@crumpet

Interesting to see that those who say she shouldn’t be distracting from BLM have no issue with that fact Pride mo th hasn’t been postponed
🤔 It’s almost like logic doesn’t enter into it...
Helmetbymidnight · 07/06/2020 10:39

Jolyon has just retweeted this woman, an academic, saying this:
What is wrong with people? Transwomen are women. Transmen are men. Mind your own business and leave them alone.

Someone asks her:
Do you think transwomen should be able to compete against other women at sport?

Her answer:
I really don’t care

Fucking...fucking...unbelievable. And she really thinks she is doing a good thing...FFS

littlbrowndog · 07/06/2020 10:42

But I don’t even know why the word menstruate is used.

Everyone I know just say they have got their period

I guess most people rember the word menstruate from school maybe but I would never say I am menstruating

Yorkshirelass04 · 07/06/2020 10:48

I am a regular twitter user and literally my whole timeline is full of people slating her and posting about trans rights.

I feel I am in the minority in agreeing with her. Like if you question the trans agenda you should feel ashamed... I felt that way about questioning the uk riots this week as well.

TalkingtoLangClegintheDark · 07/06/2020 10:48

Mummy has told them off. And they've just realised she's actually a person in her own right, and not just Bed Time Story Lady.

A highly successful author states rational and unambiguous facts and supports women maintaining the law, and it provokes the biggest tantrum of all time.

😂😂😂 Datun, spot on except I would argue that they can’t actually realise she is a person in her own right. This is exactly what they can’t comprehend, in true narcissist fashion, hence the rage. Narcissists don’t really get the concept of Other People. Only me me me. Narcissistic illusion crashes into reality. Ouch.

Anyway. Back to the point and HOORAY FOR JK!!

Sexnotgender · 07/06/2020 10:49

Fucking LOVE JK. She’s been quietly reading up and has come absolutely storming in and isn’t going to back down now.

I want to be a fly on the wall in TRA HQ right now. The impotent rage will be a sight to behold. A strong, intelligent, amazing woman they can’t bully. Fucking yes!!

littlbrowndog · 07/06/2020 10:50

‘Feminazi’, ‘TERF’, ‘bitch’, ‘witch’.
Times change. Woman-hate is eternal.

From jk herself on her twitter feed

merrymouse · 07/06/2020 10:54

The irony is that many of the people insisting that 'woman' is a vague term that could apply to anyone will also claim to understand why 'all lives matter' silences discussion of specific racial injustices.

Yorkshirelass04 · 07/06/2020 10:54

@merrymouse yes!!!! That's it!!!!

Becles · 07/06/2020 10:57

I'm so happy

Igmum · 07/06/2020 10:58

❤️ JKR

NeurotrashWarrior · 07/06/2020 11:02

Yes you're right Merry. I'm trying not to make those analogies as I don't think it's appropriate in many situations; in that case it is.

DancelikeEmmaGoldman · 07/06/2020 11:05

Also Jolyon Maugham is a sexist, sanctimonious dick.

Eh. I imagine about now JKR is grateful she’s not a fox.

Redshoeblueshoe · 07/06/2020 11:07

JKR ♥️

BlazeAway · 07/06/2020 11:07

I'm shocked at some of the comments.

There's somebody trying to argue that 'sex' in homosexual doesn't refer to "sex as in binaries" but sex as in having sex. I know not everybody is interested in etymology, but really?!

Datun · 07/06/2020 11:11

But WHY CAN’T WE MAKE HER DO WHAT WE WANT??? Don’t we actually control the universe and reality??? I DON’T UNDERSTAAAAANNNNNDDD

🤣 that made me laugh out loud. Brilliant. And so accurate.

And you're quite right, they haven't realised she is a real person and not just a service human. Which I knew but I suddenly lost the will to analyse further 😁

Oxyiz · 07/06/2020 11:12

It must be a really baffling moment when someone suddenly doesn't react the way you've programmed everyone around you to.

AuntieRae · 07/06/2020 11:16

Well, Monica Lennon, an MSP who I have a lot of respect for has tweeted against JK. I have a response ready to tweet but confess I am nervous about the potential replies - even tho' I don't have many followers. But I think this might as well be the hill I am prepared to die on.

MarDhea · 07/06/2020 11:16

I notice the Twitter curated moment is for once not all one-sideD TRA invective: though it includes some tweets crying transphobia, it actually ends with JKR's reasonable and articulate tweets saying it's nonsense. This is the first time I've seen a Twitter moment provide a gender-critical response to accusations of transphobia. All the previous JKR Twitter moments about her trans views included no defence whatsoever.

Could it possibly be that Twitter are smelling a shift in opinion and are no longer content to provide only TRAs with a platform? 🤞

Yep. I think this could actually end up being a massive misfire, for someone with a profile as huge as JKR to speak out in such strong terms. I think she’s very brave to have done it but I think the blowback will be huge, and will galvanise TRAs and woke allies to fight harder and dirtier. The comments on the Daily Mail article do not fill me with me with hope - lots of “she’s entitled to an opinion” which is a long way from accepting that what she is saying is actually fact-based.

I think things are going to get very, very ugly and the GC community will come out the worse off. Have had my finger hovering over the deactivate Twitter button this morning, because I’m not sure I can bear to see it play out the way I think it will.

Clymene · 07/06/2020 11:20

Black lives matter unless they're the lives of black women asserting their right to single sexual spaces then they don't matter.

As an aside, I just noticed on my iPad that if I start to type women immediately after black as I did in my first sentence, it doesn't suggest women as the word I want to type.

stella47 · 07/06/2020 11:22

Can anyone suggest a succinct reply to (famous) people that I would expect to understand, but don't? I'm not articulate enough. E.g. Damian Barr and Shappi Korsandi.

RoyalCorgi · 07/06/2020 11:23

She does things right, doesn't she.

She is a good person. She uses her money to make the world a better place. She uses her platform to speak up for what's right.

No wonder they hate her.

stella47 · 07/06/2020 11:23

Khorsandi, sorry.

Helmetbymidnight · 07/06/2020 11:23

dont try damian barr- hes well down the rabbit hole i think!
