women who don't menstruate
Irrelevant. Not all women menstruate, but anyone who does menstruate is a woman.

Wildlingyoumakemyheartsing · 06/06/2020 23:20

I couldn't love her more right now.Smile

Langbannedforsafeguardingkids · 06/06/2020 23:20

The best thing I think about JKR speaking up, and the frothing hate that her entirely reasonable statements are met with, is that it will open the eyes of so many normal people who just thought this was a fringe issue that didn't affect them and so didn't know much about it.

Given the number of them that have daughters / wives / sisters I doubt they'll be convinced by the TRA views. As soon as you start to really scrutinise their arguments it all falls apart.

NotAssigned · 06/06/2020 23:21

Yay! Fantastic. Couldn't wish for anyone better to join the cause. She may well embolden other high profile women to throw caution to the wind too.

No going back now.

We all knew it was never a middle aged moment.

BaronessFloralBunting · 06/06/2020 23:23

I'm sitting here, feeling deliciously smug, because honestly, I so called this. She followed Magdalen, liked some tweets and copped shit for it and then kept her head down, and we were all wracking our brains as to what was going on, had she been scared off, etc.
And I said, I wonder if she is biding her time, and she's going to pick her moment, and come out like Eowyn, slaying the WitchKing and shouting 'I am no man!'?

And here she is, and it's like a real life fantasy movie finale, and I'm on the edge of my seat.

Frozenveggista · 06/06/2020 23:24

Thank you JK Rowling for having the stomach to speak simple facts.

Fantasisa · 06/06/2020 23:25

Just planning what I could write a series of successful novels about so I can afford to retweet her.

Langbannedforsafeguardingkids · 06/06/2020 23:26

Woman: female sex of human species who either menstruate, have menstruated, will menstruate or would normally (according to their female biology) have menstruated but did not due to illness/medical condition/medication/surgery.

It's not rocket science. Anyone who uses women who don't menstruate as a gotcha is an idiot.

thirdfiddle · 06/06/2020 23:28

All those people in the comments saying "no-one is erasing sex" while simultaneously calling Rowling a T* for saying it exists. No-one is erasing sex, you're just a bigot if you mention it. No-one is erasing sex, they're just claiming sex is a spectrum. No-one is erasing sex, sex is "assigned at birth".
What goes on in their minds. It's baffling.

fluffygreenmonsterhoody · 06/06/2020 23:28

Wow.

Jintyfer · 06/06/2020 23:28

@deltoids I'm with you there! My heart is Racing, this is such an awesome development. I think because of all the shit she's had already, there's no going back now, she's just committing to her position. She's bloody brilliant. 💪

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 06/06/2020 23:28

I’ve spent much of the last three years reading books, blogs and scientific papers by trans people, medics and gender specialists. I know exactly what the distinction is. Never assume that because someone thinks differently, they have no knowledge.

She took the time to do the research necessary to know of what she speaks. Unlike numerous councils, businesses, and MPs.

DailyFailstinks · 06/06/2020 23:31

Yes JK! Love her.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 06/06/2020 23:32

Is it on the back of Jacinda Arden saying "people who menstruate"?

She did, to be bari, also say "women and girls" but, you know...

ShiveringCoyote · 06/06/2020 23:32

I wonder if the book folk who so cowardly bowed to the bullies and removed their association with MN be so quick to remove JKR from their catalogue ?

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 06/06/2020 23:33

Yes!!!!!! punches air

Langbannedforsafeguardingkids · 06/06/2020 23:37

I really really object to "People who menstruate" - it is so dehumanising somehow. I am really very offended by it. It might even be literal violence against me (my daughters, my mother etc).

Funny how we're supposed to use the wrong sex pronouns for people who want it that way but when a woman is opposed to 'people who menstruate' and would prefer to be called women they are in the wrong.

Thisismytimetoshine · 06/06/2020 23:38

She did, to be bari, also say "women and girls" but, you know...
She said "Girls, Women, and people". In an article about menstruation.

Enough of the nonsense already.

Enderthedragon · 06/06/2020 23:39

Fuck me, she's gone all in.

Yaaaaaassss Joanne!

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 06/06/2020 23:40

I'm sitting up waiting for her next tweet with the same excitement I used to stay up and finish the chapter of her latest HP novel 20 years ago.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 06/06/2020 23:41

Shock at some of the responses. The TRAs aren't doing themselves any favours at all.

ChattyLion · 06/06/2020 23:41

It isn’t hate to speak the truth

Flowers thank you

BaronessFloralBunting · 06/06/2020 23:42

Jesus, there are transflagged avatar'd fuckwits on one of those tweet threads calling Jana Cornel the most despicable things and saying she is lying that Morgane Oger said she was transphobic for talking about FGM. Despite people linking to the evidence.

JKR, I am so glad to see you have stepped up. I've never been surer that these people who claim all the fluffy bunny sparkly love are full of steaming shit.

I'm not as eloquent as Rowling, obviously.
