Trans community is “beyond terrified that our basic rights are about to be removed” the ‘Dear Liz’ campaign says

Couldn't resist posting this quote from a PN article. As usual the total purple prose listing the anguish of trans peope because of a factual statement by Liz Truss is beyond parody.

" ... This week, Truss was slammed for comments about the “protection of single-sex spaces for women and girls”, which she said she would say more about when she publishes the government’s plans for GRA reform this summer.

Single-sex spaces are protected under the Equality Act 2010, and the Tories were clear when they set out plans for GRA reform in 2018 that they were “not proposing any amendments to the Equality Act 2010″.

This potential meddling with trans people’s ability to use the single-sex spaces that correspond with their gender identity has meant the trans community is “beyond terrified that our basic rights are about to be removed”, the ‘Dear Liz’ campaign says. ... "

So effectively they are saying they know that the right to single sex services means that trans do not qualify.

Although as we know so many organisation have given in to trans activism to claim that it does.

So it seems a straight forward statement by Liz Truss plus the ongoing challenges from Baroness Nicholson on the way the EA has been misrepresented has got them all rattled.

But sad to say (though no surprise) Labour is saying the EA should be changed to make gender identity the same as sex:

" ... And Labour’s shadow minister for women and equalities, Marsha de Cordova, told PinkNews that the government “must protect the rights of the trans community in its response to its consultation on the Gender Recognition Act”.

“It is important that this government does not interfere with protections under the Equality Act, which ensure that trans people are not wrongfully excluded from single-sex spaces,” Cordova said. ... "

Years ago who'd have thought that some men demanding access to women and girls undressing, showering and the rest would have ever been taken seriously?
Yet - here we are and they have no shame in shouting about it Hmm

MockersxxxxxxxSocialDistancing · 22/05/2020 16:33

Claiming the basic right to use the segregated facilities of their choice.

Who else has this right?

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 22/05/2020 17:11

The transabled, perhaps? Or transracial?

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 22/05/2020 17:14

This lot aren’t sherpa’s they’re driving the funicular Grin no social distancing & the sunshine is strong above the cloud line.

ability to use the single-sex spaces that correspond with their gender identity this is just glorious; single sex spaces that include the opposite sex Confused

DickKerrLadies · 22/05/2020 18:41

Why is that? Are they implying men are violent, or something?

Someone should tell them that NAMALT.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 22/05/2020 18:44

It's like "ability to include eggs and steak in their vegan diet, and force others to accept that a vegan diet now includes both of those things".

littlbrowndog · 22/05/2020 18:47

Cmon kittens.

That egg has self id has a vegan egg. So has the steak.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 22/05/2020 18:51

Indeed, perhaps I'll have vegan steak tartare for dinner tomorrow.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 22/05/2020 18:54

Thing is, if someone wants to go around saying "I'm a vegan who loves steak and eggs and eats them for dinner twice a week" then that's odd and potentially rather annoying to vegans but if that was as far as it went most vegans would probably roll their eyes and try to ignore the person. It's when our hypothetical meat and eggs eating vegan starts trying to get vegan menus to be "inclusive" of their unique self definition and lobbies the publishers of dictionaries and guides on veganism for organizations to include constant reminders that vegans can love a good bacon butty too that mos vegans might rather run out of patience with said person's behavior, and decide to organize to prevent them from causing any further havoc.

Michelleoftheresistance · 22/05/2020 19:13

lobbies the publishers of dictionaries and guides on veganism for organizations to include constant reminders that vegans can love a good bacon butty too

Not to mention bullies, scolds and harangues vegans for excluding meat and animal products from their vegan diet,

insists they could learn to love meat if they tried, lobbied for laws to criminalise vegans who said veganism meant not eating animal products as a hate crime,

Infiltrated and took over ALL vegan groups and vigorously insisted that the eating of and eaters of animal products must be centred in all conversations, and must be the only people allowed to speak for veganism while shutting down any groups stubbornly resisting

took selfies of themselves with swords eating meat while saying 'your view if you say vegans don't eat animal products on Twitter'

joined vegan parades while insisting that those who admit out loud they wouldn't eat animal products be excluded for making them unsafe and threatening to lynch any they find on the march

Lobbied to remove services (I suppose food availability in this case) from vegans who insisted they would not eat animal products

And then wail about hate crime and being beyond terrified when said vegans get a bit pissed off and state, clearly, the eating of animal products has no place in veganism.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 22/05/2020 19:18

joined vegan parades while insisting that those who admit out loud they wouldn't eat animal products be excluded for making them unsafe and threatening to lynch any they find on the march

Ate a burger while walking in the parade, kept pointing out that it was made of beef and they had very right to eat it there and call themselves vegan, and possibly do the above while clothed in a meat dress a la Lady Gaga.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 22/05/2020 19:42

Insists that their transvegan burgers are cooked on the same skillet as the beanburgers. A third skillet would be so degrading.

Actually, isn't this what 'flexitarian' literally is?

MartiniDry · 22/05/2020 19:58

Someone up thread wanted to know who was behind this campaign. Here it is...

TehBewilderness · 22/05/2020 22:51

"Dangerous precedent. If allowed to happen, this government can then use this case as a precedent to target other groups and strip away their rights. What is next on the hit list for ideological right wing government?

Human trafficking? Pay to rape? Child abuse and exploitation? There is no end to the rights men have taken for granted that will be stripped away by a government that does not respect male supremacy.

This is a link to a letter the named individual above has had which she thinks they are going to get what they want. (which by the way if you look at Liz Truss' original statement always said that trans people had the right to live as they like - but nothing medical before 18).

"We also want to ensure that under 18s are protected from making irreversible decisions" suggests that nope, some aspects of the TRA wish list at least will remain unfulfilled.

MrGHardy · 22/05/2020 23:39

When you have no argument you must lie and appeal to emotion.

Now you are talking. me and the DW have considered going veggie for a while, however if we id as veggies, we can have a BBQ tomorrow and have the ribeyes with bearnaise and chips and say that the ribeyes ID as scorched cauliflower.
Job done, happy days.

Thank you, your transvegan demands up there are great.

They'd be hilarious if they weren't so depressingly familiar.

Xpectations · 23/05/2020 02:14

@sorenipples

It’s actually not a bad letter. I’m gonna replace ‘trans’ with ‘women’ and adjust the second paragraph to read from a woman’s perspective. I’ll finish it with how hopeful I am that finally, women’s concerns are being listened to and anticipate the reforms with interest.
Then I’ll send it to her.

AnyOldPrion · 23/05/2020 06:52

It never stops being true that reading the position of transactivists is what makes people gender critical.

If anyone is still doubting they have turned the tide...

That screenshot is comedy gold. 😂😂😂

TRAs always come across as having the emotional maturity of a 7 year old and don't appear to be particularly intelligent - don't retweet if you voted no - this is the internet, pal, what do you think is going to happen if you type that? 😂

NonnyMouse1337 · 23/05/2020 08:02

Also - The Heroes of Transgenderism? What is that? Marvel comic wannabes? Is that a name they came up with in between playing Fortnite? 😂

DickKerrLadies · 23/05/2020 08:14

The Heroes of Transgenderism?

Hey, they can identify however they want! The fact that their poll went so wrong isn't very heroic though, it's true.
