Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Transphobic attitudes contradict the good feminism does everyday

Why is there such a large portion of the feminist movement so against trans culture. Trans people have been some of the biggest advocates for supporting allegedly oppressed groups. Why is it suddenly okay to for feminists (a formally oppressed group) to oppress trans people (currently oppressed group) why?

The image I get from the bubble tea stuff is frogspawn

BovaryX · 09/04/2020 08:08

OMG. From looking back at this thread, I see bubble tea contains milk! And the bubbles are made from semolina? Confused

Danceswithwarthogs · 09/04/2020 08:09

I wonder if this is the same person the other day who kept calling people pet...

PertEllaTitsahoy · 09/04/2020 08:09

I eat a low carb diet so my go to dessert at the moment is sugar free jelly made with 1 part hot water and 1 part double cream. It's really nice, like a pannacotta.

I like lime jelly with added lemon zest for a bit of zing.

PertEllaTitsahoy · 09/04/2020 08:10

Dances they couldnt spell either

Datun · 09/04/2020 08:11

Men are feminists now and by the way, you're doing it wrong.

😄

Soontobe60 · 09/04/2020 08:13

As most of you have suggested I will do one. Feminism is dead thanks to stupidity and hostility in this post

I think you’ll find most of us suggested favourite milk puddings. The only stupidity on this post comes from you. Feminism is far from dead. Feminists will fight to the bitter end to defend the rights of women for safe spaces, equality and the right to express valid opinions based on scientific facts without someone with gender dysphoria crying ‘woe is me’ and claiming we are being ‘transphobic’. Which we have already ascertained by definition means ‘fear of trans’. Feminists are not frightened of trans people. We will not run away and hide from them. We will not be bullied into submission.

@ALittleBitofVitriol Tapioca Envy not envy.

@Blamonge I'm under 35! Halo Women are oppressed by a patriarchal society and gendered stereotypes.
Only women can be Feminists, men can be allies but not feminists. Hope that helps Grin

@startrek90 my baby loves WBH. Obviously your baby is telling you that she or he does too. I hope it's delicious.

ErrolTheDragon · 09/04/2020 08:16

We're using local suppliers rather than supermarkets which means no yogurt (the welcome successor to the milky monstrosities of some of our childhoods) . But lots of eggs and milk so I'm going to make another batch of baked egg custard in a moment. 3 beaten eggs, 450 ml hot milk, vanilla, leaving out the sugar, strain into ramekins or teacups, top with nutmeg, bake in a bain marie at ~160 for 30-35 minutes.

Proper stuff, pale and delicate, not slimy.

ErrolTheDragon · 09/04/2020 08:17

favourite milk puddings

Mostly least favourite, directly inspired by the OPs name.

FlamingoAndJohn · 09/04/2020 08:19

I miss jelly. I’m vegetarian and the vegetarian jellies you can buy just aren’t as good. What is frustrating is that the jelly you get in pots or in premade trifle is usually vegetarian but you can’t buy nice vegetarian jelly to make at home.

BringbackLang · 09/04/2020 08:22

Not all Bubble tea is made with milk Bovary. It's like having a cold fruit tea. Personally I like the idea of iced tea made with booze. Although a proper brew with milk will forever be my favourite Smile

Danceswithwarthogs · 09/04/2020 08:24

anyone tried greens creme caramel mix in a packet... surprisingly nice, even the kids eat it

Winesalot · 09/04/2020 08:24

And yet @Blamonge, you had most of the usual posters here on this board waiting for you to come back last night and discuss exactly what you had in mind.

It was an opportunity, not to validate your beliefs, but to open heartedly discuss the very issues you posted. So now that you are here, if your intention is to discuss then do so....

If your intention is to rebuke women, which was the tone of each of your posts.... then I guess you have not achieved your goal.

HeffalumpsCantDance · 09/04/2020 08:24

As a historian with an interest in cookery, can I point out that blancmange was originally a dish of chicken and almonds? Sometimes with rice added.

And tapioca pudding was known as frogspawn in 60s schools.

I’ve lost count of the number of times Feminism has been declared obsolete or dead by others, but we keep refusing to obey the command, however desperate the wishing or frenzied the attempts to crush us.

FlamingoAndJohn · 09/04/2020 08:26

Only women can be Feminists, men can be allies but not feminists.

But anyone is a woman if they say they are.

Winesalot · 09/04/2020 08:27

DancelikeEmmaGoldman. Lemon Crisps are addictive!!!! But how can you say a dark mint Tim tam is without flavour, sweet I will give you ...

QuentinWinters · 09/04/2020 08:28

Love this thread. Very good. Although flashbacks to school dinners not really appreciated. We used to get spam fritters and these things called beanies which were deep fried mashed potato with a blob of baked beans in the middle. And semolina with raspberry jam that tasted like the worm medicine of the time.

It's a shame OP hasn't found it as informative as hoped Grin

stillathing · 09/04/2020 08:30

flamingo

Perhaps depends on where you live, but the halal jelly from asda's world food aisle is nice and veggie. It's a sachet to make at home.

HeyDuggeewhatchadoin · 09/04/2020 08:34

Look, @FlamingoAndJohn if someone wants to be the limitless, formless void that is a woman, then who are we to say otherwise?

HorseRadishFemish · 09/04/2020 08:39

How do you start a rice pudding race?

Sago.

corlan · 09/04/2020 08:40

if someone wants to be the limitless, formless void that is a woman
Spanx are very good for dealing with that formless void Wink

BovaryX · 09/04/2020 08:40

Personally I like the idea of iced tea made with booze

Now we're talking!

Dances · 09/04/2020 08:43

Gin iced tea!

Cuntysnark · 09/04/2020 08:43

I’m very much looking forward to making the chocolate jelly thing today. It’s my goal/challenge if the day. I make up sugar free jelly with very little hot water and a fuckton of Greek yogurt. Fat free or not. Bung it in the fridge and wait impatiently. FYI.
