Why is there such a large portion of the feminist movement so against trans culture. Trans people have been some of the biggest advocates for supporting allegedly oppressed groups. Why is it suddenly okay to for feminists (a formally oppressed group) to oppress trans people (currently oppressed group) why?

Feminism is dead thanks to stupidity and hostility in this post

Out of the mouths of the hard of thinking. It's the post, not the thread, asserting that feminism is dead.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 09/04/2020 10:42

My mum used to make the recipe upthread with a half set jelly and evaporated milk. She calls it jelly fluff. It's delicious. It works if you swap the evaporated milk for dream topping too.
We used to have trifle that was jelly, "blancmange" and dream topping. The blancmange was basically milk with lots of cornflour and food colouring. Had absolutely no nutritional value whatsoever but it was cheap and sweet and brightly coloured.

Datun · 09/04/2020 10:43

🤣

Datun · 09/04/2020 10:44

Sorry, I appear to be laughing indiscriminately!

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 09/04/2020 10:48

I paid for the full half-hour argument too

Grin

Do you know, orange jelly is surprisingly delicious, with real orange bits in it is EXTRA delicious. I was thinking maybe some of those vodka-soaked raspberries would be stellar.

VoleClock · 09/04/2020 11:03

well, thank you vipers all. This thread has brought back not so happy memories of my first lesson in cookery at secondary school where we spent about three hours making a cornflour mould aka blancmange - something i have never tried again since.

also i recall chocolate semolina with a finger of shortbread as one of the actually edible school dinner desserts.

Anyway, now back to the queue trying to book a UC appointment...

FlamingoAndJohn · 09/04/2020 11:04

Is the lemon bit of a lemon meringue pie basically a lemon blancmange? Because that's nice.

No. It’s lemon curd really.
Now I want lemon meringue pie.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 09/04/2020 11:06

No you didn't.

I am on an interminable conference call and just lightly snorted at that.

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 09/04/2020 11:11

I made vegan meringues the other day. (Quarantine will do that to you.)

Family comment: 'These taste like horses'.

FlamingoAndJohn · 09/04/2020 11:13

I know exactly what they mean with ‘tastes like horses’, despite never having licked a horse.

PerkyPomPoms · 09/04/2020 11:15

I love the lemon crisp biscuits - was gutted when they stopped being imported to NZ

Danceswithwarthogs · 09/04/2020 11:16

I had some vegan fudge once that tasted like coconut soap

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 09/04/2020 11:16

Oooh perky

Were they like custard creams ...but flakey and lemony

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 09/04/2020 11:17

Ok...nothing like custard creams

Winesalot · 09/04/2020 11:17

There is nothing like that salty lemon flavour is there PerkyPomPoms.

PerkyPomPoms · 09/04/2020 11:18

They were delicious layers of crisp biscuit with luscious lemon flecks and a tantalising sprinkle of salt. Food of the gods.

MrsDoylesTeaBags · 09/04/2020 11:18

Thank your for validating my belief that feminism is a platform for bullies and hypocrites. As most of you have suggested I will do one. Feminism is dead thanks to stupidity and hostility in this post, long live equalism.

Please continue to be ignorant

I dunno, I have found this thread very informative. Namely the difference between Semolina, Sago and Tapioca, also Bubble Tea, which I've never tried and really don't think I want to.

ErrolTheDragon · 09/04/2020 11:19

Vegan meringues? Is that the thing you can allegedly do with the water from cans of chickpeas? Is there anything you can make with this fluid that's actually nice?

DH once ate horse tartare in Belgium, he didn't realise what it was until part way through.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 09/04/2020 11:20

I once said i liked the schools lemon mousse to my dad

Cue a massive chest freezer jampacked with every flavour mousse imaginable

Took me years to pluck up the courage to tell him that i dont like mousse...i just liked THAT mousse

(A few weeks ago he told me that his generation didnt stockpile BOLLOCKS!!!! We had enough mousse to feed the 5000...FOR YEARS)

TinselAngel · 09/04/2020 11:20

Remember when all we had to worry about was horse in our cottage pie? Good times.

ErrolTheDragon · 09/04/2020 11:21

There is nothing like that salty lemon flavour is there

Sort of the biscuity cousin of a margarita?

StillWeRise · 09/04/2020 11:22

If you don't mind eating gelatine, when I was little my mum used to put stewed rhubarb in orange jelly to set. That was really nice. I know there are veggie jelly substitutes, but they don't seem to have the bounce.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 09/04/2020 11:28

I think foxs did it

And it was flakey

Layers of flakey

WaktiWapnasi · 09/04/2020 11:34

Off to the gulag the lot of you!

Can we please establish the status of milk based puddings and chewy tea before we depart? I may opt for Guantanamo Bay as an alternative if it does a decent Rice Pud and a Lady Grey with no lumps.
