Presumably you have all seen this......

Frazzled

I must admit I did snort at this response:

If reading some words you don't agree with makes you frightened to go back to work at the Guardian there are plenty of zero hours jobs out there. I'm sure they're every bit as cushy. Apparently the Amazon warehouse has a really inclusive bathroom policy; no one is allowed to go.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 03/03/2020 00:40

Bloody hell. In the Guardian? The fucking Guardian? I'll never forgive them for the years of relentless misogyny. What excites me is a sense that this piece is a little straw in a growing wind.

DuLANGMondeFOREVER · 03/03/2020 00:42

Fantastic comment!

TanteRose · 03/03/2020 00:47

Thanks Suzanne Moore Flowers

Well quite. Awesome comment Grin.

DuLANGMondeFOREVER · 03/03/2020 00:52

Screen shots from the above quote.
I doubt Suzanne Moore, as a columnist, is in the office very often, so even if words were literal violence, this seems like a bit of an overreaction.

Oh, and the irony of ‘if you can’t say anything nice don’t say anything at all’ from a person who frequently insults Fionne Orlander and Miranda Yardley and has been horribly dismissive about distressed female detransitioners.

Jess is literally fucking crying and scared to go to work

In the replies - apart from a lot of predictable misogynistic slurs - someone has actually advised Jess to contact a union rep about this because “you shouldn’t have to put up with this shit”

It’s only 6 months since two people quit over a very mild ‘clash of two sets of rights’ editorial.

Time seems to be speeding up, it’s now almost impossible to keep up with all the articles, tv and radio debates. This feels like it happened years ago!

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 03/03/2020 01:03

That Roz thread is something else. 40 years blah blah still 100% male 🤷‍♀️

DuLANGMondeFOREVER · 03/03/2020 01:04

Maybe it was Roz who sherpa’d Suzanne up to the peak? 🤗

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 03/03/2020 01:06

Aww Roz was helping us out 🤣

Cwenthryth · 03/03/2020 01:06

I think 1 of 2 things could be happening with Jess:

  1. Jess is genuinely distressed and fearful, because Jess is quite a vulnerable person and has been told over and over that anyone not believing in trans ideology wants to harm trans people, Jess believes this, so when Jess sees a woman standing up for women’s rights, Jess genuinely thinks Jess is somehow at physical risk (the whole ‘I don’t believe in fairies’ theory)

Or

  1. This is an incredibly manipulative, attention seeking ploy from a misogynist narcissist.

I’ve responded to Jess as if it is scenario 1. But I’m open minded because it’s not kind to assume things about people. And maybe it’s somewhere in between, and it’s possible to be scenario 2 with absolutely zero self-awareness so they experience scenario 1.

The TRA rhetoric damages trans people too.

DuLANGMondeFOREVER · 03/03/2020 01:08

So pleased! Roz gets it!

Trans people have no right to spread lies about women in order to take away women’s rights!

Wow, maybe they could stay friends after all! Fantastic epiphany, Roz! 🙃

NotBadConsidering · 03/03/2020 02:27

Roz needs to learn the difference between its and it’s.

OccasionalKite · 03/03/2020 02:59

To whom is Roz K referring? Because women are not "a minority". Women are roughly 51% of the human population, women are those humans who have been oppressed, vastly mostly by men, since humans began. In the past few decades, women have fought for and achieved rights for women. And now, there are men who are determined to infiltrate and undermine those rights, so that women no longer have women's rights to women-only, single sex resources.

Spit!

DuLANGMondeFOREVER · 03/03/2020 03:13

Naw, I’ve confused you with my sweet natured, generous reinterpretation of Roz’s tweet!

What Roz is really saying is that Uppity Women who say stuff like ‘no rapists in women’s prisons’ are ‘telling lies’ in order to take away trans rights...

But Roz appears to have forgotten that Women’s Rights are Human Rights, and that, as an example, rapey penis people don’t actually have a legal right to be held in women’s prisons. That’s stonewall law, not actual law.
In actual human rights law men and women have a right to be held in single sex prisons.

Which means Suzanne, Selina and us lot all get to go to the same gulag! Woooooo!

Guarantee If they made a prison for GC feminists, some of them would start identifying as terves.
They don’t like us having anything to ourselves.

Winesalot · 03/03/2020 07:03

I had to stop reading the outrage being outpoured about this article on twitter. The recommendations for Jess to contact union, and have colleagues with you always for support and make sure everyone knows how harmed you are etc is really sinister if the Guardian takes this view and takes action against Suzanne.

And again, I did not see one tweet from a so called t**f that was aggressive. Same cannot be said for the aggressive gifs and cancelling language used towards anyone who did not agree Tw AW. It’s like waiting out a toddler tantrum with calm logic. But on a dangerous scale, with some dangerous people involved....

SunsetBeetch · 03/03/2020 07:20

Labour member (male of course) calling women bigots. Gosh.

"Holy shit that is one if the worst and most hateful things i have read in my life, but from Suzanne i am not surprised"

twitter.com/bolloticks/status/1234651615291990023?s=19

"Labour should never throw minorities under a bus, we didn't in the past and we shouldn't start now

Labours strongest demographics are ones that support trans rights

Maybe you're the joke who is in the wrong party?"

More information on Jessica. I thought they seemed familiar:

"Jessica claimed they were attacked in London last year by two knife-wielding transphobes and then asked for donations. And then deleted all the tweets as soon as it emerged the whole story was made up. And then posted tweets like this instead t.co/CWEPVlt2nL "

twitter.com/ripx4nutmeg/status/1234738936095936512?s=19

"It was 'confirmed' in that the moment it became obvious it was untrue all the tweets were deleted, the funder was taken down and the username changed"

I could not resist the call of Tweeter again, saw a reason that no one should believe that humans can’t change sex is that all the cells are replaced in the body periodically. So if we are always renewing our bodies then why won’t you accept we can change sex. I must admit I haven’t seen that one for a while.

SunsetBeetch · 03/03/2020 07:33

Lord above that twitter thread Shock So many gems but I think the one about trying to gatekeep womanhood is probably my favourite.

Kit19 · 03/03/2020 07:48

Ah the usual go instantly nuclear tactic. That used to work but not anymore. As the sunlight continues to shine & more ppl are aware, they just look like someone to put it kindly massive issues

I do feel genuinely sorry for the amount of young ppl who’ve brought into this so whole heartedly. Their rage and confusion that science doesn’t care about their feelings is palpable.

The full blown adults who have engineered this are appalling

jadefinch · 03/03/2020 07:50

Here's some more recent tweets by Jessica.

Clearly a fantasist who lives to portray themselves as a victim.

I recall them making hundreds of pounds from a crowdfunder after they were 'attacked' in London

Good to see that Johann Lamont MSP (a former Scottish Labour leader) has retweeted and thanked Suzanne for her article.
