Independence looking less likely with every tweet.

I can't vote for them anymore. It's upsetting because I support independence but I just cannot in good conscience vote for a party that is so willing to erode women's rights.

CaraDune · 09/06/2020 20:11

This person you are calling a “deluded eejit”
is a member of parliament
This is someone people felt inspired confidence to put in charge of helping run the country
This is someone who is paid by the government from people’s taxes.

Yes, I did realise this (sadly). I was being sarcastic (damn you internet, for not conveying tone adequately).

And yes, it is frightening.

And depressing, because if Scotland ever got independence, I was going to take out dual nationality. But I'm not sure I could if this shit fest continues.

I do wonder why there isn't more campaigning and support for better and quicker health services for trans people. And actually better and quicker mental health support for young people in general. The waiting lists at CAMHS are a disgrace. It all seems to get lost in the battle over words and labels.

Absolutely. Our children are being failed horribly by the NHS's woeful provision of mental health support. Let alone the adults.

Yup, if the trans activists genuinely cared about trans people, this would have been the main area to campaign on.
Yet it's more important to force organisations and institutions to change words like women to be menstruators and demand that males can undress next to women and girls. Go figure. 😕

@SpartacusAutisticus

From what I've experienced and seen, kids who say they're trans get seen by CAMHS considerably quicker than kids who don't say they're trans.
I thought that CAMHS tended to quickly pass the children on towards Tavistock instead of taking time to really explore the underlying issues that are troubling them? I could be mistaken.

I hope the snp carry on peddling this crap. the more votes it loses them the better, as far as I’m concerned.

NonnyMouse1337 · 09/06/2020 21:35

Good point, SpartacusAutisticus.

Spartacus GPs can and do make direct referrals to GIDS without going via CAHMS. I tried to get an ASD referral via CAHMS but was completely ignored because gender issues were raised, with my GP who made a referral to Sandyford instead. It’s very hit or miss as to whether or not a GP will refer to CAHMS (and then in many cases, CAHMS will redirect to GIDS once gender issues are raised with them).

The SNP don't care about independence anymore. They just want to stay in power.
I now hate the SNP more than I hate the Tories

Yep. I hate the structure of the party it’s so fundamentally undemocratic & strips MSPs of a chance to honestly vote for the best for their constituents.

HairyPotter · 09/06/2020 22:06

I used to think she didn’t actually believe the TWAW mantra and was just toeing the party line. Now after reading that load of utter shite, I’m not so sure. She sounds unbelievably stupid to come out with TW are adult human females, how any sane person can say that is beyond me.

Melia100 · 09/06/2020 22:17

Having a trans ID'ed kid (I've had two because that's how contagious this dysphoria is) isn't a pass to suspend all thinking functions.

Transmen are part of the set, women. That's why they menstruate. Only women can menstruate, and they do so regardless of how they choose to present themselves socially.

It's actually doing a child no favours to collude with her about anti-reality statements. I think it deepens the dysphoria.

Be matter of fact. Your daughter can dress as she likes, wear her hair as she likes, call herself what she likes - but her sex is immutable, and she menstruates because she is female...males do not have a uterus, therefore, no males menstruate.

I agree with whomever mentioned emotional blackmail. Not that I think any feminists will fall for it, but it's not even helpful to the dysphoric child long term to fall for it. Put it this way, most children whose dysphoria persists into adulthood? You'd rather they grew up to be a Fionne, and not a reality denying numpty, right?

Anyway, it's hard to parent children and teens. Big kids, big problems, right? But the fact that it's hard - in all sorts of ways - is no reason to gaslight women.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 09/06/2020 22:21

"I am not a menstruator. I am a woman. I find it offensive to be defined by a biological function."

I agree. And no one is going to guilt trip me out of that position. No one here is responsible for other people's mental health, just like no one gives a fuck about mine.

NeurotrashWarrior · 09/06/2020 22:25

I've just read her tweets thinking "are you on glue?"

Confused doesn't even come close.

This written earlier in the year about the Labour Manifesto touches on this. Lachlan Stuart, the author, worked on the manifesto.

medium.com/@lachlanstuart/the-confessions-of-a-transphobe-b4942c06e6e4

It's a long read but the pertinent part is this

But it dismayed trans people, according to Heather’s account and the actions of pop-up people like Ellie-Mae and her ilk. It dismayed the pop up people and LGBT Labour because it was the removal of the established legal rights of women that interested them.

Nowhere, ever, have I seen any recognition from any of them of the astonishingly bold, tangible and very expensive commitment that we gave to improve the lives of trans people by ensuring adequate and much improved access to health care services.

It’s not because they didn’t know.

It’s because that’s not what they’re interested in.

I also think there's not much protest as people in general simply can't believe what's going on.

I was just reminding myself this is really happening and is not conspiracy theory. Angry
