Why is there such a large portion of the feminist movement so against trans culture. Trans people have been some of the biggest advocates for supporting allegedly oppressed groups. Why is it suddenly okay to for feminists (a formally oppressed group) to oppress trans people (currently oppressed group) why?

Marks do walnut whips and variants thereof. Like coffee or caramel. They used to anyway.

RadicalFern
Nigella has an AMAZING recipe for a homemade G&T jelly. It's delicious and also very dangerous because it slips down so nicely
This is the only recipe I have ever made thst failed abysmally Grin it never set & we were forced to use straws ShockGrin

Errol your custard tart discussion is tormenting me - I love custard tart but we are still lacking eggs round these parts.
My friend’s granny was famous for her egg tart I can see her now in her 90s magically producing egg tarts that were the depth of pudding bowls & coated in nutmeg. Absolute heaven & always eaten with a bearded collie resting their chin on your feet Grin

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 09/04/2020 18:18

She bought walnuts to stick on top of the whips!!

Thats how dedicated she is Grin

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 09/04/2020 18:19

I got a flapjack recipe from a local school...it feeds 80

Really works my maths skills

PertEllaTitsahoy · 09/04/2020 18:20

there used to be random strips of pastry on top of the tinned jam at my primary school

Oh I know the one you mean. Kind of like a lattice pattern?

The coconut was on a cake like the pink icing cake but with jam spread on top and sprinkled with coconut.

DuLANGDuLANGDuLANG · 09/04/2020 18:57

My mum used to be a dinner lady

Mine too! She was only a playground supervisor but the cook still used to save me extra rum truffle balls. My one experience of nepotism.

ErrolTheDragon · 09/04/2020 18:58

I'm just making egg custard, not tarts.

We're in an area with many egg farms and dairies. And livestock. Fortunately also some veg boxes as I'm close to literally living off the fat of the land at the moment.

Just as well there are quiet paths to walk some of it off. Some lovely wildlife, I saw a zephyr of bumbarrels the other day

Snort.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 09/04/2020 19:01

Chocolate concrete we called it. I have an official recipe from an actual dinner lady if you want it??

Is a woman an Adult Human Female?

Well that was random Grin

Yes please to the choc concrete recipe!

DuLANGDuLANGDuLANG · 09/04/2020 19:12

bitches

I don’t think this board is your natural habitat, RedRec.

TinselAngel · 09/04/2020 19:12

Is that a type of pudding, RedRec? I've not heard of it.

DuLANGDuLANGDuLANG · 09/04/2020 19:14

I really, really want an egg custard tart now. Damn you, bitches Grin

TinselAngel · 09/04/2020 19:14

Tarts too.

MrsDoylesTeaBags · 09/04/2020 19:22

FlamingoandJohn Yes they do, I got an early Easter treat which was M&S Fried Egg Whips, which where walnut whips but with a mini egg on top instead and caramel and fondant inside. They didnt' last very long.

I've seen so many new food creations here, what is a Bitch Tart and how vile is it?

DancelikeEmmaGoldman · 09/04/2020 19:46

The science of biscuits is complicated. The idea of biscuits is formless and limitless. Are slices biscuits or are they cakes?

This might help with the softness issue: www.npr.org/sections/thesalt/2014/09/04/345530660/the-science-behind-baking-your-ideal-chocolate-chip-cookie

Also BuzzShitbag I see what you did there. Grin

I made a bread and butter pudding out of slightly out of date hot cross buns.

He has eaten the hot cross buns.

I shall send him out to buy more!

Becles · 09/04/2020 20:23

Having failed to find any more proper flour, what can I do with strong flour that's not bread.

Needs to be on the high treat/low effort end of the scale. Blush

Google got me this...

[nods sagely]

Isn't it the stale/soggy test? (I don't mean this as a metaphor, btw)

ErrolTheDragon · 09/04/2020 20:33

One of the many recipes using bread flour in that link caught my eye - Compost Cookies.

The other ingredients include chocolate chips, pretzels, ground coffee and potato chips (crisps, obv). Confused

Tartyflette · 09/04/2020 20:37

You can make a very fine bread and butter pudding with stale croissants or brioche, or that Panettone someone gave you last Christmas...

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 09/04/2020 21:22

Ah forgive me I clearly dreamed up the custard tarts!
All the places selling eggs at the backdoor near here need a 15 minute car trip (& had stopped selling the week before lockdown)

Happy to low/no egg for a while but the lack of flour & especially yeast is a bit more of a challenge...
