Transphobic attitudes contradict the good feminism does everyday

Why is there such a large portion of the feminist movement so against trans culture. Trans people have been some of the biggest advocates for supporting allegedly oppressed groups. Why is it suddenly okay to for feminists (a formally oppressed group) to oppress trans people (currently oppressed group) why?

I miss jelly. I’m vegetarian

Hey Flamingo so am I. I just discovered this brand called Amy's. Have you heard of them? They are quite good, a lockdown discovery....

BovaryX · 09/04/2020 08:45

I think the perfect lockdown drink is a Bloody Mary. Fresh lemon juice and a serious quantity of tabasco.....

MrsSnippyPants · 09/04/2020 08:54

Not round my way they're not. Much reduced bus service - bored illiterate TRAs are much more numerous.

Well given we get a bus about three times a week Floral Grin

How does supporting the rights of girls to go to communal changing rooms and undress/be naked separate from male adults oppress the transgender community??!!

SentimentalKiller · 09/04/2020 09:00

I am 3 pages too late but we used to make jelly, let it part set then whisk in condensed milk, it would split and half be jelly and half a fluffy set thing
Does anyone know how it's made. I fancy some after this thread

HorseRadishFemish · 09/04/2020 09:02

Is a good question. One that we will never have answered along with please define 'woman' without using the word 'woman' and (my personal favourite) why don't you just fuck off?

TinselAngel · 09/04/2020 09:12

Feminism is dead thanks to stupidity and hostility in this post

Well you said it OP.

There seems to be a current trend for an opening gambit of telling us we're all doing feminism wrong, followed by a flounce which bears no relation to anything in between.

Almost as if we're not actually the intended audience.

BovaryX · 09/04/2020 09:16

Ha! Certainly seems so TinselAngel It's lockdown performative heretic baiting for screenshots....

Tartyflette · 09/04/2020 09:23

Tinsel Or we haven't responded the 'correct'' way so they can't report us here or froth on Other Social Media about how MN has killed feminism. 😉.
So disappointing.
I'm going to try the sugar free lemon jelly made up with double cream.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 09/04/2020 09:50

I have to say I am a little disappointed in the OP follow up.
Pretty limp. Not at all the usual fire and brimstone we've come to expect from our regular tellings-off.

And to think I paid for the full half-hour argument too. Pfftt.

FlamingoAndJohn · 09/04/2020 09:51

I’ve not heard of Amy’s @BovaryX. I will look them up. I’ve found veggie jelly to be rather joyless in the past.

Datun · 09/04/2020 09:51

Yeah, I'm sure indignant outrage, followed by wild counter attack is the desired outcome.

Discussing the merits of milk puddings in the context of 1970 school dinners, simply isn't cutting the mustard, women. Try harder.

Datun · 09/04/2020 09:52

No you didn't.

🤣

Sorry, flamingo I wasn't referring to jelly, dunno if they do that. But they do a nice veggie burger, discovered during lockdown....

HeffalumpsCantDance · 09/04/2020 09:57

Maybe we’re womaning wrong.
Perhaps there’s a protocol somewhere that can give us bullet points on what constitutes womanly behaviour, specifically on how we should respond to verbal provocation.
Or perhaps the responses could be used to illustrate differences between Female and Male behaviour, and the use of humour as a defence/dismissive rather than Hulk Smash.

wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 09/04/2020 09:59

In the old days, when friends weren’t the vectors for a horrible death.

Actual LOL at this.

I have an inexplicable craving for milk puddings.

TheChampagneGalop · 09/04/2020 10:01

Take some cottage cheese and dunk a spoonful in your camomile for a chunky bedtime drink.
Oh noooo Grin I dare anyone to try this (not me)

mateysmum · 09/04/2020 10:07

Please stop suggesting blancmange is similar to custard.

I don't care if pink blancmange identifies as yellow custard it can call itself what it likes, but please don't suggest that it is trans blancmange and actually IS custard as I find that deeply offensive to freshly made custard with it's own recipe.

Thank you for your kind attention.

Winesalot · 09/04/2020 10:15

Is anyone else a little disturbed that the new fashion advertising on MN is Anti-droplet caps?

I mean, it might be the way of the distopian future.

I preferred those lovely colourful boots though.

mummmy2017 · 09/04/2020 10:19

Love custard, but once custard becomes cold and sets to blancmange , never becomes runny again.
Even if you cut a massive chunk of the blancmange, it is damaged and will never be custard.

TinselAngel · 09/04/2020 10:20

Is the lemon bit of a lemon meringue pie basically a lemon blancmange? Because that's nice.

Justhadathought · 09/04/2020 10:25

In my experience nobody is trying to " oppress" anyone. What women are demanding is an acknowledgment of the need and the desirability for single sex spaces, services and sports. People are also very rightly concerned about the medicalisation of childhood non-conformity.

Anyone is free - in this country - to crack on and dress and express however they like......However, this does not extend to controlling the behaviour and speech of everyone else around.

Sex is real.....and has real consequences......that is about it really.

Becles · 09/04/2020 10:31

Love you guys Grin Thank you for ensuring the thread went straight to fundamentals.

I have been inspired to make a school sponge this afternoon, complete with pink icing and hundreds and thousands.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 09/04/2020 10:35

No you didn't
That’s not an argument. That’s just contradiction.😉

DidoLamenting · 09/04/2020 10:40

No. If made properly it's fresh lemon juice thickened with egg yolk. There's no dairy product. Can also be thickened with cornflour but egg yolk is the proper method.
