Seriously @datun ? "aligning themselves with men who say they want punch, rape and kill women for saying sex is fucking real." That's what you think trans women are? Have you met any? No doubt you will supply me now with an example of a trans woman who has said some of those things but you must know that does not represent the whole demographic, just as a cis gendered criminal does not represent all cis gendered people. So that is actually a really hateful and transphobic thing to say.

ThinEndoftheWedge · 08/06/2020 19:54

Could the new posters confirm as to whether they are campaigning for ‘men’ to be only called ‘ejactulators’ or ‘people who ejaculate’?

Chocolate50 · 08/06/2020 19:55

Why does jk rowling feel she has to make claims that gender is sex? From what I read she is not drawing on the distinction between the two. Gender can, in these modern times, be chosen, of course it can.
Sexuality is nothing to do with it.
And periods, how does that equal being a woman? I've never once said 'well I know I'm a woman because I have periods'.

She's clearly got issues with trans people & it's obvious that she does, doesn't wash to say 'i have a trans friend' so fucking what? She's got fucking issues & if she's going to put herself out there like the attention seeker that she is, she deserves to be ripped apart.
Also her literature is poorly written & I've never once managed to sit through one of her films without falling asleep. It's boring.

God, I hope Jo never reads this damning indictment. She'll be very upset.

Sorry, I'm a bit confused. Are you not actually reading what people are tweeting at JK Rowling? Or any woman who wants to preserve their boundaries? The receipts are never ending.

This is a small sample from an article today.

"It isn't hate to speak the truth." Yes. love requires truth. Thank you JK. Rowling. Please continue to speak out in love.

How does menstruating equal being a man?

She didn't

From what I read she is not drawing on the distinction between the two.

She is talking about one, she used the word sex.

Gender can, in these modern times, be chosen, of course it can.

So what?

Sexuality is nothing to do with it.

Nobody said it did and we're not talking about sexuality, we are talking about the two physical sex classes.

Datun · 08/06/2020 20:01

And periods, how does that equal being a woman? I've never once said 'well I know I'm a woman because I have periods'.

Haven't you? You've never bemoaned period pains, the price of tampax, PMT?

And speculated on what it's like not to have that, if you're a man?

Aesopfable · 08/06/2020 20:01

Grin I am sure she will be devastated by your critique as she watches the money roll in from her poor writing and boring films

Dances · 08/06/2020 20:01

Only women have periods. What of manner of shite are you talking?

merrymouse · 08/06/2020 20:02

Truth fairy

Yes I read the thread thanks, I found it interesting to read another viewpoint, as I said.

So why are you on one hand referencing a thread that claims that sex categories were imposed by colonialists, and on the other hand claiming that TRAs believe that those categories exist. You sound confused.

Campervan69 · 08/06/2020 20:02

*EmpressLangClegInChair

Is red velvet cake on offer?*

Fucking hell! Talk about insensitive.

What was it that Jameela woman said? "Open mouth. Stuff cake where sun don't shine"? Something like that.

AyeRobot · 08/06/2020 20:02

If people want to start formally organising society based on gender identity, then building a consensus would be a great place to start. Not a wholesale attempt at taking over the previous organisation of crucial parts of society based on sex. It's like deciding that penne pasta and jenga blocks (my poker chips of choice) are the new currency and being surprised and outraged at the World when you can't spend them down the Co-op.

Campervan69 · 08/06/2020 20:03

Chocolate50 I think she will have received the money from you going to her films whether or not you manage to stay awake throughout them. But good try.

truthfairy · 08/06/2020 20:04

Sorry you are confused @datum Let me spell it out more clearly. Suggesting that somebody who supports trans women is "aligning themselves with men who say they want punch, rape and kill women for saying sex is fucking real." on the basis of some tweets you have read is hateful and trans phobic. For starters you are deliberately misgendering transwomen. Hope that clears it up for you.

Lamahaha · 08/06/2020 20:04

Mumsnet isn't Twitter.

Needs repeating for the benefit of all the newcomers.
We are used to nuanced discussion here, questions being answered, statements underpinned by evidence, opinions supported by facts. Longer posts are welcomed, and read.

yes, they are talking about gender and pretending that sex is a spectrum/irrelevant/overridden by gender.

This. It is the trans ideologists who are trying to replace the word "sex" with the word "gender". It's everywhere you look, on every form you have to fill out.
And then they say that MNers are the one who don't understand the difference. Sounds like stealthy indoctrination to me.

I don't hate anyone, but I will not lie or have language that belies my eyes forced upon me.

I know!

Sold 400 millions books, millions and millions Of dollars made on the movies, christ alone knows how much on merch

But it was such a damning indictment that she’ll be crushed

I think I see you disappearing up jk Rowling's arsehole

Aesopfable · 08/06/2020 20:06

Chocolate50
A Fox one day spied a beautiful bunch of ripe grapes hanging from a vine trained along the branches of a tree. The grapes seemed ready to burst with juice, and the Fox's mouth watered as he gazed longingly at them.

The bunch hung from a high branch, and the Fox had to jump for it. The first time he jumped he missed it by a long way. So he walked off a short distance and took a running leap at it, only to fall short once more. Again and again he tried, but in vain.

Now he sat down and looked at the grapes in disgust.

"What a fool I am," he said. "Here I am wearing myself out to get a bunch of sour grapes that are not worth gaping for."

And off he walked very, very scornfully.

There are many who pretend to despise and belittle that which is beyond their reach.

FlamingoAndJohn · 08/06/2020 20:07

And periods, how does that equal being a woman? I've never once said 'well I know I'm a woman because I have periods'

Well it used to be common to say to a girl who had started her periods ‘you are a woman now’. In some cultures starting your periods means you are now treated as a woman, for example wearing a headscarf in Islam. So yes, having periods does equal being a woman for many woman across the world.

Thisismytimetoshine · 08/06/2020 20:07

Chocolate50 · 08/06/2020 20:08

Well.. you know how children can be easily led... In the literary sense such as these fuck awful books. One day, when you grow up maybe you'll start reading grown up books

Floisme · 08/06/2020 20:09

How do periods equal being a woman? Confused
If you had a son and he started bleeding from his genitals, would you:
a) Show him how to use a sanitary towel?
Or
b) Call an ambulance?
