I lurk here as an antidote to the wall to wall wokeness I see on Facebook. I am not brave enough to out myself as GC (even to the friend I know follows Fair Play for Women too). I have no one to discuss my concerns with, as DH is dangerously woke too. I've never even been brave enough to post here before. And I've never loved JKR more than I do right now. Just a wonderful, wonderful human, to whom I am so grateful for saying what I am too scared to say too.

Thisismytimetoshine · 10/06/2020 22:50

Ah, Emma, you silly little girl...

BringbackLang · 10/06/2020 22:52

Emma is extremely privileged, is from a well off family. I believe that she went to Brown university. Of course she doesn't give a toss about a woman being gang raped and murdered on bus in India, nor does she care that in some parts of the world women and girls are STILL treated like pariahs and unclean when they are on their period. Why should Emma care about the number of women murdered in the UK every bloody week or the women and children forced in to sex slavery or that young girls suffer from horrific genital mutilation every day of every year because it makes it better for their future husbands.

Why should she care? Those things won't get Emma and her ilk likes or popularity so why bother. It's not cause the cause de jour.

And don't mention that what can not be named... that the drugs they give the children to block puberty actually are harmful, or that girls are mutilating their bodies. I could go on but I'm tired and I cannot be arsed to rant anymore.

It seems your feminism includes misogyny, Emma.

On a side note it felt very good to unfriend a few people on social media for sharing DR post.

littlbrowndog · 10/06/2020 22:52

Johanna cheery is supporting her as well

It’s great to see clever people supporting her

Unlike the suck my dick you cunt mob

Michelleoftheresistance · 10/06/2020 22:57

I see Emma's announced the equivalent of 'let them eat cake' and 'all lives matter'.

Badassmama · 10/06/2020 22:58

You rock Jk.

boatyardblues · 10/06/2020 23:00

@NeverTalksToStrangers

Looks like Emma tweeted 1 minute after I said I was quietly optimistic regarding her. SadBlush
You jinxed it. Bad, bad Never. Wink

Well she is a women's ambassador for the UN, so you would think she would have an understand of the sex based oppression of women around the world. But apparently not. Apparently people are whoever they say they are. Which makes you wonder why those girls who can't go to school because they have a vagina don't just identify as boys?

Enderthedragon · 10/06/2020 23:03

I also wonder if at some point she will come to regret promoting Mermaids. There are already a lot of replies on that particular tweet.

I really hope so.

LBC discussion after midnight on Tom Swarbrick’s show

AgentCooper · 10/06/2020 23:08

I’ve just read her post. I could cry. She’s not said anything wrong or cruel and the abuse she’s getting is horrible. Buzzfeed described it more or less as ‘JK Rowling’s transphobic essay.’ How?? She’s poured her heart out in that essay, spoken about her own painful experiences.

Nobody listens to women and girls. Nobody cares about what happens to our bodies.

CheerfuIPotato · 10/06/2020 23:08

Emma is a silly girl not fit to lick JKs boots.

PapsofJura · 10/06/2020 23:10

What a fantastic and articulate response. Whilst avidly reading many threads on this subject on mumsnet I have never been emboldened to comment through fear and this article has finally brought me out of the woodwork.

AgentCooper · 10/06/2020 23:11

And there’s a post on that Buzzfeed article comparing her to a white supremacist. That’s fucking horrific given what’s happening in the world right now. As if a man of colour being murdered because of his skin colour is in any way comparable to JK Rowling saying sex is real and women are made vulnerable when they are not permitted to separate themselves from men.

BentBastard · 10/06/2020 23:13

I've emailed but will also post on here in case she reads here.

I'm extremely grateful for her bravery and writing her arguments in a way I could never hope to achieve.

Thank you Jo, thank you.

ChattyLion · 10/06/2020 23:14

Grin Michelle

AgentCooper · 10/06/2020 23:15

@BentBastard indeed.

If you are reading, Jo, I wish I could give you a big hug. You do not deserve this abuse Flowers thank you for speaking for women and girls.

Haworthia · 10/06/2020 23:16

What she said about, had she been born 30 years later, she too might have embraced being a trans boy, was so bang on the money.

She really, really gets it.

MaleficentsCrow · 10/06/2020 23:16

I'm on a phone so don't think the below link will work, I don't know, but if you copy it in the abuse JK is receiving is horrific!!! How can anyone preach they just want to be accepted, and to be tolerant when they spout this!!!

Barracker · 10/06/2020 23:16

I can't express my disgust at Emma Watson betraying Joanne this way. Her deliberate wording, her choice of timing.

I care nothing for her opinion, she is vacuous, cowardly and unthinking, but the thought of how each of these successive betrayals may be piercing Joanne, these people she has known since childhood and no doubt loved, each in turn expressing their rejection of her and their support for the people issuing her death threats.

I can't imagine how painful these public denouncements from her friends must feel.

I'm about as close to hate as I ever want to be right now for these awful people, writing their lies and appeasing the mob by throwing Joanne to them as a sacrifice.

I wish them a long lifetime in the company they have chosen.

@RedToothBrush

There's a writer who has tweeted that "she just doesn't understand why JK has done this", then in the next breath, "oh look, my new book is out for pre order"

Oh look here comes a bangwagon I can hitch my wago to so I can sell my shit.

Seems there is more than a few of them out there. Its remarkably cynical and very very neo-capitalist.

I do hope that's been pointed out.

Separate but related note - finally seeing some blue ticks speaking out in support. About fucking time.
