Ha I could believe AnyFucker Grin

Oxyiz · 07/06/2020 09:35

Thanks, that's great, I'd never heard of Lumos.

least one student will say "Boys can have periods too".

Jesus no! Really?!

NeurotrashWarrior · 07/06/2020 09:37

Intersex is entirely different.

NeurotrashWarrior · 07/06/2020 09:37

I've occasionally suspected Mockers

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 07/06/2020 09:38

@oxiyx Lumos is JKs charity working with orphanages. The proceeds of some of her books go directly there and I believe she (and some others) cover any overheads so that donated money can be used for what it was donated for instead of paying wages of charity bigwigs.

Oxyiz · 07/06/2020 09:38

Biology is not that frickin complicated. We've managed to reproduce somehow over millenia. (She says, somewhat ironically as an infertile woman.)

But that's not the point of this thread of course.

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 07/06/2020 09:39

Intersex is nothing, nothing to do with trans. Intersex people and organisations have repeatedly asked not to be dragged into the trans argument.

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 07/06/2020 09:41

@NeurotrashWarrior yes, in which case I have to go into how gender is made up and we can wear whatever clothes we like and cut or grow our hair but sex is in our DNA and can't be changed and only females have periods.

NeurotrashWarrior · 07/06/2020 09:46

I bet you now have to include an "extra" lesson in your long term plans in order to deal with that without actually writing it on the plans!

"LO: to address misunderstandings embed knowledge and understanding of human sexual dimorphism..."

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 07/06/2020 09:54

I haven't had to deliver the new PSHE curriculum yet. I'm not sure what I'm going to do when told to as I know there are sections on being trans in it guess I'll have to read it and possibly stick my head above the parapet.

Datun · 07/06/2020 09:55

The reaction of the ‘she ruined my childhood!’ crowd is interesting - possessive of the source material and disconnected from reality (‘we can just pretend she didn’t write them!’)

This.

Mummy has told them off. And they've just realised she's actually a person in her own right, and not just Bed Time Story Lady.

A highly successful author states rational and unambiguous facts and supports women maintaining the law, and it provokes the biggest tantrum of all time.

Datun · 07/06/2020 09:56

What will happen when she posts the photos of her out on the razz with Fionne!

Datun · 07/06/2020 09:58

The proceeds of some of her books go directly there and I believe she (and some others) cover any overheads so that donated money can be used for what it was donated for instead of paying wages of charity bigwigs.

I didn't know any of this.

She does things right, doesn't she.

BringbackLang · 07/06/2020 09:58

I think we can have a very good guess what they will say, Datun, it won't be pleasant but I doubt JK or Fionne will care and I think that's gloriousGrin

Shedbuilder · 07/06/2020 10:02

Another thank you from me and my partner, JKR. We're no longer on Twitter but wish we were Abel to support you there.

teawamutu · 07/06/2020 10:04

She's lancing the boil and bringing all the crazy gushing out into full view. What a fucking shero.

I thought I couldn't love her more, but dammit she keeps getting better.

teawamutu · 07/06/2020 10:05

Also Jolyon Maugham is a sexist, sanctimonious dick.

I know we all know that, but I feel better for saying it.

Dances · 07/06/2020 10:07

This IS stunning and brave

NotTerfNorCis · 07/06/2020 10:08

She's amazing.

merrymouse · 07/06/2020 10:10

Intersex people can menustrate without actually being female. Biology is complicated

Not that complicated. I don't know which specific syndrome (perhaps you could clarify) you are talking about, but 'intersex' is a term that covers a huge range of disorders of sexual development.

bellinisurge · 07/06/2020 10:10

I just read it. Thank you JK Rowling for me and for my daughter. I'm too scared to say it in real life.

Datun · 07/06/2020 10:12

I'm not on twitter but if the heart indicates likes, and the speech bubble indicates comments, isn't that telling her there are far more people who like her tweet than have even commented on it?

NeurotrashWarrior · 07/06/2020 10:14

I really hope some of this is in response to the Scottish definition of woman.

If we cannot define woman in law how can we define women's rights?
