@TehBewilderness

Applying the divide and conquer strategy to women by dividing us into body parts and bodily functions is an ancient strategy. There are dozens of dystopian novels that include a variation of this well worn trope. Funny how so many people do not seem to recognize it when it is right in front of their face. On the internet and the streets of the US capitol right now.
This is why women, particularly older women, gathering together and talking is something that has to be shut down, right now.

Attack the advertisers, attack the supporters, attacked the HQ.

Mumsnet, the biggest gathering of women, including older women, in history, must be shut down.

Jane Austen. I wonder if the very woke readers feel sad that none of the Bennett girls had a manly brain. If only one had identified as a man they could have solved that pesky inheritance problem.

Blackdoggotmytonguestill · 07/06/2020 19:10

@TheProdigalKittensReturn

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a married man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a transition? Doesn't really roll off the tongue, I feel.
Weeping with laughter here. And ‘Reader, I blocked him.’

Thank you. You’ve restored my faith. Grin

Well, except they couldn't, could they, cos isn't that sort of 'women who are actually men being able to inherit titles 'n' shit' one of the exceptions in the GRA?
Lamahaha · 07/06/2020 19:13

Not to mention those poor sisters in Sense and Sensibility.

Poor Eleanor was distraught. And Marianne. All finally saved from penury and destitution by penis-havers. They should really have identified as males.

Lamahaha · 07/06/2020 19:13

^ and their mother.

Jonathon Ross has just tweeted in support of JKR.

chunkyrun · 07/06/2020 19:14

I hope to see more following suit

Ooops. I forgot about that.

DryHeave · 07/06/2020 19:15

Every square is a rectangle, but not every rectangle is a square.

FannyCann · 07/06/2020 19:22

I have often wondered about the time JK "liked" something that didn't pass muster and her PR people or whoever dismissed it as a middle aged moment. I'd have been fuming with them if that was me.
I get the feeling she has been biding her time but I hope whoever made that comment suffered.

TheCraicDealer · 07/06/2020 19:26

Is it Drunk Austen? I've followed that page for ages. I have no idea why the woman who runs it thinks it's an appropriate place to promote her brand of identity politics. Frankly I don't think JA would have any time for their bullshit. She and her female contemporaries knew what a woman was without double checking with a man in a dress first.

"Men have had every advantage of us in telling their own story. Education has been theirs in so much higher a degree; the pen has been in their hands."

Says it all.

Datun · 07/06/2020 19:32

That's excellent stella47.

It's fricking slow though, to my mind. And I will absolutely remember, as will every other woman, which men were too fucking chickenshit or, let's face it, sexist bastards, to stand with women.

Gone are the days when they could hide behind ignorance. It's here, it's now, it's actually yesterday.

They're almost too late.

Helmetbymidnight · 07/06/2020 19:35

jolyon is still going on- what an utter twat.

WrathFaeKlopp · 07/06/2020 19:42

From The Amazon uk website:
Ban this Filth, letters from the Mary whitehouse archive by Ben Thompson.

There is a lengthy review on this book that caught my eye..

Mrs KJ Williams:.. Everyone from Jeremy Paxman to Mumsnet moderators has been influenced by her...

Really??
Hahahaha

So there you have it ladies, MN mods have been influenced by Paxman and Mary Whitehouse. Grin

I suspect Mrs KJ Williams may not be female.

Fanthorpe · 07/06/2020 19:42

Anything from Caitlin Moran yet? No?

BadgertheBodger · 07/06/2020 19:43

Have deleted Clue and emailed. They can FOTTFSOF. As can Jolyon “Claire’s Kimono” Maugham.

TerribleCustomerCervix · 07/06/2020 19:44

PenguindreamsofDraco, can you share the email address you used to send your note of support?

I’d love to do the same.

WrathFaeKlopp · 07/06/2020 19:47

Oops wrong thread.

Oxyiz · 07/06/2020 19:51

Emma Watson's silence is interesting. Her supporters are tweeting at her to get her to speak up. I wonder if her agents have stopped her saying anything, or if she's quietly changed her mind on some things. Or if she's just decided that one cause is enough right now.

WrathFaeKlopp · 07/06/2020 19:53

I predict there will be no tweets from Emma Watson.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 07/06/2020 19:56

JKR's tweet has gone from 142k 'likes' to 58k. How very strange, Twitter.

Lamahaha · 07/06/2020 19:57

The poor thing must be sooooooo conflicted. Extreme wokeness vs loyalty and knowing JKR as a fine person.

Oxyiz · 07/06/2020 19:57

Jeez that's creepy.

What else do they manipulate in plain sight I wonder?

Lamahaha · 07/06/2020 19:58
