This day is for WOMEN.

And to those who say they want a definition of ‘woman’ to celebrate IWD - great idea, but let’s have one that works. What do you think that is?

I think everyone has answered this.

I don't feel the need to virtue signal what I have done to further the advancement of women because frankly I'm not justifying myself to anyone, least of all that poster.

My final word to you Robin, I don’t actually care if your feelings are hurt by being excluded from this day intended for adult human females. I don’t care if you find the comments offensive, because you’re not under any pressure to read the comments on a thread celebrating women. I do agree that male bodied born people shouldn’t be mentioned, but they’re only being brought up, because they’re the ones who insist on muscling into female spaces. If they stop bullying women, then we’ll have no reason to discuss them.

I’m sure you’ll find loads of threads on twitter, etc that centre those born of the male, who identify as all sorts. My middle child (26yr old male) has just sent me a lovely message and wished me a happy IWD. I’m so glad he’s turned out to be a caring and respectful young man.

Well, female. Let's see, how do we figure out what animals are male and female. Big clue... We look at the genitals they're born with.
So the midwife/doctor/whoever, checks a babies genitals when they're born.
They then observe the child's sex as either male or female. Girl or boy. Man or woman.
It really is that simple.

IWD is for women. If anyone is feeling miffed because they’re not centred by it, then they’re obviously not women and can go and look up whichever day IS for putting them front and centre. This is a thread to celebrate adult human females and I am fucking celebrating that.

With respect, I didn’t start a thread purporting to celebrate IWD by having a pop at a group who regard themselves as women even if a majority of posters here do not.

Simplistic answers like employers can tell a woman on sight or by hearing fail miserably when faced with a young transitioned person, a butch lesbian, or a person with male chromosomes but AID and the like. These are not theoretical questions but questions real people have to deal with. Trivialise them if you like, call me ‘goads’ if you like, but be ready to have real (and occasionally quite inconvenient) truths raised when simplistic positions are put forward. Real life is tough and includes hard questions like these. Solutions and progress can be hard won.

So today honour those brave women, including trans women, who have stood up and won progress.
