Trans community is “beyond terrified that our basic rights are about to be removed” the ‘Dear Liz’ campaign says

Couldn't resist posting this quote from a PN article. As usual the total purple prose listing the anguish of trans peope because of a factual statement by Liz Truss is beyond parody.

" ... This week, Truss was slammed for comments about the “protection of single-sex spaces for women and girls”, which she said she would say more about when she publishes the government’s plans for GRA reform this summer.

Single-sex spaces are protected under the Equality Act 2010, and the Tories were clear when they set out plans for GRA reform in 2018 that they were “not proposing any amendments to the Equality Act 2010″.

This potential meddling with trans people’s ability to use the single-sex spaces that correspond with their gender identity has meant the trans community is “beyond terrified that our basic rights are about to be removed”, the ‘Dear Liz’ campaign says. ... "

So effectively they are saying they know that the right to single sex services means that trans do not qualify.

Although as we know so many organisation have given in to trans activism to claim that it does.

So it seems a straight forward statement by Liz Truss plus the ongoing challenges from Baroness Nicholson on the way the EA has been misrepresented has got them all rattled.

But sad to say (though no surprise) Labour is saying the EA should be changed to make gender identity the same as sex:

" ... And Labour’s shadow minister for women and equalities, Marsha de Cordova, told PinkNews that the government “must protect the rights of the trans community in its response to its consultation on the Gender Recognition Act”.

“It is important that this government does not interfere with protections under the Equality Act, which ensure that trans people are not wrongfully excluded from single-sex spaces,” Cordova said. ... "

Great thread, cheered me up this morning! Trans veganism is a thing, get over it!

On a technical point from the Dear Liz web page I thought the phrase sex segregated spaces was in law as in the Equality Act not made up by GC people?
I'll be sending a thank you to Liz and others for their fantastic work.

... and don't appear to be particularly intelligent...

I've noticed this too (how could you miss it!) and I don't think it's rude or mean to point it out. In fact I think it's very relevant; don't you have to be a bit thick to believe in things like unicorns and people's ability to change sex?

DickKerrLadies · 23/05/2020 08:53

'Gender-segregated' WTF?

What sort of idiot thinks that prisons etc. are segregated based on an undefinable, indescribable internal 'feeling' of how feminine or masculine you are?

Lamahaha · 23/05/2020 08:53

haha, I went to that Twitter thread and they are now ordering people not to vote No! Grin

DickKerrLadies · 23/05/2020 08:58

they are now ordering people not to vote No!

For people that think they own the internet they don't really understand it, do they?

Michelleoftheresistance · 23/05/2020 09:14

If allowed to happen, this government can then use this case as a precedent to target other groups and strip away their rights. What is next on the hit list for ideological right wing government?

Absolutely no self awareness that what they endlessly demand is that the government target female people and strip away their rights, and what they're wailing about is Liz Truss mentioning that she may consider the needs of female people and child safeguarding as being important too. Stripping rights is absolutely fine by them, in fact they're enthusiastically in favour of it, go ahead and subordinate females and strip their civil rights and make them an underclass and yay to that! Stripping is great! So long as it's targeted towards the groups the political trans lobby want to use and benefit from, and under their control.

Michelleoftheresistance · 23/05/2020 09:17

Can't be said enough or too clearly:

What this 'terror' is about, is that the government may consider the needs and rights of female people.

That's it. That's all.

Female people having their sex based needs met, or even recognised, and being allowed female human rights is a terrifying and negative outcome according to this lobby.

Nuff said.

MockersxxxxxxxSocialDistancing · 23/05/2020 09:20

And these are the moderates.

The provisional wing of the Transgender Movement says that anyone who self-IDs should not be sent to cisprison but should be accomodated only in facilities overseen by their peers.

OldCrone · 23/05/2020 09:32

What this 'terror' is about, is that the government may consider the needs and rights of female people.

And the protection of children.

NonnyMouse1337 · 23/05/2020 09:32

Reminds me of the early days when I started to question trans ideology.
I came across the manifesto for Action for Trans Health, read it and was like ConfusedShockConfusedShock

Another timeless classic for the comedy archives.

OldCrone · 23/05/2020 09:37

I thought they wanted all (self-ID) trans prisoners to be freed.

MockersxxxxxxxSocialDistancing · 23/05/2020 09:39

I thought they wanted all (self-ID) trans prisoners to be freed.

They do in the short-term, until the Trans-Community can organise their own penal service, health service and in all probobility bus service.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 23/05/2020 09:41

That heroes twitter page has got to be a piss take surely

Lordfrontpaw · 23/05/2020 09:47

Was that the letter started by a trans woman and signed by men? The one that said it was from ‘c*s women’?

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 23/05/2020 09:50

Or the vegan one

Maybe its the vegan one thats a pisstake

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 23/05/2020 10:41

Wouldn't an example of The Heroes of Transgenderism be our friend who wanders around New York wearing their pants on the outside of their jeans from the other day? Not all heroes wear capes, because it would be harder for people to see them gyrating their crotch all and sundry if they did.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 23/05/2020 10:52

(That's a Poe though, surely. Not the subway poledancer, sadly every large city has a few of those, though in ye olde days we weren't expected to pretend they were fighting for justice for persecuted minorities.)

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 23/05/2020 13:21

Oh, that is a wonderful screenshot, AnyOldPrion. Grin

And Nonny, is that tumblr thing honestly really real? Not a pisstake? What a thing to behold. I've never seen anything like it.

We demand, indeed.

AnyOldPrion · 23/05/2020 13:48

That heroes twitter page has got to be a piss take surely

I believe it may be parody. Hilarious nonetheless. And a couple of years ago, I don’t think even a parody account would have got that unequivocal result.

NonnyMouse1337 · 23/05/2020 13:55

ScrimpshawTheSecond as far as I can tell it seems legit. The group exists - I've seen donation buckets for them. I can't imagine the Tumblr page would be allowed to stay up if it wasn't genuinely associated with the group, although it doesn't appear to have been updated for quite some time.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 23/05/2020 13:57

Amazing, Nonny.

Again, I wish this kind of thing were more widely circulated. Spread the joy and let's hear those demands, loud and clear!

The heroes is a parody, but it's bloody hard to tell, int'it?

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 23/05/2020 14:00

Pretty sure it's a Poe but given that we saw the Labour Party throw a not entirely dissimilar tantrum post election I can see why people aren't sure.

Datun · 23/05/2020 14:05

Action for Trans Health was consulted by the government and published as a contributor in Maria Millers transgender equality report. That's how close these nutcases are to lawmakers.

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 23/05/2020 14:12

AFTH are one of the reasons why it's impossible to parody TRAs and have everyone be sure that's what you're doing. Because once you've seen "we demand the right to do our own surgery!" you end up kind of going, well, this is batshit, but considering the other things that have been suggested in all seriousness...

Michelleoftheresistance · 23/05/2020 14:24

The AFTH member who was invited to give evidence to government committee is the same individual who encouraged another AFTH member who posted about looking forward to going out to 'fuck up some t*s' that evening, then went out and beat up Maria Miller.

I have inquired of my MP along with sharing that manifesto as to why the committee felt this was an agency government ought to be in any way touching with a bargepole given their extremely dodgy views and behaviour. He hid under the table and refused to answer. He does that when asked a difficult question.
