wishing her love and strength Flowers

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 15/04/2020 11:36

As PPs, I fully believed her anyway, but after watching this I don’t see how anyone couldn’t believe.

Londubh · 15/04/2020 11:43

Yes, the idea that a teenage girl consensually engaging in group sex with male strangers is more plausible to anyone than a gang of men raping a young girl, is beyond my comprehension.

Absolutely, this.

Wauden · 15/04/2020 11:52

I believe her.

Daisypod · 15/04/2020 11:56

I believe her

MoltenLasagne · 15/04/2020 12:25

As for the scenes from the airport with families popping champagne, I know full well that if my brother had been accused of gang rape and his defence was that it was all consensual, my mother's response would not have been to open the champagne - she would have been absolutely disgusted with him.

Well quite! Let's imagine that it was somehow all consensual, these men together caused such severe internal injuries to this young woman that the doctor she saw at the hospital reported it immediately as a rape. How it can bring anything other than deep shame for a family to know their son has done that is beyond me.

stumbledin · 15/04/2020 14:47

So sorry CantRememberHoliday hope you got support to help you through.

I believed her at the time it was first reported and I believe her now.

Though I cannot bear to watch this programme. However, I will steel myself and watch it as I feel I must honour the tremendous courage she has shown in agreeing to take part.

Just thinking of what this poor young woman must have gone through! And her ordeal continues and will no doubt follow her for the rest of her life.

The way those men were celebrated on their return to Israel...... Words fail me.

Boycotting both Cyprus and Israel.

Celandines · 15/04/2020 20:47

So disgusted with how she was treated. She 100% was telling the truth.

GinnyLane · 15/04/2020 20:51

I believe her, and I wish her strength.

Nilbog · 15/04/2020 21:00

I believe her and I believe the statement was falsified and I believe the men were let go because of some hold Israel has over Cyprus. And I believe that there is such entrenched misogony in much of Israel that they don't care if the men did it or not, only that their country isn't tainted.

I have had the misfortune of meeting many men from Israel whose views and behaviours have been shocking in how they treat women.

Tonz · 16/04/2020 09:17

I just watched her interview last night and cried most of the way through it. I always believed her from the start but now I've heard her whole story I'm so angry. What the actual fuck bullying a clearly traumatised girl into retracting a statement.
That poor young girl has so much courage and I hope she gets the justice she is bravely determined to get. Heartbreaking story and its not over yet. Come on girl we're all behind you

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 16/04/2020 15:31

I believe her. Flowers

ThrowingGoodAfterBad · 16/04/2020 19:06

Policemen unfortunately are no better than any other men and are part of the system which works against women. Always have been. Although there have been moves in Britain to try to improve the situation, they will continue to exist as long as misogynist men exist. I believe this girl and wish her all the best, she is an inspiration.

moofolk · 17/04/2020 07:50

@Ontheboardwalk

Thanks I hadn't seen that statement before and it flags up a couple of points for me

  1. Definitely some phrases native English speakers are unlikely to use (although I'd dispute 'apartment', it is used on holiday even if we say 'flat' at home. IDK why but I think because it's foreign sounding). Do and have sometimes translate to the same word, that's a dead giveaway it's not an English person.
  1. FFS it is a crime to secretly film someone and to humiliate them. So even their defence, that they humiliated and covertly filmed a girl, all 'did sexual intercourse' with her to the point that she was bruised, crying and internally injured?

What a bunch of odious, disgusting scum bags.

Germ1360 · 17/04/2020 10:45

I believe her.

Ratonastick · 17/04/2020 10:46

I started to watch the programme but couldn’t bear it. That ooor girl. I believe her. In fact, from the start I never doubted her for one second.

Gigia · 18/04/2020 08:28

I believe her and will also be boycotting Cyprus in the future.

MrGHardy · 18/04/2020 09:24

These men have seen so much porn most likely that they think it's every girls fantasy to happen upon a gangbang.

Homestayer · 18/04/2020 09:31

The problem she has is that while not widely reported in the British media, (although openly discussed in Israel and Cyprus), a video apparently exists of her enthusiastically consenting to the group sex with the men in question.

Now obviously the situation could have drastically changed once the video stopped being recorded as consent can be withdrawn at any time, but it does call into question her entire story as she clearly claims that she only consented to sex with one of the men, and the others being there was against her will.

Very difficult to get to the bottom of this whole thing.

Datun · 18/04/2020 09:35

Why isn't that video going viral on the internet home? Surely the men must think it would help their case?

MrsDoylesTeaBags · 18/04/2020 09:37

Apparently is doing a lot of work in that statement Homestayer

Homestayer · 18/04/2020 09:37

Good question. I assume because it shows an alleged crime so no mainstream website is going to host it.

They may also be injunctions in place that aren't being reported.

A work colleague of mine claims to have seen it via WhatsApp.

Homestayer · 18/04/2020 09:39

MrsDoyle you're right, but if one did exist it would explain why she was convicted in what otherwise appears an absolutely clear miscarriage of justice.
