Independence looking less likely with every tweet.

God, these people are thick.

Winesalot · 09/06/2020 14:24

The declaration that transwomen are adult females was very popular.... not!

BaronessRadishFemish · 09/06/2020 14:31

Like royalcorgi I am coming round to the idea that this whole shitshow is driven by extreme stupidity.

The comments made by some of them on here are laughable.

Antibles · 09/06/2020 14:37

FFS! Wilful stupidity.

Could someone on twitter please just post a correct Venn diagram? Two circles next to each other, not overlapping. One is for men, one is for women. Smaller circle inside the women's one for those who menstruate.

This is such a timewasting headfuck.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 09/06/2020 14:47

How many transmen is menstruation an issue for? If their gender dysphoria is so bad that female bodily functions are upsetting then surely they'd use any of the options available which halt menstruation? And, if they are on T then their periods will stop because they are effectively menopausal and we don't really know what will happen but presumably their risk of heart disease, osteoporosis and dementia will increase as per any female who loses oestrogen

What is the issue? Trans men don't need to bleed.

Is the problem actually that trans women WON'T have periods and anyone talking about biological functions which are unattainable if you are male is a bit upsetting for them?

NonnyMouse1337 · 09/06/2020 14:51

I sort of feel bad for her. How stupid can you be?? And to publicly tweet that? 🤯

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 09/06/2020 14:51

It's just like BrassEye. Remember that? They got lots of celebs and politicians to say the most ridiculous made up shit because they thought it would make them look good.

drspouse · 09/06/2020 15:07

It's OK, Twitter is all over it.

CaraDune · 09/06/2020 15:15

You've gotta give the poor deluded eejit credit for having done it on graph paper, with a compass, to make it look all properly scientific and all!

Mascotte · 09/06/2020 15:23

It's not just trans men who find their periods upsetting 😃 What a load of nonsense. (I nearly typed load of bollocks, but probably ill advised)

I love the way that women who don't menstruate take up most space, followed by menstruators, and then last of all women who menstruate.

MummBraTheEverLeaking · 09/06/2020 15:27

Oh for goodness sake, she actually says she's a woman not a menstruator. Does she not realise by some people's reckoning that makes her a massive terf?

So close and yet so far.

merrymouse · 09/06/2020 15:33

I'm a 34 year old woman and for most of my adult life have not menstruated due to a variety of contraception, pregnancy and breastfeeding.

All things that only affect women, and that can be used to oppress women, particularly if they want a career in politics. But according to Kirsty niche concerns that could happen to anyone. Not clear why she is talking about menstruation, which apparently doesn't affect her.

No explanation of why she identifies as female.

Dances · 09/06/2020 15:34

The SNP don't care about independence anymore. They just want to stay in power.

I think this is going to bite them in the arse at the next election. I am personally going to campaign against them. I am also an ex SNP member.

I now hate the SNP more than I hate the Tories

Mascotte · 09/06/2020 15:39

She does sound a total numpty.

MadameButterface · 09/06/2020 15:47

"How many transmen is menstruation an issue for? If their gender dysphoria is so bad that female bodily functions are upsetting then surely they'd use any of the options available which halt menstruation?"

well actually it is quite common, idk if you are aware of the massive number of pubescent girls coming out as trans. I am as my eldest is one of them. and we can talk about how wrong headed this is and how it's down to social contagion, and they'll grow out of it till the cows come home if you like, but the reality is this is hugely common, and yes, I have been at children's A&E with my kid over their mental health on and off since October, with no sniff of a camhs appointment in sight yet, and my experience is not hugely uncommon. the upshot is that in a world that seems to not give much of a shit about helping my kid with their mental health crisis, this is one thing that I/society at large can do to make their painful existence a bit easier at the minute.

and before everyone jumps on me calling me a bad mother and assuming I'm pumping my kid full of hormones and gleefully 'erasing women' and whatever the fuck else, you can all just pre-emptively go and get fucked ok, because a) no I am not actually and b) I am at my wits' end dealing with this and I am doing whatever the fuck I can to keep my kid feeling ok. I'm absolutely sick of seeing this sneering hostile bullshit everywhere I fucking turn. not all trans people are middle aged men wanking off in suspenders or trying to get their bollocks waxed ffs.

MadameButterface · 09/06/2020 15:48

and perhaps the fact that my kid is 13 answers the question of why they cannot use any of the options that halt menstruation, HTH

merrymouse · 09/06/2020 15:49

It's not that straightforward. SNP MP Joanna Cherry has done more than possibly any other MP to highlight the threat to women's rights, and at the last election the Labour Party candidate had to withdraw for a threatening tweet calling Cherry a Terf.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 09/06/2020 15:51

Dances, yes, you'd think any political party with such a beady eye on voting intentions as the SNP usually has would have long ago seen this for the vote-killing topic that it is.

I've never been an SNP member, but I've voted for them before. Never again. I'll spoil my vote, first. The arrogance and patronising misogyny of how they've handled this whole 'debate' has meant I can't even lend them my support on a temporary basis anymore.

OP posts:
ScrimpshawTheSecond · 09/06/2020 15:53

And how have the SNP repaid Cherry for her bravery, acuity and dedication? They've pulled up the drawbridge and thrown her to the wolves, to massacre a few metaphors. They should have been right behind her, at least giving her the honour or admitting a debate needed to be had. Instead, her own party members have campaigned to get her ousted! Unbelievable.

OP posts:
ScrimpshawTheSecond · 09/06/2020 15:55

MadameButterface I'm so very sorry. My heart really aches for the kids and families caught up in all this. You will likely find, if you were to look for it, plenty of support and compassion on Mumsnet. Wishing you and your daughter all the best, and I wholeheartedly agree that the state of mental health services right now is absolutely scandalous. Flowers

the reality is this is hugely common

Why are our daughters so unhappy with their bodies?

OP posts:
merrymouse · 09/06/2020 15:56

MadameButterface, there but for the grace of god go I, and I am not sneering.

However, is it more helpful when people insist that 'woman' means something other than humans who have female reproductive organs?

Isn't it better that 'woman' includes all females, not just women who identify with some non specific self image, that nobody will explain, but probably has something to do with being interested in make up and attracted to men?

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 09/06/2020 15:56
  • there is a board specifically for supporting parents of LGBT children, I think? Not sure where it lives, or I'd post a link.

Christ, how unbelievably thick is she? Just incredible that numpties like her manage to get elected.
