I think you are mixing up your Indias, India Willoughby is the trans person. India Knight is the writer.

NeurotrashWarrior · 11/06/2020 14:38

Yes THAT was a senior moment.

Juggling kids, work and home schooling while keeping up with FWR is taxing on the brain...

MrsDarcyIwish · 11/06/2020 14:39

Long time lurker on FWR.

So moved and very, very grateful for what JKR has done for us all.

I have sent en email expressing my gratitude and support.

I would like to send one to Emma Watson aswell but can't find an address. Can anyone help with that?

The Body Shop will also be hearing from me Angry

Datun · 11/06/2020 14:39

How do you phrase that question; why are tw w without saying anything sexist..?

Do you mean how you define the word woman without resorting to sexist stereotypes?

Because it's just that. If transwomen are women, you need to define the word woman in that sentence.

And if it's not adult human female, of or denoting the sex who bear eggs, then what is it?

I don't think you'll have to ask anything more leading than that.

What you generally get in reply is a disagreement about the definition adult human female, due to intersex, and then you lose the will to live and open the wine.

Because they can't actually answer your specific question without being sexist.

The point at which they refuse to answer question is the point at which you know they can't, and you can thankfully leave the conversation (taking what little is left of the wine with you).

YgritteSnow · 11/06/2020 14:43

Do you mean India Willoughby. India has gone the whole hog, all possible surgeries etc. I think India resents that others can just turn up and self ID without doing sweet FA.

NeurotrashWarrior · 11/06/2020 14:59

Thanks Datun.
I'm being drawn to task over supporting a medical professional for sharing JKs letter

Perfect thank you! .

FantaOra · 11/06/2020 15:01

"What message are female children taking from all this? The values they'd better not dare breach don't include them."

Fortunately Stephanie from Transgender Trend was on the show to say exactly that to this headmaster, and to tell him he's on the side of the bullies. He denied all this of course and kept saying that she wasn't the right role model.

No woman is good enough for these shitty little men.

Naomi Wolf is confused about what a woman is (no surprise there) and doesn't know the difference between sex and gender.

"If sex isn't real, the lived reality of women globally is erased." Such a reductive view of women's "lived reality." And there is no fixed "truth" about "what sex is." Views of female gender have changed over centuries.

Dances could you screenshot from the fragrant Aidan C? I think my only ever interaction with him was to like some tweets of his a few years back (before he discovered the tra agenda) but I appear to be blocked Confused

WomaninBoots · 11/06/2020 15:22

I have emailed JK to tell her I love her. Well to say thank you anyway. Professions of love might be a bit too weird.

I also emailed my MP (Scotland). No idea how that is going to go down. Suspect I'll get a lecture that TWAW... but meh. 🤷‍♀️

Still not gone full Facebook share. Still thinking about it.

Don't mind me, I remembered the incognito tab.
hypernormal · 11/06/2020 15:28

Enormouscroc There is absolutely no discongruence between sympathising for transgender people and not wishing to have women's rights essentially abolished by the GRA. This is the lie that is pushed to shame women into compliance.

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 11/06/2020 15:30

@ValancyRedfern

India Knight has suggested she supports JKR in a cautious way.
Do you mean her tweet about having “lots to say”? I think that’s about her partner (husband) being arrested on child abuse image charges.
GingerAndTheBiscuits · 11/06/2020 15:31

Husband should have a question mark there.

RedTravellingSocks · 11/06/2020 15:51

Oh what a surprise that Naomi Wolf can't even define her most basic terms Hmm

CaraDune · 11/06/2020 15:54

Naomi "death recorded" Wolf, the non-historian who tried to write a history book, who when it was pointed out to her (live on air by a specialist in 19th century history) that "death recorded" meant "death sentence commuted to imprisonment" simply doubled down on her mistaken interpretation.

She isn't the brightest bulb.

CaveMum · 11/06/2020 15:56

I got a reply to my email from JKR’s office a while ago (sent email last night so presume they are wading through), it was very short “thanks for your kind words and support” but I really hope that receiving such messages helps to strengthen her resolve that what she is doing is 100% right and that she’s has the backing of the majority of women.

Sandybval · 11/06/2020 15:58

I can't figure out if the mail are trying to point out how ridiculous it is in the last sentence...or if they're being serious.

I saw the report on the BBC lunchtime news. It was surprisingly balanced for the BBC.
However at one point the reporter said something along the lines of both sides were being nasty on Twitter

Datun · 11/06/2020 16:07

I don't think headline writers do anything by accident

Collidascope · 11/06/2020 16:10

😄 That Daily Mail screenshot. They're taking the piss. They're actually on her side for this one.

CaraDune · 11/06/2020 16:14

@Sandybval

I can't figure out if the mail are trying to point out how ridiculous it is in the last sentence...or if they're being serious.
I think it's a deliberate ploy. Because your average member of the general public will read it and think "What? But surely, obviously, only women can menstruate." It's actually quite clever. They've chosen the wording so no-one can play the "what, are you saying post-menopausal women or women who've had hysterectomies aren't women" card. They're just saying the equivalent of "no man has ever menstruated."

Remember, they're tied by the press code which bans misgendering (even for convicted sex offenders, which led to the bloody ridiculous and frankly dangerous "Sex offender Lisa Hauxwell escaped from prison and is now on the run, and may be dressed as a man... very dangerous, should not be approached by the public" nonsense). This is quite a clever way of getting their readership to go "WTAF? But if that's what Rowling's said, surely she's just stating the obvious? Why is there this crazy witch-hunt going on?"

BabyLlamaZen · 11/06/2020 16:16

@collidascope I agree as the inverted commas for 'transphobic'
