I don’t know who most of those blue tick people are. Does that mean they’re meant to be important or something? Just means they’re well known and abusive.

For me the best thing about JK Rowling of all people speaking up like this is that it will bring the attention of a lot of previously unaware parents of young children to the problems.
And as much as I hate the way she's getting attacked, it's precisely the nature and tone of the attacks that will show those parents how real and immediate the problems are.

My Twitter is linked to everything in my life, and I'm genuinely worried to like the tweet (like so many others I follow) but I just needed to say thankyou Jo - and all you amazing women here, for standing up for us.

Time to point out the misogyny.

I came here this morning knowing there's be this wonderful thread. Because I was on Facebook and something has happened... see, I have a whole host of very transfriendly friends. Many of them are people in the book business, some fairly successful writers themselves (but still not fit to tie JK's shoelaces, success-wise). Now and then they say something very supportive of trans and very virtue-signalling.
But they have never ever mentioned JK before; not when she first had her "middle-aged moment", not in the Maya kerfuffle. It's been as if they're holding their breath wishing her to go away...

But now they're out in full force. One of them posted: JKR, a cis het white billionaire, derailing the BLM conversation with her anti trans shitstorm on Twitter is proof we're not escaping 2020 any time soon.

And the knives are out! Oh, am I going to enjoy Facebook in the coming days, weeks!

Sadly, I'm not yet in the position (or brave enough) to show my true colours. But it's going to be a joy to behold.

I do know two other minor novelists who are open about being GC. But their accounts are private. One of them has just declared her everlasting love for JK, and because her account is private, I am openly GC, in my own real name, there.

@ofwarren I was wondering about the videos as well. Apparently showing film of young girls pretending to sing, and dancing (not very well) in .a hypersexualised manner makes some kind of 'point'. Does anyone here know why?
Looking through all the Twitter hysteria it is apparent how very childish this all is (revelation!) They are whiny about how JK has 'ruined their childhood', and destroyed their precious fandom - I've noticed this before, an obsessive clinging to certain things - books, tv series (Dr Who etc) and conviction that these things somehow make you special, and give special insights not granted to the unbelievers.
Well, I like HP, and Dr Who but I don't see them as some sort of sacred text, because I am neither a fundamentalist nor a perpetual adolescent.

Lam, they're using BLM for their own agenda. That's appalling.

I have to say, a friend read "why I'm no longer talking to white people about race" and although she's more on the terf side, she did say "we need to listen to marginalised groups." And saw a comparison. People need it explicitly pointing out; she didn't see that for women it's oppression based on biology. Though she understands that. She saw the "marginalised" bit and sees that being a top trump.

I also think that she hasn't experienced sexism as much as some of us as she did go to an all girls school. Her sil, full in TWAW (sadly as I really like her) had a big chat to her about recognising privilege a long time ago. There's a fuck ton of confusion out there.

It makes me laugh. Jo posted calm, measured factually correct and polite tweets and the twits are foaming at the mouth with rage and hyperbolic bullshit.

Everyone one of those blue ticks retweeted or called her vile names have showed that a) they are an virtue signalling idiot b) they are are paying superficial attention to the matter at hand c) that they actually hate women or have a deep self hatred and c) that they are bullies and d) did I mention they were idiots?

It's disgusting that they spit out the t@rf, that they don't see us as humans. These are the same people who post about being kind. Yet they can not afford any compassion or respect to women, men, trans people who know that you can not change sex. They are hypocrites. It's how I know that they don't truly care about the message they give out. They don't care that BLM, nor about climate change or corona deaths - I could go on. It's all about image to them and how they look. It's very 'ME ME ME.'

As for the Wokes - they have a psychological need to bully and harass someone while telling themselves that they are doing the right thing. It makes them feel better about themselves. We, the GC, are the perfect target. Again I don't believe they actually care about the causes that they post about. It's all about how they want to be seen. The wider public has been largely 'live and let live.' And 'let them get on with it' towards them. Yet the more vicious the woke folk the more people's eyes are opened. Goodwill only extends so far. They undermine what they claim to believe in by acting like spoilt brats. They do not seem to realise by acting the way they do, they are rapidly loosing any support and good will they had.

It'll get to a point where it will all just break.

When this is over and these numpties are silent or posting 'I'm a proud feminist' blah blah - I hope we remind them of what they did or didn't do.
They are bullies, cowards and hypocrites.
