Out of interests are you sharing without comment or adding your own words?

LilyRed · 10/06/2020 21:00

shared, because I'm old and ugly enough to deal with any naysayers, but so far in the four or five years I've been posting GC articles, no comeback.
JK Rowling, you are a brave and wonderful woman, thankyou.

pandafunfactory · 10/06/2020 21:00

Fantastic piece from a brave and brilliant woman

BadSeedsComeAndGo · 10/06/2020 21:01

Brilliantly written. And genuinely humbling that she is willing to speak for so many others that share the same concerns but feel that they have no voice.

Turkeydrumstick · 10/06/2020 21:01

She is the most amazing woman.

MyDogPatch · 10/06/2020 21:02

I want to agree with previous posters. It was well researched, eloquent and deeply, deeply personal.

I quit Twitter this week, because I supported Jo and got tons of hate back. I tried asking what exactly was hateful or transphobic about my tweets but didn't get a coherent response. It wasn't doing my mental health any good so I deactivated my account.

I'll email Jo too.

stella47 · 10/06/2020 21:03

I hope that she can somehow feel all the love and support that there is for her. I feel for her so much. I wish we could insulate her from the vicious threats.

Gottheteeshirtandlostit · 10/06/2020 21:03

Got something in my eye. Thanks JK. Flowers

Andthenthenewone · 10/06/2020 21:04

She is bloody awesome.

Marylou62 · 10/06/2020 21:05

If I could quote every post and agree with you all.. I would..thanks Joanne from the bottom of my heart...

CheerfuIPotato · 10/06/2020 21:06

@MyDogPatch - I quit Twitter this morning. I feel so much better for it.

kingkuta · 10/06/2020 21:07

I think she's amazing and am so thankful to her for using her voice.
Have emailed her my support and also emailed CEO of Body Shop. I'll never buy anything from them again

Ickabog · 10/06/2020 21:10

Outstanding writing, by an amazing woman. Star Star

Kettlingur · 10/06/2020 21:11

The libfems in my circles who are normally all about solidarity and women power are making fun of her and claiming she's "got the science wrong". Without going into any specifics, of course.

MinteeFresh · 10/06/2020 21:12

Incredible!

boatyardblues · 10/06/2020 21:13

@Faffandahalf

Don’t know if anyone noticed but on Twitter the TRA’s have screenshot the MN post with JK email so they will be flooding it with hate as we speak.
Don’t feel badly about it. The same email address is published on her blog, as is her agent’s address. We just need to ensure the supportive emails outweigh the negative ones.
MotherForkinShirtBalls · 10/06/2020 21:14

I'm so glad JK has done this but so sad she needed to frame it within her experience of domestic violence and assault. Women should be allowed our spaces for no other reason than we need them. Thank you JK for your bravery....again. Flowers

Imonlymoominafterall · 10/06/2020 21:15

JK didn't have to do this. Thank you JK from one not as brave as you.

bookworm29 · 10/06/2020 21:16

I'm a longtime lurker here who has admired JK Rowling as an author for a long time. I'm now so in awe of her intelligence, compassion and bravery that I had to post.

I felt an incredible sense of being seen and valued as a woman when I read this, which brought tears to my eyes. I'm so grateful to her for sacrificing her peace of mind and privacy for the benefit of other women and children. She has inspired to me to learn more, say more and do more as a feminist myself.

Thank you JK. You are incredible ❤️

AyeRobot · 10/06/2020 21:21

Fantastic, Jo.

And yes to thanking Justine because without MN being a platform I don't think she'd have got to such clarity. I really hope Jo is a MNer, but even if not the ripples that have come from this platform into the wider world have led to this place.

And thanks to Dittany - she was one of the fabulous women that laid the foundation for that platform to be the women - centered place it is, flaws though there may be. We tried to stop you being thrown under the bus, but rest assured that you gave many of us the confidence to stand up for women without apology.

DeRigueurMortis · 10/06/2020 21:23

Bloody hell reading that mad me cry Blush

Thank you JKR and I hope Daniel and Eddie are the first to apologise to you when they've read that - though frankly I doubt they will do either because they can't see their misogyny through the veil of wokeness they wear over their male privilege, preaching from a platform you in part or whole were response for providing them.

Iggi999 · 10/06/2020 21:26

This was brilliant. I never expected this.
Wow.
