Trans community is “beyond terrified that our basic rights are about to be removed” the ‘Dear Liz’ campaign says

Couldn't resist posting this quote from a PN article. As usual the total purple prose listing the anguish of trans peope because of a factual statement by Liz Truss is beyond parody.

" ... This week, Truss was slammed for comments about the “protection of single-sex spaces for women and girls”, which she said she would say more about when she publishes the government’s plans for GRA reform this summer.

Single-sex spaces are protected under the Equality Act 2010, and the Tories were clear when they set out plans for GRA reform in 2018 that they were “not proposing any amendments to the Equality Act 2010″.

This potential meddling with trans people’s ability to use the single-sex spaces that correspond with their gender identity has meant the trans community is “beyond terrified that our basic rights are about to be removed”, the ‘Dear Liz’ campaign says. ... "

So effectively they are saying they know that the right to single sex services means that trans do not qualify.

Although as we know so many organisation have given in to trans activism to claim that it does.

So it seems a straight forward statement by Liz Truss plus the ongoing challenges from Baroness Nicholson on the way the EA has been misrepresented has got them all rattled.

But sad to say (though no surprise) Labour is saying the EA should be changed to make gender identity the same as sex:

" ... And Labour’s shadow minister for women and equalities, Marsha de Cordova, told PinkNews that the government “must protect the rights of the trans community in its response to its consultation on the Gender Recognition Act”.

“It is important that this government does not interfere with protections under the Equality Act, which ensure that trans people are not wrongfully excluded from single-sex spaces,” Cordova said. ... "

AFTH is government funded btw.

They are funding this lunacy.

DickKerrLadies · 23/05/2020 14:42

They are funding this lunacy.

It's worse than that - we are funding this lunacy.

Datun · 23/05/2020 14:56

I didn't know the government funded them. Fucking hell.

It is utter insanity.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 23/05/2020 14:57

Encroyable. I am utterly jaw-drop speechless.

No wonder people just fail to believe this shit is actually real and in earnest.

Deluded, aggressive males are being asked, by the government, for their thoughts & opinions on women's rights? And paid by the government to produce this unhinged nonsense. I cannot imagine anyone making a parody to even come close to the absurdity of this.

This is not a drill, as they say.

OldCrone · 23/05/2020 15:13

Do you have a link for this? I've had a quick search and I can't find anything to confirm this.

Michelleoftheresistance · 23/05/2020 15:34

No direct link but I remember the threads at the time Maria was thumped and that tweet was under discussion, they may be worth searching. If I'm wrong I'll apologise but I'm sure the discovery at the time was that it was a govt funded group.

Accounts at Companies' House here:

Frustratingly, I've been unable to open pdfs from Companies House for months, not sure why, so I can't check them.

They might have other parts that are charitable organisations, too, perhaps? Not found them on the CC website so far, though.

OldCrone · 23/05/2020 16:02

Thanks Michelle.

From the Times:
A taxpayer-funded transgender lobby group that has trained hundreds of NHS staff

So they are presumably taxpayer funded because the NHS pays them for this training. But they have only filed 'micro accounts' each year with a few hundred pounds in the company funds, and no money going in and out.

Scrimpshaw I've no problem opening PDFs, but these make very quick reading. They're "micro-company accounts" and only list asssets and liablilities, with nothing about where money is coming from or how its being spent. The latest accounts were filed 31 May 2019 and list the enormous sum of £327.00 for both assets and liabilities. The accounts for earlier years (back to 2015) list similar amounts. So, if they're accurate, it doesn't look like ATH were getting any grants from anybody, including the government.
It confims my impression that the organisation is basically one person and a couple of their mates. So why the hell were they invited to talk to the commitee?

truthisarevolutionaryact · 23/05/2020 19:37

The gravy train is exceptionally lucrative - not just for the batshit AFTH but for organisations like the Proud Trust (the one that's promoting that game for adults to play with 13 year olds about inserting objects into every body orifice) are funded very lucratively by all sorts of local and national government organisations including the Lottery, the Department for Communities and Local Government, EHRC, the Arts Council, and Manchester and other local councils.

I think we'd find that many ? most? lobby groups undermining the safeguarding of children and removing rights from women are funded by us - the tax payers. Confused

Ereshkigalangcleg · 23/05/2020 20:24

Weren't AFTH founded by Jess Bradley and Jess Bradley's wife?

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 23/05/2020 20:40

Thanks, Grumpy. Indeed, how does such an apparently ridiculous 'company' get to wield such clout? Train the NHS?!

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 23/05/2020 20:45

Yes, Jess Bradley founder and director of AFTH, also of TELI.

Dances · 23/05/2020 21:04

Jess Bradley's wife? Who is she?

And where is the lovely Jess these days? Did the NUS ever complete an investigation?

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 23/05/2020 23:01

Voila, Dances.

www.sarahmcculloch.com/statement-jess-bradley/

The NUS, afair, closed Jess's post down and quietly forgot about the whole affair.

Datun · 24/05/2020 00:03

Honestly. It does my head in. Jane Fae was also consulted on that report, someone who advocates for extreme pornography.

Jess Bradley got their penis out in public and encouraged boys to do the same, if I recall correctly? And they want to operate on each other and release all trans prisoners. Plus they beat up an old lady.

And these are people the government consulted.

Not forgetting that Maria Miller said the only objections were from women 'purporting to be feminists'.

My dog could do a better job.

ScapaFlo · 24/05/2020 00:27

Mine too Datun. And I don't even have a dog Confused
