@Soconfused2020 I feel exactly the same. I just don't understand why what she said would be deemed as transphobic.
I related to her essay in more ways than one... I wept at certain parts... and I scoured the paragraphs for anything that could be taken as an offence to any group of people, and I genuinely couldn't see any.
I can't understand the backlash.
The only way I can make any sense of it is that the trans activists are simply defensive because they know on a deep level that she's right. I'm afraid to say but the aggression of some comments coming from trans activists just remind me of the (general / stereotypical) aggression of men. Is that transphobic of me? Is that a sexist comment? I honestly don't know anymore!
But I am glad the conversation is happening nonetheless. I don't know a lot about it but I do believe women's rights need to be protected from men... All types of men...even if they identify as women. At the same time, genuine transwomen also need to be protected from men. There's a running theme here...
