The charity which buys menstruation products to refugee WOMEN has written an open letter to JKR telling her to read some munroe Bergdorf. And no I'm not joking. It's an absolutely dreadful embarrassing letter, with arguments you'd expect in a gcse essay.

Signed by a load of misogynists like jolyon Maughan and some some that should know better like Jack monroe and that stupid guilty feminist woman.

For shame.

Well it’s great that they are publicly identifying which side they are on so we can all avoid them and whatever they selling to women - yes XX chromosome women. And some day we can remind them all that they signed this and we can ask them how it felt to be so lacking in basic common sense.

EsmesRedPetticoat · 07/06/2020 22:55

Ugh I stopped following them on Instagram when they posted a navel gazey blog piece about how dreadful it is having to buy period products in pink packages when you don’t identify as a woman. It was the most ridiculous thing I had ever read!

LillianBland · 07/06/2020 22:55

to invite you in to an open-minded, justice-focused feminist space. We write this with the simple intention of promoting accountability and for the growth of you as an individual to do better*

Yup. An open-minded....space, except for any gender critical women, they must be held accountable and do better. Excuse me while I give my head a shake, so I can get my eyes back to the front of my head. I’m cringing for them. That’s the biggest load of crap I’ve read for a good while.

Sounds like bollocks. None of the products I buy are pink! Tampons in a blue box with green or orange details. Pads in blue or purple packaging. Yes they also do a variant in bright pink, but guess what, pink isn’t necessarily a girly colour! And at the moment I have a shed load of thick mattress type ones in black and red Kotex packaging. Any trans man who can’t find sanitary products in anything other than pink isn’t really looking hard enough!

CannonCaboodle · 07/06/2020 23:01

Such bullshit. The world has gone mad.

Lordfrontpaw · 07/06/2020 23:03

They are idiots. If they don’t know who they are selling to them they really shouldn’t be in business.

StrangeLookingParasite · 07/06/2020 23:04

Dear Bloody Good Period (and all those who sail in her),

Try not to be stupider than you look.

SLP.

BadgertheBodger · 07/06/2020 23:07

God that’s painful. These people, how the fuck do they manage to actually function in the real world? Imagine suppressing every “wrong” thought, every twinge of discomfort, every shred of evidence from your own eyes...all to appease the menz and those women who have decided they don’t want to be friends to other women because they prefer the menz’ approval.

MindTheMinotaur · 07/06/2020 23:11

'Open minded, justice focused space'. Yeah, sounds fun....

miri1985 · 07/06/2020 23:11

Was reading through the names and Liam Hackett who has an honorary doctorate is referring to himself as "Dr" , absolute cheek.

Cornana · 07/06/2020 23:14

“A small part do not identity as women or girls”

This is what I don’t understand- Why are we making massive changes and erasing legislation about sex for what they admit is a small part?

Heartlake · 07/06/2020 23:14

I got as far as 'cis white women' :-/

BaronessFloralBunting · 07/06/2020 23:15

Anyone who wants to approach a grown woman they disagree with and offer her a justice focused place for her growth and improvement deserves to be side-eyed as a painfully patronizing dick. So that'll be all the signatories then.

Clymene · 07/06/2020 23:16

What really, really fucks me off is that non binary and queer and all the other identities are privileged bollocks. When you can't afford to eat or you're traumatised from escaping from an oppressive regime, worrying about your pronouns is going to be pretty low down on your priorities.

And yet that's what a charity which is supposed to be about those very women and girls is spending its energy doing. It makes me incredibly angry

What did JKR actually say? I don't get Twitter so missed out on this

aliasundercover · 07/06/2020 23:33

... and yes, the replies to the BGP tweet are heart-warming.

Do you think any of them will read the replies and think 'hang on...'?

It's a parody, surely. Nobody could write this with a straight face.

The fact of the matter is that yes, when we as a society were woefully uneducated, there used to be a word for people who menstruate, and that word was. “women”.

And this:

Menstruation does not maketh a woman, and to imply so, not only erases the experience of trans women, but also of cis women who do not menstruate.

How stupid do you have to be not to understand that 'All people who menstruate are women' doesn't mean the same as 'All women menstruate'?

I was shouted at on Reddit once when I posted about women menstruating in refugee camps, and how they needed sanitary protection, soap and water, toilets, and clean clothes. Various men angrily demanded didn't I think refugee women had more important things to worry about. Turns out they were probably right.

Jintyfer · 08/06/2020 00:07

"Female Reproductive Population". Urrgh!! 🤬
