Transphobic attitudes contradict the good feminism does everyday

Why is there such a large portion of the feminist movement so against trans culture. Trans people have been some of the biggest advocates for supporting allegedly oppressed groups. Why is it suddenly okay to for feminists (a formally oppressed group) to oppress trans people (currently oppressed group) why?

In the good old days they had a walnut on the inside, as well as on the top.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 09/04/2020 16:33

I tell you, I could have wept when I last had a Walnut whip and there wasn't one inside. Fucking robbed.

BringbackLang · 09/04/2020 16:33

I loved walnut whips. Aren't they just whips now Wink

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 09/04/2020 16:37

Sad They're just shite, now, is what they are.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 09/04/2020 16:38

Chocolate downsizing scandal:

I didn't realise they were Nestle. Fuck 'em twice, in that case.

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 09/04/2020 16:39

Is this the place for buscuit advice? Mine are a bit soft

Are they home baked or shop bought? If they’re shop bought, I wonder if you put them in the oven, if it would harden them?

That just reminds me, I meant to order a dehydrator. I bet that would work in biscuits that have went soft.

HashtagLurky · 09/04/2020 16:42

I dunno. We were really hard up when I was a kid and the only pud or cake we got was made by my mum. She is an excellent cook. So for me, shop bought has an air of luxury and forbidden pleasure that homemade will never attain. Even now, fondant fancies are the height of posh.

WaktiWapnasi · 09/04/2020 16:45

Lidl do a very passable own brand version... (and now I need to buy some).

I'm seriously considering a jelly/condensed milk/tinned fruit type pudding tonight.

WaktiWapnasi · 09/04/2020 16:48

Fondant Fancies are a) minute now and b) are so sugary they hurt my teeth. I occasionally buy them in the hope they've return to their magical state of soft scrumptiousness, but alas, no.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 09/04/2020 16:51

Different mouthfeel too, I expect.

sorrynotsorry

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 09/04/2020 16:55

Do they have a walnut in the inside, too, Wakti? I mean, it's immaterial as there's no Lidl within an hour's drive of me, but I will make note of it for future post-apocalyptic chocolate hunting expeditions.

Michelleoftheresistance · 09/04/2020 16:57

Oh my God I Want the school pink iced sponge cake with hundreds and thousands!!! I haven't thought of that in years, you're geniuses. I'm not sure it'll work properly without tepid, lumpy pink custard, but you can't have everything.

performative heretic baiting

Yes. Unfortunately the leotard breached regulations, and they didn't stick the landing. 2.4.

PertEllaTitsahoy · 09/04/2020 17:00

My mum used to be a dinner lady and would smuggle home the leftover pink iced sponge.

Arctic roll day was the best though 🤤

midgebabe · 09/04/2020 17:03

My first attempt at buiscuits beyond an oat and butter recipe. Usually do cakes, but eggs are precious

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 09/04/2020 17:03

I want the rock hard brownie cake type thing with custard that softened it.

Michelleoftheresistance · 09/04/2020 17:10

Remember the gypsy tart with the rock hard pastry and neon red tinned jam??

PertEllaTitsahoy · 09/04/2020 17:14

Was that the one sprinkled with desiccated coconut?

Michelleoftheresistance · 09/04/2020 17:15

No coconut I remember - there used to be random strips of pastry on top of the tinned jam at my primary school.

I just dropped in to say Thank you to everyone who is engaging with this OP.

I know someone has to get out there and do it. Otherwise these misogynist OPs stand unchallenged, where some other idiot will read them and think "Oooh Terkiller (or whoever) is so brilliant, no one could contradict his clever comment".

It's a boring and thankless task. I do it myself sometimes but other times I can't face it. So I am saying Thank you.

LouHotel · 09/04/2020 17:26

My mum use to have a walnut whip and I remember they were 55p compared to my 30p chocolate choice so thought they were Superior. stole one when I was 7 and it was shit. My dad also marched me to the shop to apologise and pay.

This thread is bringing up some harmful memories.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 09/04/2020 17:27

Sorry, Lou. Sad. I think it's the walnut whips, they're obviously made out of formula milk and bad kharma.

Danceswithwarthogs · 09/04/2020 17:31

Chocolate concrete we called it. I have an official recipe from an actual dinner lady if you want it??

LouHotel · 09/04/2020 17:32

He made me pay with a 20 so I had to stand there for ages waiting for change. I also don’t remember it being very whippy.

I’ve had to give up peppermint Aeros cause of nestle and the Aldi version is too intense!

Aldi knockoff mars bars though are better than the original.

NearlyGranny · 09/04/2020 17:39

I just made banana bread to the BBC Food recipe because DH did the shopping and threw tins on top of the bananas. No wasted food here! Besides, we'd eaten all the bara brith I made on Saturday.

The banana bread is moist and yummy and still a bit warm from the oven. Going down well with a cup of tea. Instead of creaming butter and sugar, I just melted the butter and threw everything in the bowl.

Does trans culture include baking? I'd happily swap recipes.

Toffee creme tart was the one everyone actually liked. (Is that 'gypsy tart'?)

I had a student flatmate who liked walnut whips, so treated herself to a 3-pack. One was defective so she wrote to complain, and received an apology ... and 2 3 packs. One of those was defective ...she was a maths student so it was nice she had a run of exponential good luckGrin
