I knew when I read about Robyn in the Strike books that JK gets it at a deep visceral level.
She knows how much it affects the choices you make playing yourself small, staying with the “safe” boyfriend or alternatively denying your scared and taking stupid risks.
I didn’t know how much she was writing from her own personal experience. She knows why women and girls need safe spaces.
She didn’t have to do this. She could have kept quiet and said nothing but she didn’t she spoke her truth. Calmly and eloquently. Even knowing that would bring death and rape threats on her. I already loved her. I didn’t think I could love her this much more.
