is, if the TRAs read it at all (they won’t) they’ll simply reply: transwomen are women.

rogdmum · 10/06/2020 18:29

I have been sobbing my eyes out. I stopped and then DH came downstairs and asked if I were OK and I started again. This will raise so much awareness of “ROGD”.

Datun · 10/06/2020 18:30

Do you think JK is on MN?

I do. This is the place where much of the information resides. This is where you get a cross-section of opinion.

Anywhere else she is looking will also be informed by this site, in my opinion.

Jk, If you're reading this, and I hope you are, thank you.

@JellySlice

Email and tell her:

Thanks for that link JellySlice. I'm going to email her now.
Datun · 10/06/2020 18:31

rogdmum

It's a turning point.

The wheels are coming off the ideology. Hence the narcissistic meltdown of the suck my dick men on Twitter.

LouHotel · 10/06/2020 18:31

Justine and mumsnet just to say you deserve all the credit in the world for weathering this storm and I'm so glad you wont have to do it alone anymore.

Oncewasblueandyellowtwo · 10/06/2020 18:31

What a woman, I'm bursting with pride & tears.

Howtochoose · 10/06/2020 18:32

A beautifully written piece.
As a woman,I do not feel as though my voice is heard and there really is far too little constructive debate.
I lack the eloquence of JKR but I will endeavour to be brave for the sake of my DD and DGD and continue to speak up and support women.

LizzieSiddal · 10/06/2020 18:32

I'm just going to repost what i put on the other thread-

Beautifully written.
JK didn't need to share such personal information and she's been forced to.Flowers Thank you JK, you speak for so many of us.x

And like many other, I've cried.

NamechangedbecauseTwitter · 10/06/2020 18:33

Unfortunately had to name change due to concerns about job but wanted to add to the voices saying what an absolute legend JKR is. She is so so brave to do this and I'd just like to very humbly say thanks ThanksThanksThanks

4Naan · 10/06/2020 18:33

Weeping. It's the first time in years I haven't felt stuck in utter powerlessness when it comes to this debate. Thank you JKR 💐

TinDogTavern · 10/06/2020 18:33

I've never read any of her books, (and also I'm rock hard Grin) and I'm in tears. Utterly utterly wonderful. Thank you JK Rowling. Thank you.

Coffeecak3 · 10/06/2020 18:35

JKRowling is a brave and intelligent woman.
I’ve copied to fbook. The beauty of being retired, I don’t care who I piss off.

Frlrlrubert · 10/06/2020 18:35

Wow.

I broke out and shared something on my Facebook about biological sex just yesterday (I don't twitter but I'd seen stuff on here).

I got the expected backlash.

The part about her wondering if she'd have been 'transed' if she grew up today is so similar to what I posted at lunchtime in response to some of my 'friends' that it's eerie.

TinDogTavern · 10/06/2020 18:35

I've put it on my FB, where I'm usually only mildly GC. Come at me, woke bros and edge-lords!

MindTheMinotaur · 10/06/2020 18:37

I'd like to buy her Robert Galbraith books for my dad for Father's Day. Can anyone suggest the best way to max out her royalties and support a good bookseller? Thanks very much.

She is phenomenal, isn't she. My respect for her grows every day.

HUCKMUCK · 10/06/2020 18:37

I wish I could articulate myself half as well as this. What a great piece of writing.

I certainly can identify with what she says about women not wanting to speak out for fears they have about their jobs.

Thank you JKR.

RaveOnThisCrazyFeeling · 10/06/2020 18:38

Wonderful... I can't think when I've been so grateful to anyone.

I sobbed when I read that she made direct contact with Magdalen. I'm so glad that Magdalen would have known she had an admirer in JKR, and that such an influential ally as her was just waiting for the right time to raise her voice. Kudos to Magdalen for never 'outing' JKR before she was ready.

I sobbed again, harder and longer, when I finished reading. The sheer relief at having someone of JKR's stature bringing so much daylight to this. It's overwhelming.

GalOopNorth · 10/06/2020 18:38

Thank you JK. Flowers

teawamutu · 10/06/2020 18:38

I emailed her - thank you for that address, sounds like the huge amount of support she got last time made a difference to her.

And MNHQ and Justine, Flowers from me for taking the principled stance you have. I know it's cost you.

YourVagesty · 10/06/2020 18:38

Oh. My. God

I got a third through her statement and had to stand up to walk around because I had a sudden jolt of excess energy. This has to be a turning point. This letter will be read around the world!

And I'm also chuckling to myself thinking about how the 'suck my lady dick' blegh) brigade will receive this. They will be so confused! The little woman has not apologised to them!

Frlrlrubert · 10/06/2020 18:39

Also a big thank you to all of you ladies, I came here a few years ago and got a drubbing for using 'cis' went away and did some reading and have mostly lurked since. You've been an education and a half Thanks

teawamutu · 10/06/2020 18:39

Also I got brave and shared it to FB. Nervous.
